Also just so you know with Attack on Titan the sub sounds way better, but I don't mind the dub. But with the dub sometimes there are some confusing things in the conversations that wouldn't be there if it was the sub, I don't know why. You forget in the "Zuko alone" episode, when Zuko's mom was reading the letter Iroh had sent with the ivory dagger, we see a glimpse of younger Iroh just outside the wall of ba sing se, which had been partly demolished. So here Azula matches Iroh with the whole getting thru the wall.

Thank you for dropping 12 and 13 together. The Drill is one of my favorite episodes of season 2. Sokka big-braining. Epic bending battle with Aang and Azula. Plus not to mention every episode after this is fire with either battles, story arc or both. Season 2, let's go!!
A lot of people don't see that Sokka is actually very smart, and it shows here and in later episodes. It gets overshadowed by the fact that he's also the main comic relief.

MINOR SPOILERS MINOR SPOILERS MINOR SPOILERS 1) It shows more interaction between the Spirit World and the Physical/Human World, which is important for Aang's meeting with "you-know-what" in the last few episodes. 2) It shows that there are spirits who actively try to help Humans, unlike most spirits, who are kind of hoping Humans would just go away/die, or spirits like Hei Bai, who are just kind of there, and usually don't give a crap what happens to Humans, as long as it doesn't affect them (the spirits) directly. This, again, helps us understand why the "you-know-what", and its interactions with Humans and the Avatar, is so unique and important.

My theory on how Iroh got through: unlike other Fire Nation generals, he actively recruited mixed race Earth-Bender Fire Nation subjects from the colonies, with the promise of elevating their status via their contribution to the war effort. Iroh back then was trying to reconcile his philosophical respect for all the nations with his patriotic loyalty the war effort by convincing himself they could forge a society that combined the best of all nations by force. That’s why he gave his son such an Earth Kingdom sounding name (Fire Nation makes tend to sound more Japanese influenced than clearly Chinese influenced Lu Ten)

Netflix put it as it originally aired. The Drill and The Serpent Pass aired together. Same as the Book 2 finale. And yes I would consider this as the mid season finale because the second half of this book feel much different than the first half
These episodes aired together, but so did The Library and The Desert. Those two 'hour specials' were 2 months apart, and I'd say loosing Appa was the mid season finale.
I'm pretty sure Suki just takes the ferry back since she's officially working with the Earth Kingdom Customs and Borders department. It's interesting seeing you get super into the action, but still give 'The Serpent's Pass' the higher rating because of it's narrative contribution. It's just cool that you appreciate the style and spectacle but know it can't trump story. Once again, you catch pretty much everything going on in the episode.
I LOVE iroh blowing up their spot with a stupid decision because of tea. Of course it would be tea, only tea could distract iroh enough to make such a noob mistake. I ain't even mad, uncle iroh wants his tea and he deserves it.
The fight with Azula and the scene of Aang before he destroys the drill are among my favorite moments in the series! The bending theory crafting at the end reminds me why I love your channel and commentary so much: You always noticing the little things 😂 I think I may subscribe, been on the fence but I get the feeling is gonna be worth it
There were a few times during the original run that multiple episodes were aired on TV as a mini-event. I don't know about these episodes but in the future there will Day of Black Sun Part 1&2, that you should watch together and the 4 part finale, for certain.
I know we haven't seen too much of ZUKO using his swords, but don't forget that he's also the Blue Spirit, who took on a whole army of fire nation soldiers just using his swords. I wouldn't count him out of a fight with Jet just yet if I were you.

Every episode EVERY episode from this point on is amazing. EVERY SINGLE ONE. After a rewatch, I noticed that the early parts of Season 3 are filler, but don't skip any. They're all important.
I always view the drill as more setup or a preview for future episodes...Especially with Azula. The rest of the season does actually get better (and it was already good to begin with).
I believe the last two episodes of the season (the Guru and Crossroads of Destiny) are treated as a one hour special as well, even though I don't think they aired that way. In Book 3, the mid-season finale is definitely a one hour special, and the four part series finale aired as a two hour special. Thus they're each streamed as single episodes on Netflix and other online platforms. Just a heads up so you can plan accordingly.

