I would take the vacuum apart and wash it and if that doesn't get rid of it I would just replace the vacuum. Cat pee is probably the worst smell out there.
Yes wash the filters and everything with vinegar diluted would help

I have an anxious cat and one thing that helps with the wee issue is a covered litter box as it’s enclosed and feels safe. My cat is very attached to us and change is never good, my partner going back to work after a week off can cause issues, I would say getting her into a non routine may help as you and Abbie are also travelling and changing her idea of what should be happening, this sounds weird as cats thrive on routines but when you as their human know your life isn’t the normal same person feeding her every day at a set time it’s better to try and break those expectations so she doesn’t worry if say all of a sudden it’s Miss Joy feeding her. I would ask your vet if a confident sibling may help her fixate less on human changes. It’s important to say weeing out of the box when neutered seems to be them telling us that they are displeased with us and based on her last issue it was after a long absence of you and Abby. I hope you can find a way to give her the reassurance she needs that she’s not being deserted again which may be the root cause of this. Love your vlogs xxx
Stevie needs a window to look out of. She told me (not literally) but with her sad eyes that she doesnt have a window in your bedroom. And she wants to see the outside like in her guest room setup. Hope this helps!
Cats LOVE to look outside. Or get her an aquarium to watch. We call it “cat tv”
Doesnt she have a window? With a high cat tree? Cats love to be high up in a cat tree and watch out. yes cat tv on youtube is good for smaller kittens, they dont get the tv down haha. i cant let my cats watch that more than on a ipad on the ground. i hope rachels cat will feel better soon. if they cant help here i bet they will found a new home

Suggestions for Stevie: Feliway (diffuser or spray), and/or zylkene (a behavior support supplement, but it can take 6-8 weeks to show full effects). Hill's C/D stress (specifically the stress formula) may be a good option to try, but is a prescription that would need to be discussed with your vet. Sounds like you're doing as good as anyone can to try to make her more comfortable ❤
They also make calming y treats that you just give them 1 a day. I have a long haired tuxedo cat, he’s truly beautiful but I had another cat in 2020 who was 11 that I had to put to sleep because of diabetes. Nothing was making him better. Gus missed him so much that he would sit by the front door and pull his fur out. One side was almost bald. I got the Feliway calming diffusers and calming treats from Chewy and it helped him pretty quick. Probably because he was getting the treats too.

Also charcoal absorbs scents so you can add an open bag or some bowls in the room 💡
Replacing the vacuum filter is a good one don't forget the HEPA filter as well.
Cleaning it with vinegar also helps but be careful that you water it down as it can damage the plastic.
Have you thought about getting the cat a Catio? My husband actually made our cats one that went from one window all down the length of that side of the house to the furthest window so they could get fresh air without actually being outside. I just know how much our cats lived it so wondered if that might help your cat. She can get out there and not worry about the dogs.
There are some filters that you can wash that should help a LOT with the stink. There's probably 2 or more on your vacuum. Also, some soap and water in the canister and wash the brush bar.
Arm and harmer has a carpet cleaner that u can use to get the smell out. It’s powder and used as baking soda
Next time you do the baking soda thing, pour out all your baking soda into a jar, add a couple of drops of whatever essential oil you like, and give it a good mix/shake. Then use the baking soda the same way. Your carpets will smell even better. :)
Had a cat and 2 dogs for almost 18yrs, own my cleaning business I learned carpet and pets don't mix, there will always be a smell. Not to mention carpets hold everything no matter how much you vacuum. Baking soda is a good start but it's not always affective.
Have you tried one of those plug-in diffusers that have cat pheromones or just to help keep them calm and make them feel safe in certain specific rooms or areas? There are also just spray forms of them so you can spray certain mats or blankets to make them feel super comforting. Also cat pee is notoriously hard to clean out of surfaces you may need to buy some more industrial cat pee cleaning solutions and really let them sit and scrub out of certain areas. Or just straight up throw a few things away.
She may also not like her kitty litter and that's why she's not going in the litter box.
There is an animal version of the baking soda it is scented and meant to be put on carpet etc and it smells AMAZING and made my vacuum smell amazing as well. I found it in the pet section, tall skinny bright orange box, arm and hammer.

For your rugs, I know this sounds crazy but put them outside for a bit. I went through peeing cat issues, so frustrating! After cleaning with nature's miracle I put them in the sun for a few days. Ozone and UV rays can kill the cat pee smell. Of course - you can only do that with ones you bring out. I have heard that bringing an ozone machine in can help for permanent carpeting

