Old guy, new to boating, fishing, and the electronics. Really appreciate you showing how to find and mark. I haven’t seen anyone else actually do this yet. Keep up the good work!
You consistently put out the BEST Instructional Fishing Videos EVER! And I watch a lot f them. I appreciate the clean language & family friendly, country charm. I hope you get good sponsors & monetize your channel soon. Great job!
This in my opinion is the best video I’ve seen On your channel!!! The information you give is extra valuable to apply on any body of water. I love watching y’all have fun and catch but this helps us all to “ get the catch rate up” Thank you much God bless you and your family
Greatly appreciated! Glad you found it useful. I want to mix it up and have a bunch of everything from educational to entertainment! Tight lines and God bless!!!
Great explanation! I just bought a side scan and have watched dozens of videos. By far your videos have been more informative and in very easy to understand language than any other. It seems like most videos are all about showing me how smart the poster is. Your videos are about helping me catch fish. Thank you sir.
I believe this is the best explanation of how to find, and mark, a brush pile with fish...that I have seen anywhere on You Tube! Great job and thanks for sharing!
Ken, this is one of the best videos you have made. A really important, basic topic that so many websites skip right over. Really good, practical info. Good explanations. Good camera work. I really like SK's videos, but I think you have him beat on this topic. Thanks!!
Thanks for a super video. It's always easier to learn when you show live examples of what your seeing on your sonar. Thanks again and please Keep em coming.
Hello gentlemen. My uncle sent me the link to your video. I really appreciate you taking the time to discuss your method of using your fish/depth finder to brush/structure fish. I truly enjoyed it and found it very informative. Please keep sharing and happy fishing.
That’s another great tip about throwing the marker directly behind the boat. I’ve fished my entire life but never really understood my depth finder until your videos!! Thank you very much :) !
Yes indeed, Maine is a fishing paradise when you consider the ability to fish in not only saltwater and fresh water, but also hard water (aka ice fishing). And that Bevin’s skiff , while humble, is a sweet little thing capable of getting me out on to many a lake for not only the pleasure of rowing a wooden boat with sweet lines, but also for the pleasure of fishing. I think the wife is on board with this. I’ll think of you guys when I start hauling crappie over the side.
I've been trying to figure out my sonar and crappie fishing for a while now with not much luck. Brother, your video has put all the pieces together for me now. I feel confident I can go out and git us some fillets now! Thank you all for taking time out of your day to show us new crappie fisherman how to put em in the boat! BE SAFE
Confidence is key! Then location, and locations are found by understanding your electronics! Thanks for watching man, go get em and let me know how you do...
Pops don’t mess around, you can side image, down image and buoy mark all day, but Hook City does the HeeeeHaaaw and draws first blood. Nice job Fishing Ken!
This video helped me out a ton man. I really appreciate the info. Me and my brother started crappie fishing this year and we was having trouble when they were deep on brush and trees. This video helped us start catching those fish.
This was a very informational video. Between Hook City TV and Flopping Crappies I've learned quite a bit about using my sonar, DV and side imaging. Keep up the great work.
I really like those matching shirts you and your dad are wearing....I know I learned a WHOLE HECKA OF A LOT!!! Please continue to bring these type of videos.
Good to hear from you Mr. Ronnie. Hope all is well. The shirts werent planned but i did buy dad one when i saw them on sale! lol... There will be more how to videos coming soon. I have a few things planned...
I know you know this but videos like this transition you from being someone to watch fishing who is entertaining to someone who is an entertaining teacher. That is ten times as valuable. All the best and I am glad I found you. Come down to Lake Conroe sometime. There are millions of BBCs down here.
Thanks man. Im very much still in the learning stages of this youtube thing and can say I have figured that part out. Its not always easy to do but it really makes for good videos. Id love to fish the waters down your way. Ive seen pics and videos of the donkey show down there! Thanks again!
I'm just getting back into fishing more. I currently have some very old electronics, just sonar, on my boat which I plan on replacing soon. This was one of the better videos I have seen of actually using sonar, SI, & DI and how to identify brushpiles and more importantly seeing fish around that structure. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Glad you enjoyed this video. The older sonar units are still very capable. Especially when you know where to find structure or have put some out yourself. These newer units are more geared towards finding structure. They are powerful units that have cut down the search time for many anglers. There is a reason they still have a sonar option on all these side and down imaging units!! Tight lines
Thank you very kindly for a great video, sir. I've been a bank fisherman all my life, but my dad and I just got a boat and we're completely new to using electronics and sonar. This really helped me better understand with I'm looking at.
Congrats on the boat man! I remember our first rig. A 10 ft bass buster, lol... If you ever have a question or need more clarity on what ive said let me know.
Great video! That first tree looked like the Big Bad Wolf with a little wolf sitting in front. That second tree was striking the Creature from the Black Lagoon pose.🤣
Great video. You answered a lot of my questions from boat orientation to marking the piles. I have a better understanding on how to come up on a pile. By far the best video I've come across. Thank you for sharing. I just became a sub. Time to get a boat and Hummingbird now. It's on and popping from here on out.
WELCOME TO THE CITY!!!!! Im glad you were able to find the video and gave it a chance. If you ever have a specific question regarding something ive said or did let me know man. Good luck out there!
Great Job again.... This is a great video and the time your taking out to show how it's done step by step was great. Thanks again looking forward to watching you and hook city go to work again on putting crappie in the boat . God Bless.
God bless! I love fishing and to be able to use this platform to share that love is a cool deal. ME and dad will be out there again real soon. maybe next time he will let me press record first
Just got a ‘new to me’ 899 Bird. I like how your teach how to spot the piles on SI/DI and drop a marker buoy and fish it. Very informative for me. Thanks for the info and that knowledge.
Great information. I’m new to fishing from a boat. I have a hard time trying to see what’s under me but this helped a lot. Going to try this next weekend.
One of the best videos I’ve seen using the down and side imaging and bouybolacement. Getting a boat later in the year and I want to know how to use this stuff so I can get to catching slabs! Thanks, for sharing your knowledge.
Just found this video and have watched it over and over and over! I agree with everybody that it’s the best helix video I’ve seen! Just got a boat in October and trying to get the graphs figured out. Great job on showing your graphs. New subscriber and am looking forward for more info on this!! Tight lines and God bless you and yours!
WELCOME TO THE CITY!!!! and God bless you and yours as well. Im glad you have found some use in this video. Stay tuned, ill try and post more informative content soon!
This is a great video; exactly the kind I like to see. Thanks for bringing this level of useful knowledge to all of us that love to chase the Papermouths.
I have watched many videos about this same subject, but this is by far the best I've seen. I have a Lowrance HDS, but my pictures are not near as clear as your Hummingbird. Keep those videos coming.
Thanks man.. means a lot! Ive used lowrance and they have a great down scan pic. Once i saw the mega i knew i was going back to humminbird though. Thanks for watching! more coming soon

Thanks for watching! And I appreciate the comment, Some people dont understand the convenience of having side imaging. And of those that do, half of them dont understand how to use it.
Thank you. Funny how the ones not driving the boat always catch the fish. Love your videos. Still can't the overhand knot tied right but I will figure it out someday.
Ken how do you normally pick an area to fish? Im usually riding with my cousin who rarely reads his fish finder and id love to get a better understanding of how anglers pick an area to fish before they start using electronics

Really enjoyed that. I like the clear shots. It left no doubt of what I should be looking for on my electronics. Tight lines brother!
