Everyone has his or her opinion about Bob Marley but Marley’s music speaks for itself…
Real Talk !!✊🏿
Bigger than The Beatles
John was known to speak before thinking and this is a case of it.
Bob was John's equal in writing melodies and his superior in depth of lyrics.
Bob was on top of his game till the very end.
John is the one who had lost it.🤣
"Equal in writing," Lennon & those monkey ass beatles were part of the Tavistock institute...they were agents! According to Quincy Jones gay ass, he said the beatles were the worst musicians that he had heard!
Bob was in a league all by himself one love
Give it a rest dude - don't disrespect the greatest artist ever Bob Marley. Peace & Love
Lennon can't hold a candle to Bob!
Real Talk !!✊🏿
Word
🙋🏾♂️ John wasn't worthy to even hold a guitar pic of Bob Marly.
Lennon no where near his level
@@clydewaldo3144 Bob Marley is the king of reggae music no matter what people say.
everyone love jah music / miss you bob see ya wen i get there 🙏🏼jah live!!! ❤️💛💚
Very interesting. I knew nothing of this. IMO Bob was never past his prime. Love ALL his releases. He is one my 3 all time favorite musicians, along with Thelonious Monk and Jimi Hendrix
Both have passed, but only one lives on. Tuff Gong.
Not the biggest Lennon fan, however John Lennon and the Beatles are still one the popular catalogs in music to this day.
Lennon is bigger. Both iconic Legends

@hw343434
😂😂😂. Lennon ain't shit by Bob Marley
@@hw343434bob Marley bigger than Lennon and richer in death bobmarley is the fithy richest dead Artis Lennon don’t that list bobmarley will now and forever
Respect to Family Man, the band leader. He didn't "lose" it either. Uprising is musically epic. From Coming in From the Cold to Redemption Song. rip to Lennon, but he couldn't be more wrong
John was great for spreading peace and love but he was still an insecure guy.
He had to diss Bob though Bob never dissed the Beatles.
Double Fantasy was a below par album and was looking backwards stylistically.
On both Uprising and the posthumous Confrontation Bob was still progressing forward.
@@thenowchurch6419 Yes, I agree. He was, like his song, a Jealous Guy. We don't speak ill of the dead and John was truly a great man. I deeply respect the song Working Class Hero. Salute to John and Bob. Great song writers and heroes for the people.
@@HeronimousPhunk Oh yes, John was very great but just blurted out whatever passing unexamined opinion floated through his head, at times.
His "Beatles are bigger than Jesus" was highly unwise.
He then changed to claiming he was Jesus for a period.
He insulted George and Paul unthinkingly as well.
He also insulted his own songs.
So I cannot take his outburst about Bob too seriously.
Both legends were fighting for a better world so kudos to both.
Uprising is a great and inspirational album. Love it ❤️💛💚
Lennon is known to speak his mind....he even criticized himself. However I understand where he is coming from. Just listen to the album Burning...it was the end of an era. The unique blending of harmonies...the unique roots settings...cannot be duplicated. Love all.
Neva expected anything else. Dem caa accept that the greatest was not 1 ah Dem. Who JAH BLESS???
Children of the oppressor judging the decendant of slaves how they wail what wailing sounds like the pain is over 40s years who feels it know it and we feel it and we know it

Bob Marley ❤️💛💚
@@Roseboat3085 he my man
Bob was just warming up. He didn’t even get to his peak yet.
The pain is over 400 years
John is speaking as a fan so he of course presumes to be an authority of some sort. Because he had studied Bob so relentlessly.
But as a outsider he couldn't be more wrong. None of his work can touch what Bob has done
I'm afraid I have to disagree with John Lennon. BTW, Exodus was release in'77, and Kaya was released in '78
John, you’re not ready. Bob Marley was better than you.
Quincy Jones once said, the Beatles wasn't a great musicians
You cant argue with Quincy.
The only one who was, was McCartney IMO
Beatles were such poor musicians, that their handlers sent them to Hamburg,to play 7 days a week, for one entire year, before they played one show in the UK. When Quincy Jones went to the UK to produce them, they couldn,t play their parts. Quincy had to trick them. He sent them to lunch, and called up some first class brothers like Greg Philanganes,to do the work. By the time the Beatles got back from lunch, the tracks were laid, without the Beatles. I was never a fan of lennon.he was a weak insecure man. He let that no talent, ugly woman, dominate his entire life, his music and his finances. She even estranged him from his eldest son. I ,ll take it further, lennon,s voice was unremarkable, his writing skills were decent. Bob had a great soulful voice and his writing skills were second to none. White guys that think they,re all that ,always get insecure around charismatic black guys. Just like the famous Frank Zappa, when he was asked about jimi hendix,s guitar playing, Zappa said, Hendrix would have been better if he had learned to read music. Straight hatred.
