Polyester lining is for me a no go for a waxed jacket. Fine for sport jackets though. Polyester is smelling fast and needs very regular washing - kind of contradicting to a waxed jacket. Or the liner needs to be removable and should be washable separately
Nice video. The Filson short lined tin cloth jacket is also very nice and is a waxed jacket but does not have an inside pocket. . I have a black one. I like the length on the jacket in your video and the fit looks very good and also more affordable than the Filson and also made in the USA. I might consider getting one. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your reviews and discussions and for showcasing the usefulness of the items in your vids.

I love this jacket so much. It goes with me everywhere and I use it as a work jacket too. I slid my elbow across sharp steel and it didn't scratch at all. However you said it was super soft flannel lined. Mine is rough as heck! 😅
Huckberry sent me the unlined version for review this past summer. And it was not that bad against the bare skin. It did not stick, feel too clammy or leave wax residue on my skin. Even after wearing it all day long. I do agree with you on the hand warmer pockets. They should be lined.
Unlined waxed cotton will stain the garments under it
@@dbmail545 not true. The unlined FNT jacket did not stain any of my clothing. I e worn the hell out of my jacket (and still wear it on a regular rotation). Also tell that to James Bond and his unlined RGT.
Just got the unlined version the other day for $125 and I absolutely love it. Honestly not too bothered by the waxy feel, I've definitely worn worse textures. It fits fantastically. I saw a lot of people say the arms are a bit short on the unlined but they're honestly perfect for me.
A waxed jacket has been on the mind for at least a few years now. I'm more than happy now that I've finally bit the bullet.
I prefer the cotton flannel lining of the Thursday jacket. I been retreating waxed cotton rainsuits with 5 minutes in a dryer turned inside out

Mad respect for all the videos. Keep up the good work!I got mine some time ago and what really annoyed me was the rattling of the cuffs button against my watch. I fixed it by glueing with contact glue a bit of leather to them, now this jacket is working well for me 😊. Overall I’m only in for about 3 months but it has enough room for layering due to the boxy fit.

I think the polyester lining might have been intentionally chosen. It will have less friction against the underside of the canvas and won’t absorb any wax that’s rubbed off from it. The only real complaint I had when I got mine (and then returned it) is that they don’t measure it properly when cutting it for the outer layer, so there would be excess flannel draping well into the waist-band panel. Also, it would be nice if they made an effort to line up the stripes in the lining more accurately. If not, go for a more narrow or subtle pattern.
Not sure if this has been mentioned in the comments, I don’t recall it being mentioned in the video, but Flint and Tinder make a wool-lined version. It is about $358 USD.

I find that Walker and Hawke, is great company that’s over looked. Made in England. Fair price. With classic look. And i find wear over my Barbour.
And Filson for the money is just not the same.
My W&H needs rewaxing but I grab it alot in the fall. Duluth had a big sale so I picked up one of their unlined Fire hose canvas trucker jackets and it fits like a dream. Not many reviews of that one out there.
Have you looked at the P&co waxed trucker - it's half the price and much as thicker 15oz material. Sizing is pretty tricky though. The medium fit me really well but it was so restrictive on the arms I think I need to size up.
The lining in the sleeves makes it hard to get on over hoodies lol

If there is an apocalypse, I will choose extreme good leather boots, merino wool Cargo Pants, Merino wool Shirt/Tshirt, and a Heavy Wool Shearling Coat (Filson Shearling Mckinaw coat).
Just be warned that polyester holds your BO smell so if you want to wear the crap out of this jacket I recommend getting some disposable armpit guards or something otherwise it ends up smelling like an old polyester gym shirt. To bad it’s not wool
The filson or freenote cloth ones are superior IMO.

hello from FRANCE, thank you for this review, and all your work, and your advice always wise .. An alternative to this jacket can be the Scout Jacket from Iron and Resin excellent quality or Pike Brothers with their superb and original Miner Jacket in waxed version, but not lined, cordially.

I saw these in rewaxing vids. They don't gain "patina"....they just look a mess.
And why use a heat gun? Just melt the wax, leave the jacket in hot sun, apply with small sponge and you get a perfect result.

Yeah. It’s always like that with the classics but they never go away.
I own two of these. The Havana and light grey color. Overall, I'm quite pleased with them. However, I I agree with you 100%. The pockets should be lined and there should be two buttons at the sleeves for adjustment. The sleeves run long and being able to adjust them would be nice. I also have the FIlson Tin cloth trucker unlined and a Filson soy wax trucker that has a wonderful moleskin cotton lining. The polyester lining is kinda of a bummer, but it works and will most likely wear better than cotton. Very well done video on this product. Thanks for sharing.

People lie to themselves about cotton. It is a horrible fabric to wear on the skin. Polyester is great to be worn against the skin. I like how people say cotton breathes. No it doesn’t, it absorbs moisture. I consider the polyester lining a plus.
Tru dat. Cotton is a horrible moisture wicking material. I remember the moment I discovered Coolmax socks....I've never worn cotton socks since, and I've never gotten any blisters after long running workouts.
F1hotrod, I disagree. Eg Barbour sleeves lined with polyester, walk around with Barbour= sweaty wet arms. Its gross.
@@blueband8114 couldn't it be more the case you're wearing a type of jacket for too warm of weather? Do you sweat in polyester workout clothing while being idle? Or what about a light winter down polyester lined jacket in the below freezing weather?
@@blueband8114 all my under shirts I wear are synthetic polyester like materials. The ones made famous by under armor. They are the smoothest most comfortable, and instantly wick away any moisture. Going back to a t-shirt feels like wearing an old dish rag. The sleeves you are talking about, isn’t that the material they put in sleeves so the jacket slides on? If so, that material is not made to touch the skin, it is made for a shirt underneath it.
I think you’re right that polyester can be more comfortable (although I’ve never felt like cotton is too rough) and can possibly be more breathable but I think the downside is that it holds onto smells more than cotton. Apparently there’s some science to this but I didn’t look into it deeply when googling how to clean BO out of a polyester lined jacket. Doesn’t matter for undershirts when you wash them regularly but if this jacket isn’t meant to be washed I think it becomes an issue?

If you are going tp be using this for any intensive work do not purchase. Poor quality fabric doesn't hardly hold up to even a branch snagging it.
This jacket is a big disappointment.. going by the size chart I should be a medium so just in case I got a large and the thing is huge in the waist and tight in the arms and chest. The sleeves are so narrow you can’t wear anything but a tshirt underneath and the first time I went to use the pocket it ripped.
No where near worth $300
Listen to yourself. It may be a budget jacket to you, but to a lot of of us, nearly 300 pounds is quite a lot for a thin jacket.
There was no value proposition intended. Simply a comparison with similar jackets from a material and construction point of view and their price tags. I’ll still stand by what I said. If you’re in the market for a wax cotton jacket. This represents good value for money.
