Kind of crazy he got a head coaching job after ONE YEAR as a defensive coordinator
He was such a bad defensive coach that I thought he was brought in because of his offensive mindset. I didn’t know until this year that he was supposed to be some kind of defensive genius.
Arthur Smith, offensive coach, fired.
Frank, offensive coach, fired.
Josh McDaniels, offensive coach, fired.
He doesn’t say or remember that 4 out of the 5 coaches fired after 2022 were offensive, and only one defensive.
If a guy can’t coach, then he can’t coach. It doesn’t matter what side of the ball he is on.

Pete Carroll is one of only three head coaches to win a college football national championship and a Super Bowl as a head coach. Carroll won with USC and the Seahawks. The other two are Jimmy Johnson (Miami Hurricanes/Dallas Cowboys) and Barry Switzer (Oklahoma/Dallas Cowboys).

People gotta see Pete Caroll’s full “farewell” press conference. Truly legendary, no matter who you’re a fan of. He got a standing ovation. How often does that happen at any press conference? Like him or not, he’s as sincere as they come, and it shows.

I think the Seahawks looked at how the 49ers have been in the super bowl, 3 NFC championships in the past 4 years despite having so many injuries, having their roster pick picked off, coaches and defensive coordinators picked off every year and with all that the 49ers are once again in prime position to make another run, not to mention Kyle finally got us out of that chokehold going 5-0 against the Seahawks in the past 5 meetings including playoffs. The rams have also been in 2 Super Bowls 2018, 2022 winning one of them. They definitely want to go younger and get the Seahawks back in the brightest lights but then again what were they before Pete got there.

absolutely correct. Everyone is shocked about firing Pete when, if you watched the team play this year, you saw a super talented roster that didn't know how to execute basic things which falls on the coach.
I think the stuff about O-lines is true. Russ played behind pretty bad lines during his time in Seattle, but also carried that team team through all that terrible O-line play. If you're going to have horseshit protection, you need a guy like Russ to pull out magic scramble moves in a majority of the games.
Funny Geno was sacked only 31 times in 15 starts, only time Mr. Limited had less than 40 in a year he started 16 or more games was his rookie year where he also threw less than 400 passes.
And Colin went from Russ critic to full-blown Ahmad Rashad right about the time he moved to FOX. Totally knowledgeable and objective here.............................................

He had happy feet because he was conditioned to RUN FOR HIS LIFE. When he had good protection, for example his rookie year, he tore it up from the pocket.
On Pete’s insistence with Geno. I think he knew this was it and didn’t have time to develop a young QB. Plus, Smith really hasn’t been the issue, it’s been defense. Love Pete a ton for everything he’s done, but a change definitely needed to happen. There’s never been above average O-line play from his teams and D-line has been a mess for years now since Frank Clark was traded in 2018.
You're really gonna love Dan Quinn then, who not surprisingly became mediocre once Vic Beasley was exposed as a one-trick pony (among other things)

Making this strictly an offensive vs defensive coach argument is lazy. Demeco Ryans is an awesome coach, and putting Vrabel in the same sentence as Staley and Rivera is insulting. Most teams would love to have Vrabel as their coach. Getting coordinators right is important but saying well he leans defense so he can’t work in the NFL is just lame.

The cracks were getting more apparent this year with the lackluster behavior of our defense, its regression over the course of the season and how many times Pete would spend the week saying we should've run the ball more and should've done this or that...and yet we'd come out next week and not run the ball and not change a thing...playing players in positions not suitable to their talent, that was a Pete thing throughout his time here, but it was most galling the last couple years.
I'm beginning to think Karen mandated Pete keep Ruff Rider's hand-picked OC as a condition of trading him and he finally told her to get bent. She's made the Hawks into the Mariners, watch them hire Dan Quinn.

I think these's a possibly that Carroll wanted out but wouldn't say it publically and that is smart. He loves the organization and wouldn't do or say anything to hurt the organization and especially fans. So he gets a spot upstairs. I'll really miss him down on the field though.

This has nothing to do with Geno or the offense. Pete would still have a job if, as a defense-minded coach, he could have fielded a decent defense in the last 5 years. This years defense was one of the worst in the league and it has been bottom tier for the last 5 years. Watch the Seahawks games Colin - the defense was the problem, not the offense (though I'm not saying our offense was great).

Not sure. Pete has drafted a specific type of mindset as well as physical attributes. It might be the opposite of what happened to Pete in New York. He followed a rough guy and the players didn't buy in. If Jim comes in he'd be the exact opposite personality wise and the players might not buy in.

Did he even watch a Seahawks game last season? Wagner is like 100……. just like most of the players on their roster at the skill positions on offense. Their entire defense needs an overhaul, same with the O line, and same with the WRs. Even if Seattle had a more legit roster more capable of competing with legit contenders, Geno wasn’t getting them out of the WC round. Seattle is nowhere even close to contending and looks like they will be irrelevant for a decade or two with how big of a rebuild their roster needs.
