Great video. I have the exact same problem on my e55. it's stuck on high and says airmatic error after a while of driving. Gonna go get it scanned somewhere

I have an e55 and I miss how smooth the ride
Was with the bags but on turns it felt heavy even in sport mode. I replaced with coil overs and the ride is rougher but handling is better but most importantly since it’s more mechanical you can diagnose problems easier. One less headache. The air bags went out 2 months after I purchased the car my fault I guess for not checking the airbags prior to buying.
I will not sacrifice airmatic for better handling. Such a great system overall. But I agree it could be a bit stiffer in sport2. Lowering links help with that a bit. I took it to a track and it did well.
I can't believe people would change the greatest aspect of these cars to a coil-over.
If you are a performance driver like I am, there have been curves and turns in some cars that challenge your driving ability.
This airmatic system takes most of that challenge to the car's ability to perform these actions out of the equation, leaving the rest to just your driving abilities.
Now everyone can learn to drive like a cop.
Love airmatic too! There are folks out there who try really hard to convince me that coil overs are the best 😀
Converting to coils springs on some olders models are the best way to eliminate cash consumption.
Respectfully disagree with you. Unless you’re building a race car, conversion will ruin the ride and hurt its resell value. Air struts aren’t cash consuming things. Fix it and be good for another 10-15 years.
Great video, this will come in handy on my 08 E63. I also think it’s used to know when to tighten the seat bolsters during exuberant driving.

Great video. This fault was typical of my car. Showed Malfunction after a mile or so. Could be a sensor only. Will have it diagnose first. Thanks.
I hope it resolves your issue too. But if the diagnostics is too expensive you might want to swap the sensor as they are not expensive.

Hi I have a 2007 CLS 550 and its throwing the airmatic code: "Power Supply Valves Short Circuit to Ground" I checked for continuity on each electrical plug going into the valve block and there wasn't any. The resistance was greater than 1.5 ohms. Is there supposed to be continuity or is there only when the relay activates? Do i likely have a break in the wire? Can you please help me im really stuck!!!!
Good Morning. I have been following your videos for a long time and I see that you have technical knowledge about AMG model w211. I don't know if you could help me in a case related to Airmatic. My vehicle is an E63 w211 year 2007 and days ago I changed the two Arnott 2301 and 2300 front shock absorbers. The problem is that I want to adjust the height of the car and I do not know the factory angles to adjust the height. Perhaps you know something about this matter. Hi Raul. Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by factory angles for adjusting the height. Once you replace the struts you should not need to touch the factory settings. You may need an alignment.
Hello. Question 🙋 sometimes my car is parked overnight, on a very slight slanted angle. Sometimes it lowers a very little amount (I can still stick 1 finger in between tire) and when I start the car it says “vehicle rising please wait” it takes maybe 5-10 seconds for the message to go away. My car has 65K miles. Is this just the self leveling feature taking place or does it sound like a Airmatic fault, or normal? Thank you
I don’t have an error message either.
Most likely you have a minor leak somewhere. Mine does the same now and I know it leaks from the rear bags. It drops if I park it for 2-3 days regardless of the angle. No errors otherwise. You never know when the minor leak will become a major. It may take years or months. I plan on changing the rear bags in the summer.
@@AccentOnCars I know you mentioned to scan, is it possible for a code to come up if I try to get it scanned? Or I have to find the leak myself
Scanning won’t hurt, but sometimes there are no codes when minor leaks occur. So you may end up paying someone and not get answers. The front struts can be tested for leaks using soapy water, but the rear ones can’t be as they have a dust cover on them (assuming you have original Bilsteins). Mine is pretty obvious as the front holds the height but the rears don’t and they’re original 15 year old parts. I will replace them with Arnotts.

I don’t, but FCPEURO might have it. Rockauto is another one. You can also find many OEM Mercedes parts sellers online.
I have the weirdest situation on my gl 450 I seem not to have any leaks vehicle dont drop but when I hit bumps it hits hard feels like no air in system
Two thoughts I have: is the vehicle in its highest setting? It gets pretty firm when raised. Make sure it’s in the comfort setting. Also, are your tires pressurized properly? Too much and too low air will feel like you described
@@AccentOnCars I'm wondering if it could be the tires when I purchased the truck it had AMG wide tires on it which they said wasn't a problem when I put new tires on ,the car dosent lean to one side nor dose it sink after sitting for awhile even if I raise the vehicle it stays in that position I just had the rear shocks replaced in totally lost thanks for the response. Also I just have the go 450 not the gl 550 nor is it a AMG
Tires might be the culprit. But the sensor might also be. Mine occasionally will not lower itself in sport even though on the dash it says it did. I will replace the sensor soon.

Hi there. You can buy the sensor when this problem starts happening and resetting the code doesn’t help.

Sorry to hear that. Diagnostics happens next. Could be a blown air strut/bag, could be the air line, could be anything else. I’d also listen if the compressor works. There are companies selling aftermarket and remanufactured units if you need a new bag such as Arnott.
@@AccentOnCars I called my mechanic. He said get rear shocks 🤷🏽♂️
Don’t do it before checking carefully. Sometimes it’s not the shocks but the hoses to them. Most likely it’s shocks but could be smth else. You can buy them if you can return them easily if you find another culprit. Also, ideally both sides should be replaced at the same time to maintain same level of elasticity and behavior, but that’s for purists.

Fronts are easy to replace yourself. If it’s the struts that need replacement you can buy remanufactured units from RMT or Arnott to save money.

Yeah, they’re manufacturers. Google them to find their sites. Arnott sells their own brand new units as well as remanufactured MB units. Both come with lifetime warranty. Replacing the fronts is easy. Tons of info online. But at first make sure your problem is blown struts not something else.
