- Today on Booze On The Rocks I show you how to make the Paradise Cocktail. This is one of those layered Malibu cocktails that is gorgeous to look at. It just screams tropical and drink me. In fact you would think you were sitting on a beach in paradise with one of these.

PARADISE COCKTAIL
2 oz/60 ml Malibu Coconut Rum
3 oz/90 ml Pineapple Juice
.25 oz/7.5 ml Blue Curacao
1 oz/30 ml Water
.5 oz/15 ml Grenadine
Method
1. Add first two ingredients to a glass and mix.
2. Add third and fourth ingredients into another glass and mix.
3. Add Grenadine to hurricane glass.
4. Add crushed ice into glass on top of grenadine.
5. Add Pineapple and Coconut rum mixture.
6. Slowly add Blue Curacao mixture to layer.
7. Garnish how ever you want.

Instead of using water, you can use a ounce of vodka, in the Blue Curacao.
What if i add white rum to it will it float??

In my experience, you don't have to put the grenadine in first.
I like to mix the rum (or sometimes flavored vodka) in the glass with the juice and ice first
Then i pour the grenadine on the back of a bar spoon that is pressed against the side of the glass.
It sinks right down, with little mixing of color, its kinda awsome how the "red" just slips down the side and pools at the bottom.
The addition of water to the "blue" is a great tip though, I've been carefully pouring that stuff for years trying to get it to layer, now its so easy thanks!
I like doing that with the grenadine as well. But sometimes I also like to pour it straight in to get a mix.
The god damn water does the trick with the blue curaçao! If only I knew that before my cocktails would’ve been a success.

Made this on a Sunday afternoon, had a couple of buddies of mine over and they were really impressed with the way it was presented, made it using Blue Chair Bay Premium Coconut Rum

Such a blissful drink!! I love the layering - how beautiful! Talk about looking inviting and delicious. In the sun, and I hope we get some over the weekend, this cocktail will transport me to a very warm and tropical place. St. Barts here I come - it is gorgeous there!! Or Maui!! Actually Maui is probably my favourite warm place to go. And until I can get away on a well deserved vacay, this will help!! Cheers David!!

Maybe try it with passion fruit juice instead of pineapple I think that would pair well with your grenadine.

I want to try this drink… but I’m out of grenadine. Would cranberry juice work as a substitute?
Unfortunately no. However you could make a cranberry syrup by adding the same amount of sugar and heating it enough to incorporate it together and that would work.

You can, you may need to adjust the sweetness.
Do you think it will works with watermelon vodka on the bottom instead of grenadine?😇
That is a good Question. However a watermelon vodka would not have enough sugar in it to stay at the bottom. but you could layer it closer to the top if you would like.

Great catch :) I had to re-watch the video. Its been a while. You are correct its a pineapple rum mix. I was probably thinking about the the orange garnish.
Dont have to add water if u add liquor to Blue Curacao it will float on the top with the liquor so its rum base put rum in it again i do this all day in my yard...
You have a good point. I followed the recipe on this one, but a good rum would have made it just that bit better. :)
Use Largo Bay Coconut Rum instead of Malibu. Largo has a richer flavor and is a few bucks cheaper!

Just discovered this channel and after watching several, seems as if you have a love affair with Malibu Rum.
Andrew, I do enjoy my Malibu. But its also one of the only Coconut Rums I can get locally. I am working on trying to get a different kind.