He was right, they couldn't play or sing but had good writing skills
Bob was a good guy, light up it's RAS BEATLE 😂😂😂😂
LONG LIVE THE LEGEND
Sometimes it takes people negative insights to promote the entire greatness from a person! Bob had it and he was like a great comet ! The world finally figured out his extraordinary gifts and powers from God! So this was a great misconception from John!
point
Why him never say this long time ⌚ bob a good man 👨 kind funny him love all people thanks rastaforlife
Bro got the exclusive throwback news
Why do I always prefer to listen to early bob marley, rather than later bob marley?
Because the further he got into his career the more he recorded in London studios and they Anglicized his music...even to the point of being produced disco by the Beegees producer...in that context it also brought out more of a contrast of smoothermusic and cleaner production that contrasted evermore with that terrible thin raspy pitchy singing voice of his.
You're probably white. His lyrics became more pro-black after Kaya, and most of you can't hang.
Thank you for this video ❤
It really brought together many historical elements from the time. ❤
Thank you for this video ❤
Thanks for the research and the snippets of information Ras Dennis...
My pleasure
Lenon spoke out of envy for the success of Bob Marley and the Wailers. He was too much of himself and never appreciated any rising musician.
All the way from Aotearoa Ngaruawahia Rastafari
The commentator talked over the important part.🥱
The bob Marley legend roots bob Marley reggae band one love jah Rastafarian band passed bob Marley
People must remember Bob marley is from both world black and white so he has to write sing and preformed for both that is only natural and remember he was a messenger trying to united the the world with one Love❤
No he wasnt, Bob Marleys father was a white land owner and (BRitish soldier) in Jamaica who had an affair with his mother who worked on his land (plantation). Had little to do with his son (Robert) emotionally or financially. So if that is a bridge between black and white then its on White supremacy terms.
That upbringing fuelled his turn to Rastafari. stop talking BS with respect 🙄
Rastafarianism and Reggae, were the created by Black people, not white people. Bob Marley, owed his fame to what he got from Black culture.
No wonder he said he was more famous that Christ and started to flopped himself. chat tu much
Robert (Bob) Marley was recording in studios with Leee Perry when Lennon was still in school pretending guitar with a broom stick😆
Beatles was more famous than Jesus. John Lennon never flop.
🙄@@vaughnreedjr6592
He felt Bob had gone soft and commercial. Same way John felt about Paul, once Paul started steering the Beatles after Brian Epstein died. You missed the earlier meeting of John Lennon, Bernie Taupin, and Bob Marley and his entourage. Apparently they smoked herb together and Bob got John and Bernie so stoned on some very potent ganja that they didn’t recover from for days.
Thank you🙏
John showed up on stage with a Bob Marley like guitar

Interesting video.
A correction though - Chapman did not shoot Lennon at close range. Chapman was twenty feet behind Lennon when he thought he shot him four times in the back. This is something Chapman has always consistently stated and believed he did. Problem is, the surgeon and two nurses who tried to save John Lennon at the Roosevelt hospital, all stated that Lennon was shot four times in his upper left chest in a "tight professional grouping" above his heart. Three bullets passing straight through John in a direct line of fire out of his upper left back, with the bullet closest to his shoulder staying in. Mark Chapman could not have achieved this from where he was standing behind John in a dark driveway.
Doctor Halleran, the surgeon who tried to save Lennon said that not even a Navy Seal could achieve the grouping of shots on Lennon's chest from where Chapman was standing, even if Lennon turned around, which is something that Chapman and Ono said did not happen.
John and Bob were obsessed with the truth. We need to know the real truth about John's murder and investigate further why a CIA Director's son, Carl Colby, was allowed to pass himself off as part of a film crew in the first concert Marley performed at after an earlier assassination attempt on his life.
John lost Bob was sing for us in these time
Funny how John criticized Bob, but NEVER criticized Yoko's "singing" though.
Thanks for this video it a bit of history sadly he passed in December 1980 the rest is history
Lennon is not as popular as Mr. Marley.
Peter Tosh get up stand up not Bob Marley
I am surprised John criticized Bob and stated Bob had lost it.
Normally artists respect each other and commend each other for their contributions to the music industry.
Bob has accomplished and contributed more to the music industry than John could remotely imagine as an individual. Bob's audience relates to the world, and John's audience is Europe and North America.
John and the Beatles were supported by big businesses, Bob started in the ghetto with almost no support from big businesses as the Beatles.
Bob was able to relate to the poor and the oppressed.
