- Baton Rouge is a fascinating city. It has two of the most interesting State Capitol buildings in the country as well as one of the most recognizable universities. In this series I briefly cover a city's history, population, skyline as well as a few things that make that city unique. Thanks for watching: Baton Rouge Overview | An informative introduction to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Thanks to @LambertBricks for providing the historic map of Baton Rouge!

Proud to be from Baton Rouge
Hey
I was born in Baton Rouge (my family left for Saudi Arabia when I was young then settled in Houston) but don’t have much memory of it. We mostly just pass through it on the way back and forth to New Orleans, sometimes stopping at Tony’s seafood. I learned some things. Nice video
Thank you!
Love this series so much!! So many interesting cities I often know nothing about. The stained glass in that old capitol is unreal!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy these videos!!
But be careful cuz whatever is online is totally different when it comes to reality
Nice sharing... Beautiful video 👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
finally a good video talking about the most interesting things in a place without having to endure shots themselves making the video. Keep on making videos.
It’s nice to hear the good things about my city
Awesome! Thank you✌
You’ve definitely convinced me to visit Baton Rouge someday!
Nicely done! I'm from Louisiana and you gave me a few things to check out that I did not know about.
Thank you! 🙏
Very interesting. Love all of these videos.
Thank you!!
Cool video on a city I’ve never thought a ton about! It’s definitely a smaller city but I think a video about St George, Utah would be really interesting!
Thanks! That's funny you say that because I love St. George. I have family that live there and I've visited many times. I'll add it to the list, but it may be awhile :)
Great stuff once again!
Thank you!! 🙏
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Baton Rouge is an amazing city. However, I was a little disappointed not to see Southern University highlighted in this video as well. If you ever make an updated video about the amazing city of Baton Rouge, please consider include them as well. ❤️ Southern University is located on that historic bluff, at the site of the “red stick”.
Only listened to this as I was listening to the Carpenters hit "One More Time" which mentions Baton Rouge in the first verse. Beautiful song. Beautiful city.
Loving your videos lately. Any plans on doing smaller cities like Fort Collins, Colorado or Spokane, Washington?
I’d love to see you make a video on Las Vegas!
I love state capitol buildings and I would definitely appreciate a video just about your favorites.
Noted!
@@CityGeek I've been to 23. There is a book that I have that I think describes them well: "Temples of Sovereignty".
Great video as always!
Can we get a Gainesville, FL video one day?
Thanks! And yes I’ll add it to the list 😊
Geaux Tigers! ⚜️🐯
great video
Thank you!
Love this series! Are you planning to make videos about european cities as well? I would recommend less known cities like Budapest.
Thank you!! Yes I think I eventually will
This channel has made me fall in love with United States of America
Maybe you could do an overview of Honolulu sometime soon. I feel like it's an American city that sometimes gets overlooked even though it has over 1 million people in its metro.
What an interesting city. I suggest you do Lincoln, Nebraska. How it got it’s name and became the capital is a interesting story
I already have actually 😊
you should be able to find it on my channel page
Yet another overlooked city, especially in the shadow of New Orleans. A couple other cities like Lafayette, Alexandria or Shreveport would be good candidates too. A lot of big cities are vastly overlooked or underrated. Good video!
Thank you!! I’ll have to look at those cities you mentioned. Thanks for the comment!
@@CityGeek you didn't do nothing about Southern University either. There's more than just LSU here.
@@joep5815 right
Can't half way do it
Louisianan here. Baton Rouge may have horrible traffic and isn’t laid out great, but it has awesome food, plenty of great people, and great history.
And of course, LSU permeates every aspect of the city’s culture. The campus is beautiful.
And if you keep walking north from downtown Baton Rouge, you will hit Exxon; a petrochemical plant that is bigger than downtown BR 😂
I think Shreveport has a great skyline, you should do a video on that.
Yes, you’re going to help me
Another great City to check out would be a suburb of Seattle called Bellevue.
Oh boy, a city I’ve actually visited. You did another fine job with this overview. That massive downtown bridge over the Mississippi River contains ALL the east/west bound traffic of Interstate 10 traveling across the country. So many big trucks to boot. Last time we visited we got stuck at the top of that bridge with traffic crawling at 5 mph. We had a commanding view of the river and downtown! Also, LSU has a huge influence even as far away as here in Houston. We see college caps and shirts from Texas A&M, University of Texas, and then in 3rd place LSU…not University of Houston! Imagine that! After seeing your fine video, I need to give Baton Rouge another chance….if I can just get off that bridge! 🥇⭐️🥳🏆🌠
Thank you!! That doesn’t surprise me about LSUs reach extending into Texas, but hopefully the University of Houston becomes more popular now that they’ll be in the Big 12. As always, thanks for the comment!
