I was chasing hidden triples all over the place on this one, meanwhile not following up on the 47 pair in r6. I've learned a lot of new techniques from your videos, my current challenge is to follow up on the digits/clues I find. Thank you for powering through it while sick!

Thank you for taking your time to show us what is going on. The fact that you still have the strength to be up and around doing puzzles when you're not feeling well is a testament in of itself. There are days I just can't focuses and have to come back and revisit a puzzle. I appreciate your time and I do hope you feel better soon.

I struggled today with this one and had to watch here to find the triple!

My performance in this puzzle wasn't the greatest. But at least this was easier than the gargantuanly difficult puzzle by Philip Newman(?). I hope that you recover.

I spent ages starting at this puzzle. The hidden 18 pair in box 1 eluded me for about half an hour. So frustrating when that happens!!!!! argh!!!

I actually used the 47s to solve it, couldn't be bothered to find what I was missing 😅 Feel better soon dude 👍

I could not find the 589 triple in column 4 for the life of me. Thank you!

TIL you can have a Triple even if one of the squares doesn't have all 3 of the numbers! (That's what I was stuck on today, once I realized that I could finish the rest)

Yep! Once you understand why a triple works it becomes clear that this is the case :)

Thank you for the video and you’re a trooper doing this when you’re unwell.
I am puzzled (pardon the pun) by the 589 hidden triplet from 13:14. The same 5789 from row 6 are also only possible for the cell above on row 5. So I am just wondering was this really a hidden triplet? Was that perhaps really a quadruplet?

    • @Rangsk
      @Rangsk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

This is a naked triple, not a hidden triple. Those three cells can only be from 589 so the rest of the column can't be 589 or they wouldn't have enough digits to fill into them.

I am still trying to understand this naked triple since there are four possible boxes in that row which have digits {5,8,9} as possible solutions ? Thank you for your time. I have learned a lot from your videos.

had done some crosswords for fun but only easy ones (the easy and medium nyt ones and maybe only 3-4 of them at that). girlfriend and i decided to give this one a try with no prior experience and an hour and 20 minutes later we finally got it 😹 although we did use auto candidate
some things that were fun is that we did discover the idea of doubles/triples/however many uples but it was definitely tedious- this website seems great for annotating both possibilities vs. one of these must be something
might keep playing these! cool youtube channel

we discovered pointing very quickly but soon realized it wasn’t enough so we had to start thinking about doubles/triples etc

That 1 in the bottom center was my kingpin and I was completely missing the triple that revealed that 1. Thank you for this guide, it helped me a lot! As soon as I got that 1, the rest of the puzzle just fell apart!

Today i found the 47 pairs and the 12 pair rather quickly. But i had to pencil the whole puzzle , before i saw the triple ( no spoiler )

I don't mind criticism or critique, but vacuous statements like this seem to only be intended as harmful. My method is designed to help new players understand how to solve and introduce them to the basic concepts of solving a Sudoku. Many of my viewers have gone from being completely unable to solve the NYT Hard to now solving it regularly. If you have actual productive feedback I'm happy to hear it, but do keep my goals in mind please.
To be clear, speed is not my goal when solving these puzzles. Instead, it is to practice logical rigor and help my viewers gain an intuitive understanding of the logic involved in solving Sudoku. The systematic method I employ helps to ground these solves and remove the mystery. If I just sat there plonking digits over 3-4 minutes to solve these and avoided taking notes, then no one would learn anything and it would only serve to stroke my own hubris.

Anybody can say that they completed these puzzles in 5, 6 or 7 minutes - who cares? Perhaps you should concentrate your obvious genius abilities on more difficult puzzles.

I would say anyone who finds these instructive and helpful videos tedious for whatever reason, might want to look elsewhere. No need for negative comments. Many people are helped by these videos and the techniques and logic that are explained. Thanks, Rangsk!
