Bob was John's equal in writing melodies and his superior in depth of lyrics.

He had to diss Bob though Bob never dissed the Beatles.

@@HeronimousPhunk Oh yes, John was very great but just blurted out whatever passing unexamined opinion floated through his head, at times.
His "Beatles are bigger than Jesus" was highly unwise.
He then changed to claiming he was Jesus for a period.
He insulted George and Paul unthinkingly as well.

Beatles were such poor musicians, that their handlers sent them to Hamburg,to play 7 days a week, for one entire year, before they played one show in the UK. When Quincy Jones went to the UK to produce them, they couldn,t play their parts. Quincy had to trick them. He sent them to lunch, and called up some first class brothers like Greg Philanganes,to do the work. By the time the Beatles got back from lunch, the tracks were laid, without the Beatles. I was never a fan of lennon.he was a weak insecure man. He let that no talent, ugly woman, dominate his entire life, his music and his finances. She even estranged him from his eldest son. I ,ll take it further, lennon,s voice was unremarkable, his writing skills were decent. Bob had a great soulful voice and his writing skills were second to none. White guys that think they,re all that ,always get insecure around charismatic black guys. Just like the famous Frank Zappa, when he was asked about jimi hendix,s guitar playing, Zappa said, Hendrix would have been better if he had learned to read music. Straight hatred.

No he wasnt, Bob Marleys father was a white land owner and (BRitish soldier) in Jamaica who had an affair with his mother who worked on his land (plantation). Had little to do with his son (Robert) emotionally or financially. So if that is a bridge between black and white then its on White supremacy terms.

You missed the earlier meeting of John Lennon, Bernie Taupin, and Bob Marley and his entourage. Interesting video.
A correction though - Chapman did not shoot Lennon at close range. Chapman was twenty feet behind Lennon when he thought he shot him four times in the back. This is something Chapman has always consistently stated and believed he did. Problem is, the surgeon and two nurses who tried to save John Lennon at the Roosevelt hospital, all stated that Lennon was shot four times in his upper left chest in a "tight professional grouping" above his heart. Three bullets passing straight through John in a direct line of fire out of his upper left back, with the bullet closest to his shoulder staying in. Mark Chapman could not have achieved this from where he was standing behind John in a dark driveway.
Doctor Halleran, the surgeon who tried to save Lennon said that not even a Navy Seal could achieve the grouping of shots on Lennon's chest from where Chapman was standing, even if Lennon turned around, which is something that Chapman and Ono said did not happen.
John and Bob were obsessed with the truth. We need to know the real truth about John's murder and investigate further why a CIA Director's son, Carl Colby, was allowed to pass himself off as part of a film crew in the first concert Marley performed at after an earlier assassination attempt on his life.

I am surprised John criticized Bob and stated Bob had lost it.
Normally artists respect each other and commend each other for their contributions to the music industry.
Bob has accomplished and contributed more to the music industry than John could remotely imagine as an individual. Bob's audience relates to the world, and John's audience is Europe and North America.
John and the Beatles were supported by big businesses, Bob started in the ghetto with almost no support from big businesses as the Beatles.
Bob was able to relate to the poor and the oppressed.
I still think the apartied in South Africa and the world crying for the release of Nelson Mandela propelled Bob's music.

It's just John being John. He said similar things about Paul & George and countless others. If anyone had lost it by that stage it was John not Bob. From Catch A Fire all the way through until Uprising Bob produced high quality work, never dipping, unlike John's hit and miss solo work. The only slight dip in Bob's work (and it's only slight as it still has some great songs) is the Confrontation album. You can hear on the production of that one it doesn't quite have the same quality control because Bob wasn't around in person to oversee it.

In my humble opinion, Bob Marley was the most important artist of the 70’s.
all the songs, Lennon mentions that are past their prime are all smoking and absolutely 💯 great songs.
Johns just jealous. Marley was the ultimate freedom fighter of music. Period.
His message of love was on a total different level to Lennon’s.
John Lennon was pussy whipped and mind controlled by Yoko Ono oh yes, who also wanted to seen and accepted and respected by the world as a freedom fighter.
Marley and the wailers and the I-Threes were beloved by all. They all emanated something special that no other musician of that era could touch. Marley was and is and always will be a Prophet. When I was 10 , I’m now 47, I beleived Bob to be God. He certainly was touched with greatness.
Yoko and John were more obsessed with their image. When it comes to Bob, Team Lennon should have stayed in bed.
    Rastafari ❤

John Lennon is 100% correct! Reggae Music was created in the Slums of Kingston as a revolutionary music rooted in the suffering of the poor. Reggae artists sung songs about Black/African unity, back to Africa, praises for Marcus Mosiah Garvey and Haile Selassie as the God of Black/African people all over the world! And true to what John was saying in the beginning Bob Marley also sung songs about the aforementioned subjects! Songs like AFRICA UNITE, ZIMBABWE, BLACK MAN'S REDEMPTION, GET UP STAND UP! SELASSIE I LIVE! But in the end he was singing songs with no mention of the aforementioned subjects! Instead he was singing songs like ONE LOVE, COULD YOU BE LOVED, PIMPER'S PARADISE, TURN THE LIGHTS DOWN LOW! No people have ever gotten free by singing love songs to their oppressors and sleeping with them! SO THE QUESTION JOHN LENNON FAILED TO ASK WAS WHO CHANGED BOB MARLEY'S REVOLUTIONARY MESSAGE OF FREEDOM AND LIBERATION FOR BLACK/AFRICAN PEOPLE TO "COME TO JAMAICA AND FEEL ALRIGHT."

Bruh, how did Bob Marley lose it when just the year before,"Uprising" he came out with his most militant album ever by the name of,"Survival"🤔??? John must've missed that album, being that at that time he was still on his music hiatus☝🏿.

Many of the first songs you mentioned where actually recorded at the back end of his lifetime, the thing with Marley was that he wasn't a one trick artist always recorded both love songs and conscious songs all through his career.

Okay I said what I said I am sticking to it! It's apparent that you have no idea what the meaning of 'SOCIAL CONTROL!' Anyone advocating for African/Black unity is a threat to white supremacy and neo-colonialism! So no doubt about it Bob Marley was watered down to fit the narrative of the white supremacy as a harmless reefer smoking wild man! At the same time the Black consciousness militant Rastafari movement in Jamaica was been violently attacked by white supremacy! But I know for you it was just about Reggae music smoking weed and white girls!

@@jay07261986 Yes, I agree. The message was never diluted. But the sound evolved with the times to keep it fresh and palatable to global listeners. John Lennon obviously preferred the raw sound of the earlier incarnation of the Wailers. Same way John preferred straight up rock and roll to Paul McCartney’s mushy compositions. Personally, my favorite Marley album is “Uprising.” So, unlike Mr. John Lennon, I appreciated Bob’s later sounds.

It shows how limited Bob Marley was musically because he couldn't adapt and childish mentally because he couldn't just have a jam session with The Beatles and record a session. "watta blood clot" or whatever they say...dumbass works for me.