Be lucky you’ve only gotten stuck on it once. This is a daily thing 3x a day for people here 😩
Can you make a video about Top 10 skylines in Europe. Please!
If so, please remember that La Defence (Courbevoie, Puteaux and Nanterre) is part of the Paris metropolitan area. ;)
Yeah I’ll add that video idea to the list! I’m going to do a few city overviews first but I’ll definitely do a skyline ranking for Europe at some point 😊
BR a wild place
Please do Wilmington, Delaware soon :)
Yep, I’ll do it relatively soon 😊
Excellent! Houston next, then Fort Worth, then San Angelo 🙂
You should do one on Honolulu in O’ahu in Hawaii
these vids are so sick its like right up my alley for my weird niche interests. im sure you have a big backlog of cities to cover but as a fan i think a video on phoenix, san diego, or boston would be really cool
Thanks! I’ll definitely get to at least one of those videos relatively soon 😊
I had a professor named Dr. Griffin from Baton Rouge. 😊
Amazing series!! Would love to see the capital of Canada..Ottawa.
Thanks! It’s on the list 😊
The view from the Capitol tower facing south: "oh that's a nice view." Then walking to see the northern view: oh no... Ew..." That oil refinery is enormous.
I live in Louisiana. The old State Capital building is stunning. Traffic is terrible. A new Mississippi River Bridge is in the works.
I am here because of JWaller
What about Vicksburg and Natchez MS?
This is now called St. George, LA 😊😊
Do Saskatoon sometime or Denver
What did Mark Twain have to do with the old capital building?
He said it “was the ugliest thing on the Mississippi.” I should have mentioned that specifically in the video.
Geaux Tigers!
Do Winnipeg
do more content bro.
Ennis Law firm is in baton rouge one of best law firm highly recommended
What royal Bengal tiger doing here ?
Can you do Cleveland or Cincinnati, Ohio next???
Or like Houston Texas or Jacksonville Florida or like Austin TX or Pittsburgh
My grandson from Baton Rouge but I’m from New Orleans

Ben to Austin Texas
Got your life jacket on there? You're practically swimming in humidity!
You did not mention Southern University!!!
Youngboy
If you had another 90 minutes, you could have scratched the surface of the culture of Baton Rouge: the food, the music, the architecture, the hunting and fishing, and of course, the food. (Yes, I know I said food twice; it's incredible!)
Lived here personally. Would not recommend it especially if you like cities with actual good transit options. The traffic is always a mess and you can spend much of your life here stuck in a traffic jam. The city as well is also not very safe even around LSU's campus. I loved being there for a time but the problems with the city ended up outweighing the pro's and the grass is truly greener after moving out.
Play stop the game I’m not running for president. I’m not ready for anything. I just need you guys to tell the truth.
Books cheak in aye ron Bernard need a storage building house ND a swimming pool by moms house if so it the cemetery girl friend or by himself summit file from July 10 to agust 10 discovered. 🎉69 melly Florida to br until he gets notice 6000 $ from gov- 1000$ provide hood everything should go right n stay up n n I think cs3wys should stop until notice n let 52 no a team
Let’s not forget, this is one of the most violent cities in America!
For a historical city on the Mississippi it sure is dog ugly. And it’s in Cancer Alley……
Lol Baton Rouge. The worst traffic of a city its size due to the I10 bridge over the Mississippi.
I rate the video a 1 out of 5. It does not mention that Southern University the only Historically Black College and University System is located in Baton Rouge. Southern is a large part of the fabric on the City the home of the Southern Jaguars which has produced 3 NFL Hall of Fame Football Player. Southern bands has played in Presidential Inauguration, Rose Bowl Parades and NFL games. The University has produced military Generals and has alumnus in all field all over the world. You missed the mark by not even mentioning The Southern University.
It sucks here don’t go
Backward Rouge. Buttcrack of the universe. 4th worse traffic in US.
Yeah, because the rest of Louisiana is the shinning example of progress 🫤
yuck
Baton rouge sucks unless you are here for an LSU baseball or football game. Shit city. Lived here all my life. And the dude commenting about crawling 5mph traffic, why is that good? Good food tho.
Cancer Alley
What a dump. Terrible roads and I-10 is a parking lot.
baton rouge use to be fun but it's a war zone now
Perfect location for GTA 7
