    Pops always plays and sings like he MEANS it, with everything he has....He must have sung this tune a thousand times before, but he's way into it... every time. Something to be learned by every musician in the world here... every person, really.

    I think the real root of his genius was that Pops LOVED doing what he did - Durante had a similar quality - and he has such a good time, it's nearly impossible for the audience not to love him FOR doing it and go along for the ride.
