Seriously, you may not have many views now, but these history videos are excellent! Keep it up. These are the best videos on the Italian Wars on youtube.
Thank you for these videos. I just found them. I have read and love to read all about the Italian Wars. Heck I am 32 percent Italian and 33 percent Spanish so its a part of my history too.
Fantastic video. It's so hard to find easily digestible info on the Italian Wars and the H.R.E. Thank you

I come from watching the Kings and Generals series about this war that I knew about before (because it is very important for the history of all Hispanics, like me), but that unfortunately is taken very little into account in the historical dissemination channels on TH-cam ; However, I just noticed that 5 years before you had already dared to do it and I see that you do it in a very correct way, starting with a prelude that gives greater context to the conflict. I will give my final opinion in your last video about this series, but I feel ashamed for not having seen this channel before and I hope more people see it, because it is an excellent start to the topic... greetings.
“The Swiss declare war and execute Charles’s local governor.” *Perfectly cut scream* Genius. And of course great work looking at a lesser known chapter of European history. It’s still pretty crazy how Italy was the way it was before it became the nation we know today.
Just started this series. Man, it's really weird to think about how many events happened in Europe that are in a backdrop to the Italian Wars. I've always had a rough idea when many of these happened, but other than the Reconquista and discovery of the Americas, I never linked them in my mind as being so close to the others. Good work.
This entire set of nine videos is excellent! Informative and detailed. I feel as though I have taken a college level mini-history class on the geopolitics and battles of this era. Thank you.
Wow I'm impressed by the quality of the video. You have a great way of presenting history. The only negative thing I will say is...it's too short. You have obviously got the knowledge and are probably keeping it short due to the entertainment side. Avaid history learners will watch these videos all day so don't worry about telling us more! Great stuff. What a gem.
tnx, just finished all of the serie; what a blast! never knew this time period It's just a hot pile of burning shit, everywhere! and poor Italy was in the crossfire all of the time ps: sometimes the sound effect are too loud and I can't understand what you say, plz balance it next time
Great video. The animations, illustrations and script are superb. Though maybe you could work on your annunciation a bit. Even a louder voice I think would make it easier to focus on your words. Also I’m not a big fan of of the music in this one. It is a bit too relaxing and makes it difficult for me to concentrate. But overall great video and channel. The early modern period has always been my favourite historical time period. Keep up the great work.
Very clear and comprehensive video. Charles the bold and this ambitious unrealistic policy of Burgundy to create that super patchwork of domains from north sea to Mediterranean between France and Holy Roman empire reminds of the crown of Argagon. Can you do a similar multi pay video on that. I know that for a time they sought possessions even in Byzantine empire and they were Dukes of Athens lol.
Below is an expanding and (roughly) chronological list of links to European history videos (generally these feature lecturers who summarize material well and deliver it in an engaging way, such as Tom Richey and Paul Sargent, or great animators featuring maps that illustrate the passage of events geographically). The units correspond to those of AP EURO (see link all the way at the end). A few videos on a 'Crown and Church estates' series from Marty Rady (of University College London) are sprinkled in, which feature the importance of Central Europe, an area that is generally not covered sufficiently in most introductory courses. While most of these materials are appropriate for AP Euro students, undergraduates, particularly those who want a refresher before taking more advanced courses, and life-long learners may also benefit from them. These materials compare quite favorably with 'massive open online courses' (MOOCs), and often are better, IMHO. Combined with a reading of some primary sources (many now easily available online in translation) and viewings of art from the eras covered (many great works can be viewed in high-resolution online), one can acquire a fairly good understanding of the last 500 years or so of European history in a relatively short period. The real reason of the Italian wars : there were so many mercenaries left without been paid after the hundred years war... so the rich italian countryside were the perfect spot..
