Eight years since I've started playing this game on the JP server. Eight god damn years. Now, on global, I stood against this monstrosity of a final boss, and triumphed. You wouldn't believe the absurd melancholy I feel this week.
After playing games like WOW and SWTOR for years and switching over to PSO2, I never thought I would love MMO bosses... There's no tank, DPS, healer raid roles, and the fights are so fluid that its not just button mashing keybound 40 different icons on a screen. I think this has been one of my favourite MMOs for the past decade.

@Last Prince FK I really like the gameplay to NGS but there is just no content at all and retem is just the same shit as Aelio but with sand instead...... maybe things will get better, they seem to care about the game after showing off the interview results. Japan hating the game way more than global is a bit of a wakeup call for them I think at the same time, I wouldn't hold my breath.

this isent the profound darkness the photoners created it is litteraly the origin of all darkness. the one who was at the start of the universe. in other words every version of falz/profound darkness comes from it. not some failed experiment the reason it was able to reach out was due to the protag being so corrupted with the experiment profound darkness, its described as always existing.
This song vibes more like you're fighting the destiny of the universe itself (to save the Guardian) rather than just the primordial darkness. And you're not fighting *for* the fate of the universe, but *against* it.

Oof this game have realu good traks, for example the intro of omega persona, the mascarade battle, apegnia, sodam and one of my favorites , the alternate ost of paleg ( its one of my fav xd)
I just going to say that even if I've never played this game, such amazing music it has. This feels to me like it wouls fit in a final battle agains a previous fallen hero or something like that, or the protagonist being the final antagonist
in simple terms of this fight, the hero literally fighting the physical embodiment and desire for nihilism, chaos and the destruction of all that exist. Not even Ex-Death has anything on it.
@@Metheos91 Well, Exdeath might not, but Kefka kind of becomes that. the Clown god of Nihilism. "Hopes? Dreams? These are MINE TO DESTROY!" his whole schtick was everything ends so why not get it over with.
Kinda is! The path that is the game's full story makes you dip again and again on the corruptive opposing force in the universe. The finale has you dive straight towards the source in what's pretty much a suicide move- a decision your companions pull you out of just in time to convince you to punch space cthulhu instead. The song really, really fits that tone of hope pulled from anguish, and it's properly followed in the song for the next phase by a duet that's pretty much singing the MC into remembering that he's not alone. It's a pretty damn climatic moment, all things considered. Man, it's so rare for an MMORPG to actually have an ending, huh?
Honestly now im debating if primordial or persona has the best pso2 track. I love this track because it has a sense of elegance and victory to it, but that deep percussion reminds you of what you are fighting, then phase 2 being a power ballad for the player.
Really happy to finally fight the HTPD version of this fight and win it. Was a really rewarding experience with running fighter knuckles. Love this game so much idc what anyone says

Ngs is the biggest letdown I've ever experienced, coming from og ps02. My entire clan left for ff14, and I don't have the will to go on playing ngs alone and find a new clan. Haven't played since they released bouncer, I wanted it to be good... so bad
@@justadude8893 These days, I still play this game because it fits my lifestyle perfectly. I don't need to spend a lot of time online to progress smoothly. The game's balance is excellent. However, the repetitiveness and monotony of the game remain the same. The only thing I'm looking forward to now is the story, as it connects with our character in PSO2. The protagonist is the same person.
New genesis has big ass boots to fill, narratively and boss design wise, the new kids on the block are still in not even close to topping the experience of the og pso2
Outside of PS02, I can only think of a handful of other games that have epic osts as good as this. Astral Chain and Bayonetta being a few. Those Japanese know their stuff.
Ace Combat and Project Wingman (the latter being Western and has a single composer) too. Go check out tracks like Hush or Kings for a similarly epic vibe.
Hate to be that guy. But this is Shiva, AKA, The Profound Darkness in it's most basic state. So it's technically a female. imagine her Wave Dashing though :/

It's a boss fight music, but, while the fight itself is separated in 3 parts, the music is only 2 parts, the change of part happens at 3:48 here. In the fight the 2nd part starts when you cleared 1st phase of the boss (destroying 4 eyes tentacles), and go on/loops until boss is defeated. However, it's only one music overall, it's not really a medley
Translation patch had it as "gomorraz" when i played the quest, so i went with that for easier finding, i can't really tell if "gommoroth" would be the right one as JP got "ゴモルス" (go-mo-ru-su)
@@Metheos91 Kind of. Primordial darkness is just a different name for Dark Falz, which is the big supernatural evil of the phantasy star series. The difference was in tone and how it was handled: Dark Falz (at least in PSO) was more of an evil corrupting force that can neither be controlled or really understood. The final boss of both chapters was a person that got transformed, but they were just monsters that didn't really talk, and there was no "coming back" from being transformed - it made it more threatening and mysterious.

The origin of PD is that it is an anti photon existence that has always existed since before and the birth of the universe and was made even more potent when the Photoners made it into a form of an All-Knowing Computer to simulate Xion. The entire Photoner Race's negativity end up corrupting Copy Xion and gave form to PD. PD was never an evil being, but more of destructive force of nature that as being in the form of Copy Xion it only sees complete annihilation as the answer to every suffering in the universe. The only reason the characters in PSO2 can come back from becoming a DF or goddamn PD because of probably well thought plot device abilities existed, if non of those existed then non of them can go back to normal. PSO had non to turn back people to normal, or end up misusing D-cells instead till shit hits the fan.

The real name of that being was never announced or recorded anywhere and not even Xion knew what the Profound Darkness really is. The two and only persons knowing of the real Profound Darkness is us the Protagonist and Shiva because we fight it loop after loop after lopp and she fight us with it loop after loop after loop. Shiva even keeps her memorys of the former time loops because the Primordial Darkness is not affected by memory loss or anything hence why she knew who we are and why she saw it all like a game. That would kinda explain why the sudden name change of Profound Darkness into Primordial Darkness because we know its real name. So Primordial Darkness is its real name and given the fact Matoi states that Sodam is its real form the origin name is indeed Primordial Darkness Sodam. Primordial Darkness is more like a "title" so its name is Sodam. The question why the Protagonist knows its name despite Sodam not being able to talk is also pretty simple :" It was inside us". If the vessel gains the memorys of Sodam then we just like Shiva should know all Sodam does.

Felt like the composer oopsed too much epic into Over the Universe and had to reuse some of it for this theme.
