IMPORTANT NOTE: All players in this lobby VOLUNTEERED to be smurfed on. This is a private lobby (not ranked!) and all players are students from our coaching partner, the grand champ bootcamp. Just want to make that clear (if you're new here). Thanks for watching (:
I appreciate this note a lot. It does the game a disservice knowing that so many content creators are in actual ranked lobbies smurfing, even though they mostly mean well and want to help people get better. So thank you for being mindful of that! I think it could even help promote the GCBC by putting a disclaimer at the beginning of these videos to let us know the players are volunteers and that if we join the GCBC we might have a chance to play with you in a similar video. Thanks Luke!
Analysis like this is so much more helpful to me than individual tutorials. I'm still in the ranks where game sense and being in the right place at the right time is more important than grinding mechs, and watching videos like this has made me improve significantly faster than the hours I wasted trying to learn to dribble or wave dash.
Luke, for ranking up; this is the best series ever!! I really want more of it to teach us game sense. I appreciate the effort you put into this series.
This was really good. I liked how you showed short clips from other games as an opposite example. I'd love to see Flakes in this channel to do analysis together.
Love the analysis from an advanced player. I do a lot of the stuff you point out at the lower ranks. Hopefully, you’ll do more of these to help an old guy like me get better. 🙂👍
Spooke, a message from me to you. I used to *HATE* your content. And for good reason, it confused my lower ranked friends, contradicted itself and basic information essentially available for anyone. Not to be rude, but you not only had a ego, you didn't back it up well. Recently, you've been maturing, correcting old information, being a better and more clear coach, and actually providing useful information. You've finally come to your senses, and now you are creating the best content you have ever made. It's unfortunate with your current health problems and just how life is, you won't be making content like this for much longer, but we all appreciate how hard you've been working for us, and how now finally, you are truly one of the best educational Rocket League youtubers on the site.
Awesome stuff, love the format! Its like having a personal coaching session, doesn't hurt that im diamond... so many situations that are similar to what happens in almost every game. =)
This is perfect. If you did more videos like this you’d ad years to your content creating! I’ll watch every one. A lot of us hard stuck diamonds lack theory/ strategy.
I love that style. It was well explained, edited, and had great tips. I love that you made mistakes, so there was more to learn in the video. Could you try to make this type of video in High C2 please?
Last clip where you critique him booming it from his side... To be fair, in Diamond, most people don't have the recovery you do to get back and booming it often leads to a goal when the other team is pushed up. Some of your analysis works because you trust your mechanics to get you back in situations, whereas Diamonds are way more inconsistent. The same exact thing happens in regular soccer where a player isn't confident in their dribbling so they just boom it away despite having no pressure on them. I call it hot potato.
It's easy for people like this to forget the actual skill level of who he is talking to. When Plats can't rely on teammates, the positioning doesn't really matter. Plats hardly have control and the mechanics they do have are far from consistent. Trying to read the other team is hard when you don't know if they will even hit the ball. Constantly "faking" lol.
I havent been this frustrated trying to play a comp game in years, getting GE in old CS:GO was gravy, 100hrs in to RL and still only Gold II Div III in 2v2 and 1v1. Doesnt help i play with plats most the time so trying to stay away from all the bad habits i see in those games.
I’m a diamond in 2’s but whenever I play with my friend we beat s12 champs and sometimes gc’s and beat them by just playing smart like you’re saying but when we play ranked it’s off and on it’s weird but this help’s definitely
guys think about this this is a private lobby with people who are being coached i would like luke to make the same video but with diamonds and plats who have not been coached
Anyone got tips for a plat who is highly inconsistent?( I'm awful in the air and okay with the ball on the wall just struggle when its in the corner and mostly play the ground doing pass plays and solo dribble plays)One game I can carry and predict most thinks just decent to good gameplay but the next I struggle to even get possesion of the ball and become El Potato :(
rotate well, don’t chase past half court if your teammate has possession, when rostering back rotate opposite side of the ball and defend the nets goal post from the opposite side of the ball as well. Really should never defend inside the net. Always try and be left or right goal post
I recommend doing some training packs to help with your aerials. Even just the preset "All Star Aerial" training pack should help. Also, consider watching some of Spook Luke's or Wayton Pilkin's videos on how to aerial. If you put in the training time, you will see the results. Hope this helps!
Any GC can carry a Plat in 2s versus two Diamonds. What would be more useful is seeing a Champ try to carry his Diamond teammate in the high Diamond lobby. like what are the small slightly better decisions and that the Champ is making versus the Diamonds, that'll help the Diamonds get better.
my friends don't listen to me when I say punting away the ball is the worst way to create offense. then they act some type of way when I make controlled touches on the ball (as in not punting it away) like dawg that is why y'all are still plat 😭
This is why I’m still plat lol. I do catch myself smashing the ball away on clears that I could just control with no pressure lol. Something to work on now for sure.
Good video. Maybe you are slightly too mechanical on some situations and too panicky in other but it's very educational also analysing the teammate and opponents. The problem I have a lot is that my teammate is too offensive and whenever I make the 'mistake' of pushing up or going for a ball, like twice In a game and the ball falls wrong for me or I get beat and my teammate is like always behind the ball. When you are on the ball they are always like right behind you or are pushing up behind the ball. What to do with teammates like that?
i tried to join but it said somone else was using the code for the phone number verification or invalid multiple times. i cant talk on the discord. i tried sending dms to the admins or spookluke but it didnt let me.
Are you telling these guys that your in their game?? I feel like they are giving you a lot of “respect”. Im C1-C2 (also mainly 3s) but you don’t get a lot of time in the corners. Like I see you grabbing boost and waiting for it to come down. I can sometimes do that but how to I play corners with people ape ing me?
I just need to practice shadow defense n patience. I had a lobby say they were reporting me first game after watching your shadow defense video lol Edit: your best videos are made with a live audience in my opinion. They ask the questions I would have the majority of the time
@@SpookLuke But the point was that it shows how much a smurf can carry the game when a smurf is in the game. It was a blanket statement blaming smurfs as a whole not Spookluke directly
@@sirsulley8110 well if u play like a diamond against smurfs, u definitely arent going to win. if u start rotating and positioning properly, you will guarantee a harder time for the opposing smurf.

