I used to live in Mission Valley exactly 1 mile from the stadium and saw tons of Padres games. Two things stand out in my mind....the first was all the incredible plays that Khalil made, and the other was every San Francisco game I went to, Barry hit a home run.
I went to school with this gentleman. Played soccer in middle school days with him. Excelled at every sport. I mean super excelled. Super humble dude. Great person.
He and I played high school baseball together in Key West he was always just phenomenal to watch in practice or in a game on the field or at the plate he had big leagues written all over him. I had the pleasure of winning a high school state title with him and my teammates in 1998 before he went on to bigger and greater things. I Was very sad To see him hang it up a few years ago in his prime due to social anxiety that he dealt with for many years going back into when we played together. I never did see it. So he hid it very well. Something that must have been very difficult to deal with for so many years.
This dude was awesome... and I’d be willing to bet big money he can still park balls 10 rows deep into the stands. But when your mind , bod, and soul aren’t aligned at that level it’ll show. Still nothing but great things to say about him. If you have random hate for anybody you’ve never met that has never done a thing personally to you, you should take a good long hard look in the mirror. Cause you are a very sad person. Thanks Khalil for the great play, and I hope you are living your best life now. Baseball definitely is not everything. Not even close.
as far as Im concerned, the Padres have had 3 shortsops and ONLY 3 shortstops, worth talking about.... "Greenie" as we called him in SD, was very nearly as talented as El Nino, and he was basically a cult figure in SD, much like Tatis is now. His other nickname was "Spicoli" from Sean Penn's character in "Fast Time at Ridgemont High"... He didnt have 'Nando's' plate discipline and he wasn't a base stealer, at all. But dude, could hit and he could flat out, pick it. Only Padre I EVER saw who got a curtain call, for a defensive play. And of course, we all know about Ozzie Smith.

He was my favorite player of all time. I hope he’s doing well now. Sad to see he had a short run in the majors.

Since he left, the padres have yet to find a replacement for SS. Still looking almost ten years later lol
Ramon TATIS JR
El Niño!
@@MikeJones-dd5wj it took like 11 years to get another quality SS.
Olivares Silviano can’t believe the Sox got rid of Tatis for Shields!!!

+Eric Alba He had anger issues, he broke his own arm and didn't play after that. He had social anxiety disorder and did not perform well.