1:13 Constantinople remained the official name of the ottoman capital. The name was only changed into „Istanbul“ in 1922 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of the Turkish Republic under Mustafa Kemal.
The Turks did not change the name Constantinople to Istanbul. The name came into use gradually, but the Turks officially called it Qustantiniya to the end of their empire.
To heighten the enjoyment of this period of history, after watching Pike&ShotBattles videos, I commend to you the enjoyable 6-part mini-series "Maximilian and Marie of Burgundy" available on Amazon Prime. While not free, it's still very a great deal at c.$12 for the whole series -- money well spent.
For the HRE - It's a bloody mess! Would have done really... 🤔 😉 😅 Great history well done. Hope you don't mind a bit of criticism I know this was your 1st video but I've just watched your new one today as well. You cover the history really well but you need to work on the sound mixing. Lose the music a bit and I like the new narrator especially as he's done so few videos and will improve. Your biggest issue is the way you cover battles, to fast, not enough detail about the units on the field you cover them before but it's not totally clear on the field. Watch some of the bigger battle channels to get a idea but keep your more invasive details about the forces before the battle then make clear where they are and slow down the various actions a bit. You deserve far far more views and I hope you get them.
Good video, but the namechange of Constantinople to Istanbul only happened after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the creation of the turkish republic under Kemal Atatürk to distance the city from it's Ottoman history (kinda sad to be honest).
Madrid was not relevant in Spain at all until 1546, nothing to do with Isabel and Fernando; it was their grand son Felipe II who moved the royal court to Madrid.
I'm curious as to why you don't mention Portugal's position as the dominant empire in the world right now? The have the largest navy at the time and they also are the richest due to the spice trade, and their control of Western Africa.
so....in the year 1500 the mongols were still holding vast swathes of europe. do an episode on the mongol horde in the pike and shot era. what does that look like? :)
There has never been a Catalan crown, which is why the kingdom of Aragon always appears in all history channels, which is the one that owned the Catalan counties.
Spain was not “ centralized” that is a myth.the first proper king of spain was an italian the savoia in 1810 -+, Back in 1469, Catalan Crown had the kingdoms of granada, cordoba, principality of Catalonia, sicily, naples, kingdom of leon, county of castile( madrid was made up as capital with phillip 1( 2 for spaniards) in 1550-+ This is why in america you had viceroys because was the administrative way of the Catalan Darragona( Darragonensis,Twrraconensis,Tarraco) Castilians had no councils nor capital , their rules were perfect suitable for kings to rule without parliaments or more fair ruling ways to govern, hence “ centralisation” absolutism to maintain the people as serfs.this is why is impossible than a farmer like leonardo da vinci became an elite ruler,it was forbidden by death penalty.
There has never been a Catalan crown, which is why the kingdom of Aragon always appears in all history channels, which is the one that owned the Catalan counties.
Maybe you are saying very interesting things, but you should let someone else record the voice over. Man, so many words are run together like you are have glue in your mouth. I had to make up 30% solid of the text by guessing. What a waste.
Seriously, you may not have many views now, but these history videos are excellent! Keep it up. These are the best videos on the Italian Wars on youtube.