I honestly like this educational format as it is. It's well edited and pretty easy to rewatch at any later time.

Your gameplay analysis is really helpful and nicely paced. As a Gold it gives me info I have not even considered before so big thank you
I enjoyed how harsh you were on calling out your mistakes. Its always good to be your own worst critic.
This is something I've needed for so long. Positioning. Saw many mistakes I do. W video.
This was a great vid & review - pace & info was perfect

This is what I've been looking for to try to improve my game sense, so tysm
Now this is quality content I needed
alternative title: gc absolutely destroys these poor diamond players

no one is making those air dribble shots in plat lol
It's not the actual air dribble that they can't do, the setup was the difficult part

Yessir
can u make a vid on how nintendo switch is a good console for rl?
Ur lieing lol
Lol it’s definitely not. Crappy block graphics and the controllers available for switch just are not designed well enough for this type of game
First comment.
Btw how do u choose the people u Smurf with ?
They're in the GCB coaching program.
yes i like. yes, keep doing.
It's easy for a GC to carry against diamond opponents. Take a challenge and play against GC opponents and a plat/diamond teammate.
And now I can’t do GCBootcamp bc I’m on Xbox 💀
I realy like that kind of vid. But it is very difficult to implement this in Game.
im stuck in silver
Its easy to say just do this and that when you have consistent mechanics.
In games passing patterns

The thing people don't realize is that smurfs lose just as many games as they win, otherwise they end up at their real rank.
your backboard defense would be good in champ let alone whatever rank this is. even low champs don't defend like your "plat" defense
