I love my 5D Mark IV. Is a real beast!
I have a 5DMklll that I bought new in 2016 barely a few months before the 5DMklV came out. Would it be worth upgrading to the 5DMklV now that prices have gone down or wait for the EOS R5 that is said to be coming up this summer. I primarily shoot photos rather than video. I have made investments in several L lenses already.

Hey man! I was watching your video and just noticed the shots in cuba. Do you havr any content there?
Using the 5D, mk.iv in conjunction with a RedRock Micro camera cage. When mounted into the cage, one cannot open the battery compartment, without completely disassembling the camera from the cage. When you're on a shoot, and have to change batteries quickly, this task takes way too much time. Any suggestions on a workaround, to be able to do this faster? When Canon made the mark iv, they seemed to have changed the design of the battery compartment door. It's a bit larger, and makes it impossible to open through the open port on the bottom of the camera cage. Why? Any recommendations, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Upgrading from a T7i/800d I looked st the 90d but decided to go FFrm and get the 5dmk4 or the EOS R.. Im really leaning towards the R..
The cons on the mk4 is no articulating screen and stuck with ef lenses and the cons on the R is no 1080 at 120fps.. I am planning on using for photography 1st vid 2nd and an update could fix the R's shortcomings..So ill most likely get the R.
Don't know if you can help me but I have a first world photographers problem. I have been using my 5D mark III for several years now and its getting pretty tired. I have several speed lights, strobes, triggers, all Canon, etc. I am wanting to add an additional camera (I do paid shoots) and am torn. Should I just get a gently used Mark III, add a 6D II as a backup, or get a new 5D Mark IV and use the III as the backup, or get a whole new system (Fuji, Sony)? I want to add a lens of two as well. Budget is about 4k. What would you do? I love Canon but some of the new Fujis and Sony have me intrigued.
So is this a good upgrade from a canon T5i? I’m a photographer but want to learn videography and noticed it’s a hybrid DSLR… also looking for something compatible with my Crane 3s Gimbal

Consider the much cheaper Canon 5DS / R. On Canon reliability look @ the MANY posts on pre-mature shutter etc failure of the 5D MkII.
Corrections: A 24mm lens on a full-frame is as wide as a 24 mm, it is in no way as wide as a 16mm. If you use a full frame 16mm lens on crop sensor then that field of view is only 25.6mm. "Weight (inc. batteries) 890 g (1.96 lb / 31.39 oz)" not 4-5 lbs body only.

Thank you for another excellent review! I’ve traveled with this camera from the U.S. to Barcelona, Germany, Paris and Rome since 2016, and the size/weight doesn’t bother me in the least. I also carry a 5DS-R as well. Stills shooter only, but I really like the full frame sensor and Canon glass. My travel lenses include the Canon 11-24 f/4 L, Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L ii, and Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L ii. It all fits neatly into a Think Tank Airport Essentials backpack with lightweight travel tripod. For video, I just use my iPhone.
What are your thoughts today? In July 2022? I’m upgrading from a 5D Mark II and I have so many options! I’m more of a 70% photo 30% video guy.

I have a 5DMklll, is it still worth it to upgrade to 5DMklV , with discounted prices offered these days, or wait for the EOS R5 coming up this summer. I have heavily invested in several EF L lenses already.
I would wait even if you don't want the R5/R6. The Price will probably drop for the 5DMKIV or you can find it second hand. Goodluck!

yes, sure
Full frame necessary for 'cinematic' look? You mentioned it compared to 1917 and, well, Roger Deakins has had nothing but good things to say about shooting on a Super 35 type sensor and only recently started shooting to larger sensors. It's also worth mentioning that the Alexa LF wasn't the only camera used in filming Joker. The Alexa Mini was used as well, which is also a Super 35 sensor. Nice to have full frame? Yeah, absolutely. But "necessary"? Certainly not.
I would love to buy it but, money is a problem because I bought a canon 60D:). So I just need to stick with liking ya videos.

For photography, it is case closed you do not even need to discuss it. The only issue is center focus selection. always have to reframe. was never a problem until you tried a mirrorless.

C-Log does not come preinstalled on a 5D 4. I bought one after this video, and nothing. Unless I'm doing something wrong, it's not there.
You had to buy the C-Log version. There are two versions of the 5d, C-log costs US$100 more. You can still send it off to canon to have it installed for $100.

Personally i'd say stick with the 5d mk iv and put more money into your lenses. And when cannon's mirrorless cameras are ready for more professional work then you can seemlessly transition over.

You are right about a lot, but way to harsh on the 4K. I edit 4K on a Intel 8700 identical to how I edit HD, so I have no idea what you are on about with all due respect. The issue would be the crop--and even that is not that bad. The large file sizes could be annoying esp if you depend on 4K. I shoot 4k rarely and for special projects where I am not bothered. If you busy all day with 4k, def do not bother with this camera. And for gimbal work it is a pain in the ass, way too heavy. Auto focus is not all of that compared to newer cameras. But it can be good and smooth when it actually works with a canon L lens. With a Sigma it is no good.
Well that's because Sigma lenses suck at AF, not this camera ;)
What would you pick used 5DM4 or EOS R
For photo? 5dm4. But if you are someone who wants a camera for video first, go EOS R all the way.
@@exquisitewidget4227 I was faced with the exact choice and I am 60% photo and 40% video (serious video when I do it) and I had to go 5DMk 4. Being old school I needed that solid classic camera. And it is all good with the clog upgrade. You cannot have everything but in hindsight, I am cool with my decision. But on paper the R wins.

I’m having the same debate with myself at the moment, I’m currently using a 200d so either of them would be a huge upgrade for me😂 I’m thinking of just saving extra and going to the R6, as most of my video is still in 1080, which the R6 handles without any worry of overheating. My only concern is I’ve heard some people say it feels plastic-y, which to me, just isn’t acceptable when you’re paying 2500$ for a camera

bro... “this camera alone weighs 4-5lbs??? with a good lens 7-8lbs??” let’s be serious. you think people carry around an 8lb camera and lens to shoot with?? The 5DIV body is just under 2lbs and EVEN with a 70-200 III, the heaviest lens you’d probably ever carry around for extended periods of time, the camera and lens would be just over 5lbs.
