This was the first publication of Arkanoid on TASVideos. Arkanoid strongly resembles the arcade game Breakout. In Arkanoid, the paddle is actually a spaceship, and the bricks are space walls. The goal of the game is to break through the space walls and defeat the villainous Doh in order to escape from the space labyrinth.
This incredible TAS of Arkanoid, made by Genisto, inspires awe in a manner comparable to adelikat's Gradius movie. No ball is ever lost, even though three balls are juggled in almost every level.

I beaten Arkanoid on both versions. Man the Arcade and NES ports of ARKANOID are still legendary even in 2023!

glitchless TAS runs are so interesting to me due to the fact that this is TECHNICALLY possible for a human to play in real time, but they'd have to know the game inside out, along with amazing reaction and hand-eye coordination.
It's lovely classic NES Games like this, Donkey Kong, and Balloon Fight that aren't very well known for their music.

I'd like to know what the hell posessed the devs of this game to think that putting in nothing but high pitch beeps whenever a block got hit was a good idea, especially with 3 balls X(
The limited amount of sounds the NES could make
These games were designed to play with 128Kb ram machines on a Z80 ... the 80s were the best, you don't know the feeling of loading a game like this from a tape!!

@@WilliametcCook Technically Taito could have just used the sample channel on the NES sound chip to make sounds just like the arcade, but I can see why they did'int do that, because it would be a little useless, plus I think only one sample at a time can be played, which is why in the few NEW games that have voices no sounds play with it (well I think more accurately only one sample at a time is capable). Klax on the GBC used digitized samples from the arcade original, and that did a great effect, with the GBC being very simaler spec and power wise to the NES, I call it kind of like a portable NES, which is what people back then probably thought of it.

Arkanoid's NES port just has so much more to it than the port that was made for Arkanoid II. The later actually is much less faithful to the arcade than the first Arkanoid's port to the NES.

I know you're making a joke, but this is a TAS, or Tool Assisted Speedrun. This means that it was basically made to be 'perfect' as the person who made it either went frame-by-frame to have perfect input or re-recorded sections of the game any time they made a mistake.
This maybe faster by using a cheat where you hold A+Start to skip the stage up to Stage 16. Maybe someone could do that since it could be in the run that is'int a warpless.

Ridiculous difficulty. Best i ever did without game genie was stage 15, and that involved a lot of very lucky bonus drops. Lazer on stage 5 etc.

How come he doesn't get any power-ups after the first one? I get a power-up dropping down almost every alternate brick.
I dont know why but after the stage 2 in my original NES game the stages are not the same !

The bottom bricks should be gold, making it 4-turn zig zag. That's why I died a lot in that round.

+Zio Pepo Probably (lol) it's a non-glitch TAS... there are a lot of categories for TAS... Such as 100% TAS, Glitchless TAS.. or just the opposite, TAS with glitches allowed, those are the ones you may wanted, as they aim for the fastest time without completing all the levels.

I DID pass all the levels and the boss! But with 256 lives. Haha! I was also able to put a level higher that the last to bug the game with a level that doesn t exist full of bugs.. but playable ! Its actualy 260 in 1 cartrige.
