I learned this by accident. I got caught by surprise 1 arm in and 1 out, I followed the arm in side and stepped over the head and kept going. I ended up backwards in mount on the guys back😂. I was just shocked I was still alive and I was in good position.
White belt question…is there a chance that he can shoulder crunch or arm bar or some other awful thing to the arm you extended over his arm in the beginning of this series?
Yes. I would recommend never straightening out your arm in that scenario, for fear of being arm barred. Worse case wrap that arm around the thigh and roll into the kamura and force him to flow through the progressions (triangle/olmaplata/arm bar
Eh. If you do it correctly as Tackett shows here (arm above, framed on neck, rotating the right way) the armbar isn't really there. You're shutting his hips down and rotating the direction opposite of how he would threaten. Arm crunch is difficult too because your knee is there and he's not in a good position for it anyway. Just make sure your arm is turned the right way to not give up anything easy. You'll find out if you do it wrong, and learn. That's what drilling is for :)
Fellow white belt here. Try it on some blue belts in ur gym and find out. With the gi I'd imagine they could catch a collar at soem point and set something else up from there.
I've been using this since blue belt and it gets u out of deep fully locked in triangles. They'll have to switch to reverse triangle or omaplata to try and finish you.
this is a fire escape, thank you, william! no idea why there's so much negative feedback in the comments. just shows some people wouldn't know gold if it smacked them in the face. appreciate you providing us this conteent!!! hope all is well.
Thank you Coach! I will try this escape in the next rolling session! I love the Sankaku Jime (triangle choke), but I figure out that before I can execute it properly, I must know how to escape it first! ^^
Well they could try, but it won’t work effectively. 1. My ankles are crossed, so it would be hard to get the ankle lock grip. 2. They don’t have my leg controlled with their legs at all (like an ashi, single leg x, etc) 3. The position we are in, I can easily threaten my own attacks that would put them on the defense and keep them from attacking.
1) the hand next to their head stops their rotation for the armbar, so if you have weight on your hand, they shouldn’t even be able to clear your head with their leg. 2) my hand is on the wrong side to get caught in an omoplata (even if they manage, omoplata is way easier to escape than triangle, so that’s a route I’d take anyway 100%) 3) and they can’t straight arm bar you with your arm on that side of their head, they need my arm on the other side to threaten that submission. I got 15+ years of experience Kaleb, and ranked top 10 in the world. Trust me, and just make sure you don’t forget any steps :) it should serve you well!
@WilliamTackettBJJ not saying it hasn't worked for you but everything i said are things ive used or could do there's absolutely a straight arm bar transition from there by simply bringing your hips alittle to that side, you have the teepee finish to the triangle, gogoplata by getting wrist control transition to the omaplata if they don't roll out before you get hip control you atleast have a sweep but you can stop the roll out in the omaplata by simply sliding your foot under the chin until you get hip control or after bringing your foot up to the neck reach up grab the head switch your hips back to square up alittle pull the head you have the go-go. And if you're high enough level to heel hook if you're gonna go as far as stepping over the head you take the near side knee bar you sit back at that level you're less likely to lock in a leg lock before the opponent is able to defend which then you're at high risk if losing position giving points away.and literally everything I'm saying about this are things I've successfully used on multiple occasions. I'm not as experienced but Ive been training 11 years am a 3 stripe brown belt and what promotion weight age class that you're ranked 10th
@@kaleb2133 those are all great attacks, but if you follow these steps to the escape correctly I assure you, you’ll escape. The only way your opponent can finish you, is if they are able to change the position (by breaking your posture, changing the positioning of your arm, etc) trust me, I’ve trained with plenty of high level people and wouldn’t show this escape if it doesn’t work on the best trianglers in the game. Im ranked top 10 at 88kg under flograpplings rankings (the main organization) and was previously ranked #3 at 77kg. Let me know if you have any questions AFTER you try it out 😃 id love to help!

Alternatively if you want to be a Dick follow arm in side knee on neck and extend away.
This escape is genius I have trouble getting out late all the time.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😃
How do you prevent arm bar

If you get the leg over you're pretty safe but there's on omoplata there for the taking if you're too slow..
@@lima_wawae6283, I’m 51 with stiff hips and a mercy-offered blue belt last week. I know my fate in this scenario. 🤣

Would it be better to be your left arm around and outside he’s neck, so you could use leverage to help push when your circling out of the choke?
Foot on other side of neck is $$$ but I find that though to get in a live roll, so often simply check the hip with the knee
Very nice william thanks alot
once you escape he’s open for an armbar as well
Never heard of this one 😊

I find it crazy that you TH-cam hasn’t blown up cause you are at the highest level keep up the good work Mabye you can go over some deep half next
But when you get your legs involved, won't they try for the straight ankle?

@William Tackett it definitely did! Thanks man! As you could probably tell, I'm still new and learning 😅

this is choy bar city
If they turn and grab the leg like your supposed to this is useless
Hey can’t turn because I’m blocking his head with my left hand on the mat.
You're gonna get armbared regular or straight armbar omaplat go gogoplata and more if you do this

Then you get caught in the Omaplata. White belts shouldn’t teach.
Omoplata* 😜
And my arm is on the wrong side for him to omoplata me. If he tries, then my arm will slip out and I I’m out.