I still think the apartied in South Africa and the world crying for the release of Nelson Mandela propelled Bob's music.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
What did John think of his wife's artistry? Yoko was better than Bob! Clown😂
Bob Marley was bigger than Lennon.
Who cares about what Lennon said. He wasn’t a good musician. Bob is the greatest artist of all times.
Marley all day
Todas as crianças conhecem Bob Marley ...em relação a bob Marley o jon ficou na fila e bem a trás. Os factos estão em nossa frente .Bob é bob Marley!
I think you have taken this totally out of context. I think what he was saying is right I'll show you what Bob does, he was saying, "right, I'll be Bob Marley" he started playing, they couldn't grasp it so he said 'Bob Marley has lost it', meaning him and them, they are a bad Bob Marley, I don't think he was dissing Bob at all, it sounds as if he likes and respects Bob and was dissing his own people coz they can't do reggae 😀
John did love Bob's 1979 Survival album thou .
Exodus and Kaya were softer . John appreciated the militant anti establishment vibe of survival . So I think he only felt this way for a short spell .
Kaya album which was considered mild came before The Survival which was his most radical album
John.bob.love.the.wof.at..did.❤😢🎉cliff
Peter, Bunny and Bob was a more militant Wailers as a group until its end, 74, 75 around that time. I would think that is what Lennon was referencing.
It's just John being John. He said similar things about Paul & George and countless others. If anyone had lost it by that stage it was John not Bob. From Catch A Fire all the way through until Uprising Bob produced high quality work, never dipping, unlike John's hit and miss solo work. The only slight dip in Bob's work (and it's only slight as it still has some great songs) is the Confrontation album. You can hear on the production of that one it doesn't quite have the same quality control because Bob wasn't around in person to oversee it.
Bob so much ahead of John.. John is one guy who is Big because of the white teens not because of something more deep..
The reality is Bob Marley is bigger than The Beatles. Bob's grandkids live off the name...Lennon's son couldn't even do that.
LOL Lennon should have got GT Moore, only white reggae band artist to actually feel Reggae in that period. (Close friend of mine)
Another form of music to parrot for Lennon, first Blues then Reggae
"Marley has lost it"... at least he had "it" in the first place😅
I understand John. I sincerely think after Exodus and Kaya Bob was kinda in a rush to release some albums for Island Records. Survival, Uprising were good but never felt the same kind of emotions in it as the early and the previous Marley. Confrontation was clearly an unfinished product. But even that no one can downgrade Marley works.
John Lennon was simply wrong and Bob's music versus his proves this.
BOB TOLD THE WORLD, REGGAE IS ANOTHER BAG. Not for EVERY ONE.😊
MANY THANKS, RAS DENNIS
HAIL SELASSIE I HALLELUJAH
HAIL JAH RASTAFARI 🙏
Actually GET UP STAND UP is more a Peter Tosh song! (Cowritten with Bob, but mostly with all the Tosh ingredients!) I can see where Lennon is coming from. God bless John, Bob and PETER!!!! Check out 'Equal Rights And Justice'!
But look at all the great songs bob wrote on his own from the beginning to the end of his career
@@bigprob8744 - oh yes - all three - Marley, Tosh and Lennon wrote some great political songs. However, Peter Tosh never got the recognition he deserved as he was so much more vocally and overtly anti-establishment through and through.
Find Molly’s music pass for this world so this generation to see what’s really going on his soul rest in peace❤❤❤
Music is music.
I always thought the Beatles was an overrated group 😂😂😂😂
Thank you 👍🏿
There is a lot of the big bands from back then that are overrated and the Beatles are one of them
vast majority of white artist then and now are overrated because their ratings are based on race!
Rolling Stones more authentic back then, than the Beatles ever were.
At least the Stones kept the element of Blues within their music. Beatles were just a manufactured boy band.
Beatles were a contrived marketing and so c ial engineering vehicle. The majority of their songs were written by Thedore Odurmo,a Tavistock Institute guy. That,s how Michael Jackson got the catalogue in the first place. Odurmo passed, the Beatles did not have the money ,so bought their entire catalogue. As they gotnolder, they did manage to improve, but lennon was always a weak insecure punk. Letting that ugly no talent woman run his whole life. They could barely play their own songs, you know they could never play reggae.
I also know that Bob atoniahed everuone at Ibiza Amnesia's beginnings. Don't you think both of them were so weird in their private life, remember today you're going to dream. That's the weird thing.
Bob’s talent and his performance on stage was far better than the Beatles ever.
If he said that then he had get his penalty for saying that shortly after he said that. JAH lick im dong.
Lenon is a typical Brit, nothing more to say.
Lennon vs Nesta🤣🥸😎
Lennon jealousy of Bob Marley show just like it did with Lionel Richie. Bob Marley was and still is more famous than the both of them.
