    I love this guy! He really speaks the language of beginners, unlike those 1 million subscriber channels, that are honestly just marketing and product placement.

    This is a wonderful system you just taught in this video, premixing the main colors this has been one of the reasons I m slow to finishing what I start. Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏

    Sometimes I feel blocked or don’t think I’m progressing as fast as I think I should. Maybe you can do a video on these subjects. Your videos always get me motivated to pick up a brush and try to get some paint on a canvas. Thanks

    The tips about limited time to paint are helpful. Found myself being frustrated with matching colors where I left off. A busy household is disruptive to painting to say the least. (cats and grandchildren.)

      I know the feeling! My days are divided in 'short blocks' as well, with shuttling kids to school and that kind of stuff. In that regard oil paints are a bit more relaxed, as long as the cats don't start jumping on your palette😂😅👍

    I am from India. I am from a part of India that is generally hot except during monsoon. The acrylic paint dries up very fast (within about 3 to 4 minutes). So am I am wondering how to premix each color for my painting without the paint getting dried !

    • @toon-nagtegaal
      @toon-nagtegaal  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that's hard, maybe using a mist sprayer could help? On very hot days I use a mist prayer, I spray it lightly over the palette and on the canvas every few minutes. Or maybe you could look into slow-drying medium / retarder.

      You should try the wet palette, it makes my paint still wet for days, and you can make it your own. Be careful with the damp paper towel/ sponge; if you let it too wet, the paint might become watery.
      But there is an inconvenient about a wet palette is that you can't mix paints with the painting knife, cuz it's gonna tear the paper out=((

    Do you ever use a stay wet pallete?

    • @toon-nagtegaal
      @toon-nagtegaal  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've tried it for a while and it works great, but for me personally it had some downsides. I prefer a sturdy hard surface for mixing and I like to have it grey.
      I paint a lot of hours a day, so I've gotten a feel for how much paint I need in advance for certain parts. Also I tend to be a bit nitpicky about my paint's consistency. I prefer it to be just like it comes out of the tube, and I don't really like it when the paint gets a bit wetter and smoother with a stay-wet palette.
      But that's all just me! I think these palettes are especially a great solution for people who can’t paint for long periods at a time. I know a lot of people that really like using them! 👍👍

      Thanks! I did try it a while ago for my Dutch channel. It works great, and for a lot of people it can be very useful. There were a few downsides, but these are very personal knitpicking things, most people wouldn't be bothered about these:
      If you use a lot of paint, the palette is not convenient. Even the largest palette size is too small in that case. Of course, you can also craft something similar yourself.
      You're mixing on a sheet of palette paper that's resting on a sponge, and with color mixing I personally prefer a sturdy surface. Moreover, I prefer working on a gray surface instead of white.
      Also, the consistency of the paint changes. Even though it's only a slight difference, I don't like that. I prefer painting with the paint straight from the tube, but that's of course a very personal thing, other people aren't bothered by it at all.
      Last thing: I find it a bit fiddly to use, opening and closing, wetting sponge in right manner, etc etc and I just saw your comment on the paper towel 'problems'😅 well, these palettes add even more struggling to the painting process.
      But again: these are just my thoughts, I've had many comments of people who really enjoy these palettes!