my parents like to use the baking soda trick every once and a while and they mix just a tiny bit of essential oils of there choosing in with the baking soda to just give the fabric a bit more of a scent
i had to do the baking soda thing before as i have 4 cats but what i did extra was i put a little washing powder down with it to make it smell nicer.
Just use X-O odor neutralizer.
I used it years ago with an unneutered male cat that would spray almost every day and it worked perfectly. It's the same thing used by vets, shelters, kennels, stables, hospitals, airplanes, etc..
Iams urinary tract food solved my cats issues that are exactly like what is happening with Stevie. She's not had any issues since after about the first two weeks on that food. It changes the PH of their urine to help calm down the inflammation. I highly recommend giving it a try!
Take apart the vacuum cleaner as much as you can, and soak all the pieces that you can in the sink full of sudsy water and then rinse thoroughly. I love each piece air out in the sun if you can and don’t put the vacuum cleaner back together again until it’s all totally dry look for any sponge type pieces in the vacuum cleaner and soak those and soapy water as well.
Arm 'n' hammer has a pet carpet powder in a box you can put on your carpet... i find that works
hmmm you might need to change the filter in the vacuum? Or wash the filter somehow that might help the smell because if its in the filter I'm not convinced that baking soda will help but I'm noooo expert
Hey! Love you! Clean the filter in your vacuum and clean the spin brush. Also get some carpet fresh it will help everything smell better!!!
Hi Rachel! so for your vacuum make sure you can wash those filters. Google the vacuum and filter types should give you the answer or the manual do a check. Check for an additional filter, canisters vacuums have 2 filters usually. One in the canister and one on the side (depends on brand). Wash both filters with baking soda and dish soap. I would let those filters dry for a few days, this way you know it's bone dry. And then at my work we actually put a few drops of scented oils on the filters, or put a table spoon of downy unstoppable pellets in the canister. Never had a problem with those scent pellets in the canister, they just waft the scent through the whole unit. I should state not a professional vacuum person, this is just how we handle gross vacuums at my work. I work at a hotel.
That's about right! I suggest washing the brush bar, too.
For your rug in the living room you should rent a carpet cleaner so you can give it a good clean and get all the smells out.. You might have to take your vacuum apart and clean the filters and the little parts 💛
I used to use Arm & Hammer's carpet odor eliminator powder for my carpet (I haven't had carpet in years so I don't need it anymore). I used it regularly when I vacuumed. However, if you spread cat urine, I think it makes sense to wash the carpet (try a carpet shampoo for pet odors). If you want to go all out, also buy a spray to spot clean cat urine and mist it generously over the carpet as a pretreatment before washing/cleaning the carpet. One clean and dry, and if needed, finish with a baking soda based carpet powder and vacuum. Good luck!

You should get the Armen Hammer carpet deodorizer They also make a litter box deodorizer. Which will help with the cat pee smell. And the litter box deodorizer might help her want to use the litter box.

I have doubts that the baking soda is going to get you the results you are looking for long term-it just isn’t strong enough. I’ll tell you what’s in my tool box(I currently have seven cats)- it’s called My Pet Peed. Hands down the BEST cleaner/odor neutralizer I have ever used.
There’s spray at the pet store for cat pee. Has some kind of special enzyme in it.
I have the same vacuum and it had a filter in the top. I would try changing that out or putting the baking soda on there. You could also get a new one. They have some with febreze scents

stretches with Blaze was just everything and then some what a stretch buddy when it comes to the kitty here is my 5c of non knowledge try to make build a wall walk way for her or places so she can climb high up and look down on that could relive some stress for her to it can make her feel safe
You can use charcoal for cat piss. Break it up put it in a bowl and place it in different places in your house. Like behind your couch.chair,bed est.
After this happened to me I changed the filters on the vacuum and it helped a lot
50/50 white vingar and water. I know some people then follow up with baking soda after it dries. I have never done that as my vacuum cleaners warranty says not to. Plus the vingar works on its own for me

Yuck, get some vinegar, spray it everywhere and blot it with paper towel. That should do it. Get a new vacuum cleaner if it doesn't clear but the vinegar should do it.
If you can’t get the smell in the other room to go away, and it still smells like dog, if you decide to try a chemical solution try Odoban. That is what MANY shelters use to control pet odors/clean pet messes.

Oh my gosh, I empathize so much with the animal smell. I grew up with animals, and I love my animals, but I am constantly conscious of whether or not my home smells like pets.
Use vinegar and water. Equal parts. This will disinfect and neutralize odors.

walmart carrys kids and pets spray, it is safe for kids and pets, it work amazing. ITry that and see if it helps.

They actually have this stuff I have 2 little weiners - Dachshunds and they don't have that much fur it's just because they're so down low to the ground. I'm pretty sure the brands called Oxl clean pet fresh, by Arm & hammer I'm not sure if you guys have it in the state it's a yellow box and it's powder and you put it all on your carpet and you let it sit there for like an hour or 2 and then And go vaccum it up that should works and smells nice, have you tried tricking her and putting the The Kitty litter box in the corners of the places she likes to pee?
There's baking soda that's specifically for cleaning that's stronger than the stuff you bake with. That might help? 😊
Baking soda is baking soda. It is a chemical NaHCO3. The cooking and cleaning stuff are the same.
I know you got Stevie from a friend's bf whom was just dumping her was he dumping her because her pee issues? Or is this new since being in your family?
The pee issue only popped up in the last 2 weeks and they’ve had Stevie for a while now. Between miso being brought into the mix and Abbie’s emergency appendectomy and resulting multi day hospitalization for complications, the stress from those events alone could have triggered it
They don’t know much about were Stevie was before them so I don’t think they oniwn
I’ve watched every vlog but somehow still don’t know what the story is with miso whose dog is it where did she come from?
The little dogs might be also stressing her. They might not be doing anything but their presence by night stressing her

Many people have asked on many videos but the only thing was that Rachel mentioned it was Brother Bears dog before going East to Abby... Not sure that's true since Miso is still there haha so I think she's ignoring the questions on purpose until they're certain where the dog is staying?