In my humble opinion, Bob Marley was the most important artist of the 70’s.
all the songs, Lennon mentions that are past their prime are all smoking and absolutely 💯 great songs.
Johns just jealous. Marley was the ultimate freedom fighter of music. Period.
His message of love was on a total different level to Lennon’s.
John Lennon was pussy whipped and mind controlled by Yoko Ono oh yes, who also wanted to seen and accepted and respected by the world as a freedom fighter.
Marley and the wailers and the I-Threes were beloved by all. They all emanated something special that no other musician of that era could touch. Marley was and is and always will be a Prophet. When I was 10 , I’m now 47, I beleived Bob to be God. He certainly was touched with greatness.
Yoko and John were more obsessed with their image. When it comes to Bob, Team Lennon should have stayed in bed.
Rastafari ❤
John was jealous of Bob and not on Tuff Gong level.
John Lennon is 100% correct! Reggae Music was created in the Slums of Kingston as a revolutionary music rooted in the suffering of the poor. Reggae artists sung songs about Black/African unity, back to Africa, praises for Marcus Mosiah Garvey and Haile Selassie as the God of Black/African people all over the world! And true to what John was saying in the beginning Bob Marley also sung songs about the aforementioned subjects! Songs like AFRICA UNITE, ZIMBABWE, BLACK MAN'S REDEMPTION, GET UP STAND UP! SELASSIE I LIVE! But in the end he was singing songs with no mention of the aforementioned subjects! Instead he was singing songs like ONE LOVE, COULD YOU BE LOVED, PIMPER'S PARADISE, TURN THE LIGHTS DOWN LOW! No people have ever gotten free by singing love songs to their oppressors and sleeping with them! SO THE QUESTION JOHN LENNON FAILED TO ASK WAS WHO CHANGED BOB MARLEY'S REVOLUTIONARY MESSAGE OF FREEDOM AND LIBERATION FOR BLACK/AFRICAN PEOPLE TO "COME TO JAMAICA AND FEEL ALRIGHT."
Bruh, how did Bob Marley lose it when just the year before,"Uprising" he came out with his most militant album ever by the name of,"Survival"🤔??? John must've missed that album, being that at that time he was still on his music hiatus☝🏿.
No, 💯% Wrong
Many of the first songs you mentioned where actually recorded at the back end of his lifetime, the thing with Marley was that he wasn't a one trick artist always recorded both love songs and conscious songs all through his career.
Okay I said what I said I am sticking to it! It's apparent that you have no idea what the meaning of 'SOCIAL CONTROL!' Anyone advocating for African/Black unity is a threat to white supremacy and neo-colonialism! So no doubt about it Bob Marley was watered down to fit the narrative of the white supremacy as a harmless reefer smoking wild man! At the same time the Black consciousness militant Rastafari movement in Jamaica was been violently attacked by white supremacy! But I know for you it was just about Reggae music smoking weed and white girls!

John Lennon may have thought he was more popular than ''Jesus'' but he was not god. How dare he say that?
Two completely different people, two different stories. I think Lennon was shot because of his opinions and Bob died for what he loved. So this means nothing for their Legacies.
John Lennon didn't lie. Although I do like uprising, kaya and survival. Bob Marley music went left after his bros Peter and Bunny left the wailers and thats factz

He said that during the Yoko stuff? The nerve..!

Who was j Lennon just a mocker 🤡
Pure nonsens 😂
Somehow John was right, Bob watered down his sound to attract the predominantly white audiences of the west. He was the only one to do that and that’s what made him more acceptable than his contemporaries.
BULLSHIT!
So survival, uprising and exodus wasn't revolutionary???
@@jay07261986Lyrically they were, but the “sound and feel” were different. Lyrically, “Could You Be Loved” is also revolutionary, but it’s still watered-down disco dance music.
@@westyraviz bob from the jump was always influenced by American music tho..simmer down was very Motown influenced..even b4 his transformation into a rasta man....his sound became more colorful but it didn't dilute his message...it expanded it...curtis Mayfield also made colorful music in a musical sense but the purpose is for the message to be digested....
@@jay07261986 Yes, I agree. The message was never diluted. But the sound evolved with the times to keep it fresh and palatable to global listeners. John Lennon obviously preferred the raw sound of the earlier incarnation of the Wailers. Same way John preferred straight up rock and roll to Paul McCartney’s mushy compositions. Personally, my favorite Marley album is “Uprising.” So, unlike Mr. John Lennon, I appreciated Bob’s later sounds.
It shows how limited Bob Marley was musically because he couldn't adapt and childish mentally because he couldn't just have a jam session with The Beatles and record a session. "watta blood clot" or whatever they say...dumbass works for me.
