    Let me know if you would like more solo games like this too. I'd be willing to record more of these if people want more.

    Thanks for the videos I really appreciate your getting down to business quickly. On some channels they spend so long getting ready and getting distracted there’s almost no gameplay.

    I already had the book but wasn't sure how to run (play) a solo adventure. I'm new to the tabletop RPG games. Your video really helped me understand how to use the book and apply those rules/mechanics to my own game. Your series on 'Basic Fantasy Roleplaying' is also fantastic. As a sidenote, I found Chat GPT useful for generating descriptions or dialogue based on you rolls. Its worth a look if you don't have a GM.

    • @IAcePTI

      Well you may allrady discovered this but any Overflow damage your PC does against some one in a group it will get the rest damage into others. Example: You are fighting against 4 goblins with 1HD each. You rolled 6+1(7) = 2points of damage. Becouse each Goblin have 1HD means you killed 2 becouse the 1 damage you done to the first left you 1 pt of damage to the next one of the group. If you had done 10 = 4points, you had killed the entire goblin group in a single turn.

    • @TheBasicExpert

      Yeah the far east flavor is cool in the art. But visually different. At leaat the rules are compatible.

      Scarlet Heroes is designed to be very compatible with Old School Dungeons and Dragons modules/settings. Grab some old setting books and do a quick conversion (rules in the book) and boom you have a new setting

    Scarlet Heroes is an awesome game book as you said, for any system. I believe you may love as much as I do a ttrpg called
    D100 Dungeon. And yes more solo playthroughs are always great fun to watch when done by someone that does them even as close to as great as you do them. Thanks for
    this exceptional video Sir.

    Just checked the rules, your PC takes damage on the same damage chart as he uses to do damage, thus when a goblin rolls 1D6 for damage and scores 6, that's only 2 HP damage to your PC

    • @TheBasicExpert
      @TheBasicExpert  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      NPCs do normal damage to PCs. PCs do damage against the number of Hit Dice of the NPC. This essentially turns their Hit Dice into wounds.

      @PrintAndPlayPodcast ปีที่แล้ว

    I think I need a bit more of an explanation of how a Solo Dungeon Adventure works using Scarlet Heroes. I'm reading it and some of the first paragraphs are not making sense until I get to going to the next room.

    • @TheBasicExpert
      @TheBasicExpert  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's more room by room. The length of a corridor doesn't matter as much. So you are not making a dungeon like Appendix A in AD&D, it's more abstract than that.

    Hello, can you help me understand when are treasure troves of H and G used at all? Also when I roll some treasure and it says M type or C type, which numbers should I use if they are not written? Like for example when is H11 Junzi’s Private Purse supposed to be used? Is it adventure threat of 10, maybe urban adventure vault that I roll which increases its threat by 1 in some other table? It is confusing me. Thanks for your help.
    Also is making magic items/crafting in general really supposed to take whole months to a year?

    • @TheBasicExpert
      @TheBasicExpert  ปีที่แล้ว

      The trove types often tell you what they are best used for. So when I solo game, sometimes the oracles will say, "Use trove type C for the appropriate dungeon you are in."
      Monster stat blocks also list the type of trove to use for the treasure the monster may be carrying or what is in its lair..

      I don't have a video where I created my map. I made the map in Worldagrapher. It had the land masses originally and then I used the scarlet heroes rules to discover where stuff was. Good luck with Scarlet Heroes. I have further videos of me solo gaming with it. More to come!

    I can see how this would be useful overall but some of the rolls are always going to contradictory. Hard to wedge two opposing rolls together.

    • @TheBasicExpert
      @TheBasicExpert  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's where in solo gaming you have to just make sense of it somehow and edit the rolls and what happens a bit. And if you use it at the table with a group of players, the same kind of editing applies. I think it's a good tool overall. Tonight's stream was an actual play where I ran Vik's fighter through a completely made-up on-the-spot adventure with this game. Should be able to catch the replay.
