I like your style, you explained everything very clearly☝ Thanx for the upload. Loving the diff mod option. Traxxas now sells the whole rear diff. I took your advice and changed all my plastic diff cups to the aluminum ones.
Great video. My UDR's rear planetary gear housing just melted, encased the bearings, and shattered the planetary ring when drifting on wet payment... definitely time for me to get hardened steel upgrades.
I recommend filling your axle tubes with marine grease. It doesn't completely eliminate the sand/dirt intrusion, but it helps ten fold. Most of the grease gets flung clear of the axle inside the tube but the dirt gets trapped by the grease before it gets to the bearings. Every once in a while you will have to get the old dirt filled grease out and repack.
I honestly believe the way to prevent sand or debris from entering through both axles is to have secondary bearings, one at both ends were the meet the hubs and the others towards just before the center (where the arms of the axle is the same diameter before it widens). The other issue is with the planetary gears. These run waaaay to hot. These should have been enclosed similar to a diff cup allowing it to be constantly lubed. The grease just flings out to the carier so these pretty much these just run without any grease.
Great video !!! I just ordered a udr and heard a lot of problems with the the back axle ! I also have the new bright f350 ! Would be awesome if you can show some more details from the chassis and how you build it !!!
Have you been running this mod for awhile? I'm doing a diff mod on my UDR and have found that the shims make it too tight too but I was wondering about the side to side movement of the output's on both sides of the diff cup if it would be a problem?
I jsut filled it with grease th whole damn thing axle are always sitting i nthe grease it works great so for lasted like 8 runs I need to check but seems to be really good
I bought a used UDR and the previous owner had done the open diff mod but I would like to return it to the stock configuration locked diff. From your mod shown, do you know what parts would be needed to return to stock?
Thanks for the Fantastic video looking forward to being a part of the UDR Revolution LOL I just picked mine up a few days and I am very impressed!! getting ready to do my pre run maintenance and pull it apart and regrease and I am definitely going to do this mod. Just waiting on parts LOL looking forward to your next video bro, keep up the good work!
Bro I have an question actually I have UDR Traxxas but after a some bashing with it it seems that the car looks low I check the suspension it’s ok but I didn’t know how can I make it as before look high as new please you can told me what is the problem?
@@stark6441 how? the udr flips over many times and has arm problems drive shaft trailing arms the it I'm more into bashing than to the realistic stuff. The mojave exb has body clips makes it more accessible for everything 70/15 metal chassis and I can choose what electrics 6s or 8s what servo and I get many upgrades with the exb

Nice I bought the aluminum diff and it runs way cooler
where? do you have a link for the part?
Why not make a slight silicone gasket for the planetary and axle housing
Surely there’s some aftermarket part that will seal up the axle ends?

Great video ! Is that the same diff cup for the Xmaxx? Looks very similar.

the only parts needed to go back to a stock setup would be the spool and bolt the ring gear back on it
How different does it handle with the open diff?? Flippage?
Nice nail on your thumb, you a guitarman?
How much would you charge me to build a goose neck trailer? Maybe 25 in wide and 48 in long and maybe 6 in off the ground?
Ha, Marbles is famous! Good vid James.

Should I get a udr?