In retrospect, simply shutting off the drill might have been more effective, especially since internal security didn't seem very prominent apart from Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai. If Toph lured them out, it would have been a very favorable battle.

Episodes 12 and 13 were never aired in theaters. They just were lumped together as a 1-hour "special" on TV. I don't remember at all, but maybe there was a mid-season break after that as well. Hoping someone can correct me on that!

As far as I know Iroh got through the outer wall of Ba Sing Se through seer will power and badassery. He sieged that motherfucker for approximately 20 months.
Aang and katara could have done even less work if they cut the braces a bit less, then had one force water in the cracks, and the other freezing it,making sure the expansion is focused upward,and not out of the crack

Netflix put it as it originally aired. The Drill and The Serpent Pass aired together. Same as the Book 2 finale. And yes I would consider this as the mid season finale because the second half of this book feel much different than the first half
These episodes aired together, but so did The Library and The Desert. Those two 'hour specials' were 2 months apart, and I'd say loosing Appa was the mid season finale.
I'm pretty sure Suki just takes the ferry back since she's officially working with the Earth Kingdom Customs and Borders department. It's interesting seeing you get super into the action, but still give 'The Serpent's Pass' the higher rating because of it's narrative contribution. It's just cool that you appreciate the style and spectacle but know it can't trump story. Once again, you catch pretty much everything going on in the episode.
And thus, a legendary team name was born.

I LOVE iroh blowing up their spot with a stupid decision because of tea. Of course it would be tea, only tea could distract iroh enough to make such a noob mistake. I ain't even mad, uncle iroh wants his tea and he deserves it.
The fight with Azula and the scene of Aang before he destroys the drill are among my favorite moments in the series!
The bending theory crafting at the end reminds me why I love your channel and commentary so much: You always noticing the little things 😂 I think I may subscribe, been on the fence but I get the feeling is gonna be worth it
There were a few times during the original run that multiple episodes were aired on TV as a mini-event. I don't know about these episodes but in the future there will Day of Black Sun Part 1&2, that you should watch together and the 4 part finale, for certain.
I remember them advertising that drill when I was a kid I feel like they were like a two episodes air at once vibe
I know we haven't seen too much of ZUKO using his swords, but don't forget that he's also the Blue Spirit, who took on a whole army of fire nation soldiers just using his swords. I wouldn't count him out of a fight with Jet just yet if I were you.

from this point on is amazing. EVERY SINGLE ONE. After a rewatch, I noticed that the early parts of Season 3 are filler, but don't skip any. They're all important.
I always view the drill as more setup or a preview for future episodes...Especially with Azula. The rest of the season does actually get better (and it was already good to begin with).

I believe the last two episodes of the season (the Guru and Crossroads of Destiny) are treated as a one hour special as well, even though I don't think they aired that way.
In Book 3, the mid-season finale is definitely a one hour special, and the four part series finale aired as a two hour special. Thus they're each streamed as single episodes on Netflix and other online platforms. Just a heads up so you can plan accordingly.
None of this show was in theaters though. Sadly.

There are several points made in this episode, and I can't wait for you to see them show up.
In retrospect, simply shutting off the drill might have been more effective, especially since internal security didn't seem very prominent apart from Azula, Ty Lee, and Mai. If Toph lured them out, it would have been a very favorable battle.

Episodes 12 and 13 were never aired in theaters. They just were lumped together as a 1-hour "special" on TV. I don't remember at all, but maybe there was a mid-season break after that as well. Hoping someone can correct me on that!

As far as I know Iroh got through the outer wall of Ba Sing Se through seer will power and badassery. He sieged that motherfucker for approximately 20 months.
Aang and katara could have done even less work if they cut the braces a bit less, then had one force water in the cracks, and the other freezing it,making sure the expansion is focused upward,and not out of the crack
6:30, you know I just noticed while watching this now but.. why haven't any of those Earth Benders got armour on their bodies? no wonder Iroh got through.. their armour design is all looks and no practicality.
It's probably because they are benders and armour would restrict free movement
