Kante won the premie4 league with two different clubs in consecutive seasons, won the champions league and won the World Cup - and was one of the most vital players each time. Scores the wining goal in the CL final, confirming he is a big game player and way better offensively than Kante has ever been. In fact he’s scored so many massive goals - agaisnt villa on final day, Arsenal etc. moreover the ‘pep system’ ceases to function as soon as he leaves the pitch, we drop off massively.

There was a time that there was no one in world football who came close to playing as well as Kante in his roll. That might be true now of Rodri but I think it’s more arguable.

Especially now he’s getting forward and scoring massive goals, no one can compare to him, far and way the best 6. You’ve made sense elsewhere but it’s delusional to say Rodri wasn’t instrumental in those wins, you implied we could do it without him, sorry but it’s the height of delusion, because when ever we lose him we struggle massively. He’s the key.
He’s just an all round better footballer too. Kante is a specialist who is unbelievable at breaking up play and dominating the ball, stopping counters… but rodri does all of that very well, even if not quite as well, where as on the ball the two are incomparable. Kante isn’t useless going forward but let’s not pretend it’s remotely close. Rodri is a superior footballer, or at least the lads on the club should have entertained it as a possibility.

Shearer in his first 169 premier league games scored 137 goals. He had seasons of 34 goals 31 goals twice 25 goals 23 goals twice and 22 goals. Rooney never scored more than 27 goals and before anyone Rooney wasn’t a pure goal scorer than why are you comparing them. As for Kane who’s a no show in big games.
Shearer has more goals and assists than kane not including the first year he had in division one.

Shearer 283 goals (you don’t delete 23 goals because they renamed the league that’s silly) and most of his career in a team that was in the bottom half of the table 50% of the time.
I want to know his goal-per-shot ratio, with the lack of service it must have been insane. One of the most lethal players to ever play the game.
Rooney is the one player that as an Englishman when I look at other countries greats like Iniesta with Spain, Lahm with Germany, Ronaldinho with Brazil I'm just so proud to have Rooney, the best footballer to come out of Great britian other than arguably Bale,. During the World Cup, Spain played Iniesta on the wing to have Busquets, Xabi Alonso and Xavi in the team. So in their assumption, a manager could have fit Kante in the team.
Frenkie De Jong is much closer to Busquets than Rodri in terms of play style

De jong isn’t a defensive midfielder
He is nothing like Busquets. De Jong gets the ball from deep beats 2,3 players and passes it to a winger or attacker. De Jong has a similar playing style to Kovacic but obviously Frenkie is 10x better. Busquets was all about that close control and being press resistance he never really ran with the ball.

VVD shouldn`t have even gotten second though. VVD is a very good defender and he is a PL legend and if he manages to win either one more PL or CL title, i think he can have a serious debate about being in the top 5 PL center backs of all time, but he isn`t there jet.

Why mention Vidic winning 2 POTY awards when they weren't the PFA version? He won the one decided by sponsors and fans twice, the literal mickey mouse kind, never won the PFA version, which is picked by players. I know he probably should've won it the year Giggs did, but that would still only put him level with Van Dijk. Van Dijk though, finished 2nd in the Ballon D'or, just a few points off Messi. United's own fan forum voted Rio as their greatest ever PL CB.

Older players are always overrated in these. Van Dijk slander makes no sense. Vidic and Kompany made numerous eras just never highlighted to the level of VVD because VVD has become a victim of his own success.
Attackers in the league back then weren’t as good as well.
At their peak, Van Dijk easily had the best season. He narrowly missed out on the Ballon D'Or that season to Messi (and VVD deserved to win it).

The lads have very short memories, I'd immediately take Graeme Souness or Edgar Davids over Busquets. I'd probably argue Frank Rijkaard & Lothar Matthaus were also both better players.
A complete contradiction when buvey said Rodri and busquets can dominate a game and play for the best of the best but Kante can come in to a struggling side and change their team. Then decides to put kante ahead of Rodri I mean that’s just laughable really. Also kante was only good for 4-5 years.
It’s because Rodri has only had 2 standout seasons so far and is still currently playing whereas in a few years time when he’s mid to late 30s and if he’s still performing at the current level he’s showing then he’ll definitely go down as one of if not the best DM the premier league has seen

I just realised that Buvey doesn't actually back his players. If I was a City fan there'd be no way I'd be saying Kante is much better than Rodri. Rodri is a complete midfielder, Kante could not pass or score or have a first touch anywhere near the level of Rodri.

Tbf I do think even the brightest Liverpool fan will have to agree that although VVD had probably the best best single season as a CB. But in terms of overall quality of player over the years he just simply can’t be the best. I know he had that injury and was never the same after but I’m afraid you can’t say that VVD was the better CB after 1 incredible season. (And I know that he was class for about 3 years before his injury but that one season where he was at his peak was just so much higher than his others). I think now that we know he is not the same people are starting to judge him fairly with the other CB whereas before when he was playing so well it was easy to get carried away and call him the best ever potentially - which now we know was a bit unfair.
Mate he came back from the injury and took Liverpool within two games of a quadruple... This season he has been fantastic as well outside of a couple stupid moments in the first five minutes of games.
