I can see it happen since this is Square we are talking about, remember how they treated Chocobo GP at launch, as long as it’s not that bad I see this game last for a good amount of time
The Splatoon similarities aside, I think a bigger problem here is the game’s identity. You kept calling characters by “the pink hair” or something. And, as you said, the reps were saying you are doing great when you yourself were even confused as to what was going on. It kind of makes me feel like this game isn’t very approachable. Something that made Splatoon approachable was the distinctive characters. You play as an Inkling. And, you can easily get a sense of how well you are doing. So, there is no confusion. Here… that doesn’t seem to be the case. I think they need to market it better.
I agree about marketing it better. This is a 3-month old post and I just today learned of this game because of a random junk email from like Square-Enix. Lol.

Like the analysis of the game. Still the concept is weird why they are fighting with champagne foam, it doesn't hold up to the lore of Splatoon of post apocolyptic squids evolving to become humanoids and developing tech to make their ink more lethal. Wished Nintendo did more crossover gear, they got so much IP they can put in the game but sadly its less than even mk8, goated that you remember the Squid Girl crossover, I really wished they brought the dress back again.
I think it's "messy" because the map is so flat. Splatoon has more cohesive maps or rather solid objects that separate the things and makes understanding whats happening easier. The one thing I think they should change is having more standard objectives, something easier to grasp. In splatoon its filling the map with ink and thats simple enough. Death match, control, splatoon like foam the map? something like that would be way better I've seen a couple videos and it's really difficult to understand whats going on. That point of "maybe they'll do crossovers" just made me try to imagine what it would look like for Cloud Strife to be doing this, which was very funny. Also I have to say I really like the way the foam is rendered. It makes me want to jump into it.
one of the key component of Splatoon is the "resting area/zone" wich basically is the place where u choose to play online, to play solo, or to even customize your character, yea sure the pvp is fun and all but its not the only piece of the puzzle, and this game is just that one thing, its like say "its a Splatoon type of game" and just show off how characters "paint" the floor with a gun,.. is quite embarrassing if you ask me. And just because you slap some "hot" or "Waifu material" type of girl on there it wont do the trick, the game dev (or who ever is in charge) needs a better understanding of what a "Splatoon game" means.

When I a splatoon player says this looks messy You know something is wrong I guess Turf shooters are always going to be visually messy but wow splatoon looks so much cleaner than this new game
The dev team behind Splatoon put a lot of effort into the UI and have made improvements to it with each game. Like objects becoming transparent so you can see your character at all times, or the ink tank on the back of the player always being visible no matter the angle (even from the front!) so you can see how much ink you've got left or enemy sounds being louder than teammates so you can figure out friend from foe when a Special, Sub etc. is launched. It's little things like that which help players read a match even when it's pure chaos. This game's UI so far doesn't feel like it has that same attention to detail but hopefully with an established player base to get feedback from, their dev team can start making improvements. ^-^

Idk about Ninjala being similar to Splatoon at all, but Foamstars just has copy and pasted a lot of Splatoon specials lol. There might be some other similarities like you travel faster in your color as you go into a "transportation mode" and stop shooting and other stuff. All I know is, there's some interesting ideas in this, probably not my kind of game if its more death match and also just not being on Switch lol.
I just wanna put some positivity in this space. The devs of this game are not trying to make the next Splatoon or take players away from Splatoon. I'm seeing a lot of comparisons but I think this is big win for PlayStation players who don't have a switch and never played Splatoon. You can say it's not fair for it to be a PS exclusive but Splatoon is a Nintendo Switch exclusive as well so that argument is not valid lol As a big Splatoon fan, I've said many times over the years, I hope one day we get a Splatoon game, where we don't look like little kids. We are grown up and maybe we can play as Original characters or they'll make a Splatoon like game where we shoot water instead of ink. And now seeing this all come to fruition is like a dream come true. I wish them all the success and hope ppl will give it a chance!

but It would have been cool to have splatoon on PS5 which actually has voice chat and messaging and better frames and graphics
its light vs dark from kid icarus uprisings multipayer
Idk about Ninjala being similar to Splatoon at all, but Foamstars just has copy and pasted a lot of Splatoon specials lol. There might be some other similarities like you travel faster in your color as you go into a "transportation mode" and stop shooting and other stuff. All I know is, there's some interesting ideas in this, probably not my kind of game if its more death match and also just not being on Switch lol.
I really just wish you didn’t talk about splatoon as if turf war was the only mode
This feels like Splatoon without any of the elegant design.
It will be tragically funny if Ninjala outlives Foamstars lifespan.
How many strikes has Squeenix made since they tried to heavily monetize their games since first mentioning NFT's?
Shock horror! A video not about TOTK!
As much as a blatant Splatoon ripoff this game is, I will say the foam changing elevation is actually a neat mechanic to the splatoon formula.
Free, Free. Free. Please tell me it's free. Please. PLEASE
Trying to hard to say it not similar 😂
the exploding shark reminds me of reefslider
i mean if squares is gonna be inspired by another game it might as well be splatoon
Dudes complaint was that the game has a reload button instead of a splatoon reload 😂
I think it's sad that square pays hookshot media so much that their nintendo site has to promote their non nintendo game
I love it it makes me want to play it
Seems like sony really likes to copy Nintendo...i remember they had a sony version of smash bros too but it failed horribly...
and what sony have to do with this? this is a Square game...
also, Smash created the platforming fighters genre, and now everyone is doing and its more accepted nowadays. Sony needs to try that again.
oh, just ps4 and ps5, welp... there goes that.
Kinda have more depth coz u get to climb the foam wow
Ugh... Dissidia FF NT already did team play and it didn't do to well because the mvp is basically the carry... And one person makes it hard to carry a team if it is shared life pools...
It's not like Splatoon because you're not trying to put paint as much as possible? Can we please get an actual Splatoon rank warrior to seriously try this game so they can know what they're talking about. Not a turf war casual. Kyo? Leafi. Anyone else that plays Splatoon?
Look ima keep it a buck with you splatoon clone or not if the servers are better then it's already different XD
Square enix will not be able to support this game enough
The way you guys have been pushing this mediocre looking product lately has me suspicious - tell me, have you taken any form of incentive from Square Enix to promote this game or their catalogue? Honest answers please.
Isn’t this their first video on it? Lmao you people are so extra
@@Alexis-no4yjsensitive is more like it.
Or maybe have you considered that they genuinely like this game for its pros while also acknowledging the cons?
It’s not so much the video, but the overly gushy presentation on both the site and this video. It all feels very… corporately motivated?
And yeah, I’m so extra for being skeptical of a videogame news outlet 😆
They should copy more ans just stop thinking.
Just make reloading while surfing, make weapons more weaponlike... those bubbles are way to big
😂😂😂
What a ripoff
They need to add a mode in Splat where one team is laying paint and the other is trying to wash off the paint. I also wish they’d add glitter to some paints sometimes
Feels different or not, it’s still a rip off of Splatoon and copied almost everything from it
Can’t wait to see this game have $20 DLC called THE SOAP EXPANSION