A bird's-eye view of modern Europe at the beginning. A masterpiece!

This video is obviously amazing, but it will take time until you blow up and start getting more views. That’s just how TH-cam works.
You explain the background events really well! This period of history is so interesting!
Amazing work ❤️ finally a perfect work on my country's history!

Genius. And of course great work looking at a lesser known chapter of European history. It’s still pretty crazy how Italy was the way it was before it became the nation we know today.
Looks like Kings and Generals has competition.
Very good documentary hope you continue on other historical events and wars.

I still come back to this after years
Just discovered this channel. Your work is awesome, I hope that you continue to grow :)
You need more subs for sure, good video. Maybe lower the background music by maybe 2-4 db as I felt it distracted from your voice.

Small detail, they never officially changed the name constantinople to Istanbul, Istanbul means "the city" slang that was kept otherwise fantastic
What an amazing series about the Italian wars!
Please make videos about the 16th century wars of religion
What a nice statement before the outro.
Why the hell was this channel not shown to me earlier? Was looking for random shitposts and found gold instead.

Thx!

p.s. I like that you put a timeline of major events at the bottom. Nice touch.
Gracias por este video amigo!
Amazing
Yay, another history channel for me to subscribe to!
your videos are so good! it's outrageous they dont have more views.. good work
Fantastic video. Only small critique the music could be a bit lower in volume compared to the speech.
Just found this channel. Great video man, subscribed!
This is awesome, I'll keep watching the series. You got me hooked!
Wohoo this is amazing mate!
I can't wait for the upcoming actions!

Keep up the work and you will succeed im sure of it , you got my sub ! awsome work
Frederick III wasn't the first. Rudolf was. Being King of the Roman is essentially same as emperor just not coronated by Pope.
The advertisements for other videos at the end blocks the "Great People" slide. Who introduced the one-point perspective? No idea.
The real reason of the Italian wars : there were so many mercenaries left without been paid after the hundred years war... so the rich italian countryside were the perfect spot..
The wars started 40 years after the end of the Hundred Years War.
1:13 Constantinople remained the official name of the ottoman capital. The name was only changed into „Istanbul“ in 1922 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of the Turkish Republic under Mustafa Kemal.
"Bella gerant alii, tu felix Austria nube."
(Let others make war, you happy Austria, marry.)
Don't worry, your views will pick up.
People know good content when they see it.
Cheers!
The Turks did not change the name Constantinople to Istanbul. The name came into use gradually, but the Turks officially called it Qustantiniya to the end of their empire.
Great stuff! Very interesting! Sub'd!
Constantinople was not renamed until after the Turkish revolution in 1930
For the HRE - It's a bloody mess! Would have done really... 🤔 😉 😅
Great history well done.
Constantinople was named Istanbul in the 20 th century. Before it was Konstantiniye.(Arabic for Constantinople).
Madrid was not relevant in Spain at all until 1546, nothing to do with Isabel and Fernando; it was their grand son Felipe II who moved the royal court to Madrid.
Great video but seriously either remove or reduce the volume of the sound effects especially the battle sound
What is the name of the music?
I'm curious as to why you don't mention Portugal's position as the dominant empire in the world right now? The have the largest navy at the time and they also are the richest due to the spice trade, and their control of Western Africa.
so....in the year 1500 the mongols were still holding vast swathes of europe. do an episode on the mongol horde in the pike and shot era. what does that look like? :)
You forgot the venetians, my friend... read Machiavelli
Why the french was defeated in battle of Guinegate if the french have a standing army(compagnie d'orddonace)?
Could you please post some biography pleaseee! To help a student in need :p
Where is the Catalan Crown ? We had under our domain half spain, half italy, southern france, we had more land than the french until 1659.
There has never been a Catalan crown, which is why the kingdom of Aragon always appears in all history channels, which is the one that owned the Catalan counties.
Hem ... Constantinople was renamed Istanbul in 1926, not 1453 ! It is even not the Ottoman doing !
Now rids Spain of enemies within - Portugal waiting..
the swiss declare war
Jól hallom a magyar akcentust?
Igen :)
Spain was not “ centralized” that is a myth.the first proper king of spain was an italian the savoia in 1810 -+,
Back in 1469, Catalan Crown had the kingdoms of granada, cordoba, principality of Catalonia, sicily, naples, kingdom of leon, county of castile( madrid was made up as capital with phillip 1( 2 for spaniards) in 1550-+
This is why in america you had viceroys because was the administrative way of the Catalan Darragona( Darragonensis,Twrraconensis,Tarraco)
Castilians had no councils nor capital , their rules were perfect suitable for kings to rule without parliaments or more fair ruling ways to govern, hence “ centralisation” absolutism to maintain the people as serfs.this is why is impossible than a farmer like leonardo da vinci became an elite ruler,it was forbidden by death penalty.
There has never been a Catalan crown, which is why the kingdom of Aragon always appears in all history channels, which is the one that owned the Catalan counties.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Let us all thank Hungary for keeping the hajji hordes out of Europe... before the EU let them in for free 500 years later...
More inbred = more powerful. Interesting.
Maybe you are saying very interesting things, but you should let someone else record the voice over. Man, so many words are run together like you are have glue in your mouth. I had to make up 30% solid of the text by guessing. What a waste.
the HRE was never holy, never Roman and never an empire.
Great work!
