Where did you get your soil? And how thick should your sand cap be? (like a inch and a half, or just a inch? Thank you for this video.
I got my soil from home depot. It is just topsoil, but be careful of any additives that could be in it that may effect water parameters. Getting soil from your friends garden is a good option just make sure to sift out dead organics like small sticks. As for the sand cap it should be about double what your soil layer is (e.g. 1 inch of soil and 2 inches of sand). It doesn't need to be exact just but this is the rough guideline that I follow.
