    i taught myself how to sew so i could steal gallery's pattern and make a pair of flared 501s for myself. fuck their price tag, but i think thats why they were successful in their "recycle" ethos too, jesse's tailoring basically started up a trend again. Rappers that could afford it burnt it the fuck out really quickly but those that couldnt were inspired to make their own. and people that were suprised gallery uses levis and painted over the tags completely missed the point lmao

      The people that missed the point were never his target audience. He never intended for his brand to be so disgustingly main stream but it’s better to have that problem instead of being a brand barely able to make a living from.

    Well, Virgil started Pyrex with discontinued Polo flannels so there’s that.
    You never know what your domino will be so this isn’t a failure, it’s just a stepping stone and good on them commanding such an outrageous price point. Art is art at the end of the day.

    The problem with a brand like this is that they'd never be able to scale to anything beyond a very niche market. When you're relying on sourcing a certain era of a certain style of a certain brand of jeans then manually reworking each pair, it's literally impossible to scale to do volume and get your price point down. This is all fine when your brand is hot and consistent with what high fashion is wearing, but completely falls apart when trends change and you can't command the same price tag. Flared denim with males NEVER sticks around long term through the course of history.

    • @Skinner90210

      You make an excellent point! 😅why do flare denim always come back ha . I was a teen in the 2000s and I remember, especially for women , everything was flared early 00s and we didn’t actually want that , I was constantly tailoring my own jeans on the leg opening , all of my guy friends too , and brought my sewing machine to high school a few days and did it for 5 bucks ha

    • @EllsX76
      @EllsX76 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well clearly you were wrong… because the brand is doing amazingly well and can’t keep $965 sweats in-stock at all!

    • @jimteja
      @jimteja 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@EllsX76 I guess you didn't notice that my comment was from a year ago. The reason they're doing well now is because they pivoted their business model into mostly making machine made items in bulk at factories. If you look at their website, only a very small percentage of their items are still starting out as repurposed vintage garments and hand decorated. Back then, that's pretty much all they did and something like 80% of their business was from jeans that started out as vintage Levi's, had to be manually re-sewn to change the cuff cut, then were hand decorated. I was actually spot on with my prediction because they did announce they were shutting down, only to pop back up shortly after with this new business model. Without making that change, they wouldn't have made it.

    @warvtg4180 2 ปีที่แล้ว +35

    I mean it is crazy that all it was was just vintage repurposed items but at the same time the concept was fire. At least to me, I think it’s just kinda cringe to hate on new clothing brands actually putting their ideas out and becoming successful. HOT TAKE :The problem is that the same people that make it popular also kill it, let’s be honest when a brand makes it to the hood, People who don’t know themselves and want to feel like someone end up buying clothes like this and they overdue it/ make it look dirty. For people in the hood, we have seen people wear the same designer shirt a bunch of times and not carry themselves to the same standard of the clothes and it makes the clothes look dirty (Look at the guy who got killed trying to hurt the corner store owner in NYC with a fake Amiri Shirt. Plus those people don’t know how to put pieces together, They just buy it for the name to impress others & kids this year bought out all The Gallery department pieces so it got saturated like how my people killed Purple denim, Alexander McQueen, Vlone, Amiri and etc. This has to do with a lot of fashion brands only going for cash grabs and low hanging fruit that someone who just wants to feel like money when they have none goes to get their stuff. Raising the prices won’t help either, The pieces need to be limited and for the culture

    if you buying things for people to see you in general i think its a lot to question about you…not saying you shouldn’t want attention but you should solely buy something just because you fw it. Even ppl who still wanna buy gallery should, don’t stop just cause er body else is that’s what’s actually lame.
