  • After a busy couple of weeks, the house is finally cleared out... and the twists and turns in this episode made it one of my favourite clear outs so far!

    My husband used to have our kids and whichever friends were at the house help him do any yard work, cleaning, dump runs etc, and the boys without dads living in their homes have thanked him for teaching them how to be a real father. Keep giving kids the training.

    I am glad you help people instead of throwing everything away. I've been homeless and know how it feels to not have basic needs. It's our slow season at work so I've gone without and just started getting back on my feet from being homeless. Keep blessing people and God will continue to bless you.

      Wow, Amanda that’s really great. Congratulations. It’s been snowing here for days. I live some miles to the west of Alex so can’t imagine being homeless in this town. So keep on and we’d like to her how you are doing. It’s tough out there. 🏆🏆🏆

    • @loukatme2
      @loukatme2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @Cate7451 thank you so much. As much as I love the snow I work outside. I have worked outside when it's -4°F but i had to tell my boss i can't work when its that cold (i work with metal and cant wear gloves to do the work i do) and when I don't work I don't get paid, so I haven't been able to pay my bills much less get food most of the time, unfortunately. Its great when the weather is good but I didn't have money saved up since I was homeless not long before this job. I do appreciate having a place now, a job, and I was able to help some people before our slow season but I wasn't able to help as much as I wanted. Maybe once the weather is better and work picks up I can help more.

      A lady friend of mine once told me something wise. She said if you don't take care of yourself first then you're no good to the people and the animals that need you (I have some retired racehorses and a dog). She went on to say don't let yourself drown or you can't be of service to anyone. So i guess what she was saying is it's not selfish to provide for yourself first because you can continue to help others if you are provided for. Keep that in mind and best wishes going forward.

    Regarding the Wonder Bread, many years ago National Geographic magazine had an article where a landfill/dump from the 1970s was excavated. A perfectly-preserved loaf of Wonder Bread was found. I always jokingly say "It's a 'wonder' that it's bread."

    This guy seems to have led a very active and interesting life. Lots of sports (kayaking, golfing, skateboarding, etc. etc. etc.), gaming, tons of vehicles, and mechanics❤. Definitely a man’s man. at 60 he died young, but I think he must have lived hard and led a full life.

      I just think he had a younger son who moved away. Maybe went to live in another country for school or work. Half the stuff looks like it belongs to an older outdoorsman and the other half looks like it belongs to a teenager or twenty-something person. I'm guessing that's who the one relative who lives in another country is.

Helping Ukrainian families, friends, family members with things they need, recycling everything possible. Yes, getting your money back as you work very hard and smart to get that place ready to sell. Of course keeping the things that you need or want to better your future projects. Wishing you the best with the auctions.

    Happy to see some of your old friends. I'm sure everyone misses seeing your friends on the old videos. Love them all.

    You can probably buy a torch to attach to a propane tank to melt the snow around the bbq,mower, and wheelbarrow. It will probably come in handy for another time too!!

    I had a friend who used to go on trips all over North America in a truck and camper trailer. One year they stopped at a convenience store and grabbed some stuff, and one item was a loaf of Wonder bread. They threw it in a cupboard and gorgot about it. A year later, when they started getting ready to go away again, they found the bread. It was kinda hard because it was stale, but there was absolutely NO mould. 😬

    Another great job and an especially noble project. Helping the families from Urkrane. These clean up projects remind of
    The 3 stages of life: Wanting stuff. Accumulating stuff. Getting rid of stuff.
