    excellent lecture that confronts a key problem on the backhand side: laziness. often mid-level players who believe great backhand technique will open up their game refuse to learn/practice the leg work and jumping skills to make the more effective and athletically challenging overhead shot. badminton demands intense athleticism and there arent any shortcuts or workarounds for that. if you want to play better then get real with persistent hard work and foundational technique and stop dreaming about the taufik backhand, which you will never have. there is a place for the backhand, especially in singles, but like the coach says, first things first. if you like a lot of fast action without moving your feet too much, you may try video games. fyi, coach al liao, in china where i train and play, they call the china jump, china jump. and they call the scissors jump, malaysia jump (after lcw) : )
