I think if you would walk up on most people tailgating and tell them you're from Britain and ask them just what is going on, you'll be welcomed by everyone around and offered way more food and drink than you can possibly handle. Most folks at a tailgate are ready to party.
I have met so many nice people at tailgates or other events. I always bring extra food (almost everybody does). This way, I can share with people who are near me. The last time I tailgated, I met a lovely group of people from Brazil. I don't speak Portuguese and most of them didn't speak English. So, we all communicated in rudimentary Spanish and used translators on our phones. They were visiting family, and they had all sorts of South American food. I had bratwurst, potato salad, brownies, and the like. Another group had brought Tex Mex. We all got together, shared food and drinks, and had fun. I was actually there to see my alma mater, who was the away team. They didn't hold that against me 😊. So, just be friendly, bring some drinks if you can't do food, and you will be invited to join in. Most Americans love to show off our country, our state, and our culture to visitors. Don't badmouth us, and you will be treated well. It is part of our culture to be outgoing and friendly. Despite what some non-Americans think, we are honestly just this way. It is not fake.
Having fans sit on one side because they are fans of one team or another is wild to me. My dad and I went to a ton of baseball and hockey games and had great experiences talking with fans of the opposing teams. You'll often see that in something like high school football, but not professional sports. On the anthem front, it's not only the American anthem. If one of the teams playing is from Canada, both anthems will play.
Yep the Baseball stadium experience is usually better but Hockey fans can get testy in certain regions it also has it's fair share of history of fan fights.
I remember watching a game on TV where an American team was playing a Canadian team in Canada. Something went wrong with the PA system shortly after the US anthem started. Those lovely Canadians all started singing the Star Spangled Banner. It brought tears to my eyes. I have always been respectful when "O Canada" is played, but I don't know if I could get all the words right. But I would try.
Millie off subject here and I realize you have watched house building videos, but please have a look at this one. One -year timelapse of our custom home. They break down all costs of each phase and give a total at the end. It shows and explains everything so well.
College football games have blocks of tickets allotted to both the home and away team to sell from their ticket offices. Fans from 1 team are usually seated together, more or less. They don’t check your fandom so you can still sometimes buy tickets from the other school’s ticket office.
If you want to see huge crowds you need to check a mega church. Imagine a football stadium full of people praying, singing hymns and preachers preaching. The student Bible study. The Christmas marketer. You’ve never seen anything like it.
It seems slightly fuzzy. James' accent is pretty thick, so not having crisp audio makes me miss the occasional word. And I agree, it used to be better.
I know the Office Blokes went to a game at Beaver Stadium at Penn State University a month or two ago, and took in the tailgating atmosphere there. If you haven’t already, check out their video.
Sports ads are rampant because of the $$$. I am a baseball fan and if your team is the visiting team, you will try to sit by your teams dugout. Fly-bys are usually for big games like World Series, superbowl, large Bowl games (college football).
Televised soccer (football) games have no ads until the half and then until full time. At the games all fans sit together with the exception of the supporter clubs who buy tickets together. While there may be some rowdiness between opposing fans, most people just expect it and respect each other’s right to cheer for their team.
Out of 1000s and thousands of high schools around the country, these college football players hockey players are the best in the country. They play at a very high level at these big schools
The ads in American football are getting borderline ridiculous. They are toeing the line of what is acceptable. And the crazy part is that a lot of the time, everyone in the stadium is sitting around waiting like a timeout had been called for them to get back from commercial break.
Be careful what you wish for. I just tailgated Penn State vs SMU at Beaver Stadium in State College, PA. It was 20F/-6C and windy most of the day. Our Buffalo Chicken dip froze and the food heaters weren’t hot enough to actually warm food.
I was speaking with a Brit friend of mine a few years ago and he was telling me about how away fans exit the stadium first and then the home fans (might be vice versa, I don't remember) and I was laughing so hard. The purpose the playing the national anthem is to remind us all that we're all Americans and this is just a game.
If I understood you correctly, you talked about players being in front of a thousand or a few thousand spectators - guys, college football stadiums in some cases can seat over 100,000 fans, others 70, 80, 90,000, and they do fill those seats.
I'm shocked that American football hasn't gotten any following in Britain. I've watched a few NFL games that we've done there and college game day (college football) was in Ireland this year. It was awesome. It's just a culture that needs to be cultivated there because I think y'all would love it!
We always sit with the opposing teams fans, its fun. we talk about each others team. You gotta understand our sports is very family friendly, entertaining and fun..win or lose it doesn't really matter. I don't like the European version where its mainly men that are drunk, in fights wanting to hurt the opposing teams fans...no ..i prefer the American way
Tailgating started as a way to avoid heavy traffic before a game. Rather than eat home, people started to go to stadium then eat. It has grown into something bigger than ever.
In the MLS at an Orlando City matches supporters section if you are an away supporter you have the opposition jersey on you are not allowed to be in there . The away supporters are usually on the opposite side in one section. The Orlando City supporters section stand are three or four sections across. You will see away fans mixed in with other sections of stadium.
Keep in mind that these huge college games and stadiums are at big universities. For example, The Ohio State University currently has nearly 67,000 students. When you take into account alumni, friends and fans along with a terrific football culture, these stadiums can be easily filled.
Most American sports have a lot of built in stoppages so it makes sense to throw ads into those unused spaces. Although the ad breaks in American football have gotten a bit out of control.
@ college football is bad too. Those early afternoon SEC games on CBS are the worst I’ve ever seen. I’ve been in Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoons just baking in the sun while the players stand around waiting for commercial break to end. Absolutely brutal.
So why aren’t sports that big in the UK? I mean how many pro teams are in Jersey? So you just do without? This is just so odd. You guys are only getting the tip of the iceberg.
100,000. The high school I worked at in Texas would pull 10,000. 1 reason college football is so popular is the NFL only has 32 teams usually Centered around a Centered around a metropolitan Area. So if you're in North Dakota or Wyoming there is no pro team close to you. There are 257 NCAA division 1 teams. To illustrate just how serious we take our college football please react to the Georgia bulldogs $80M football facility.
100,000. Part of the reason college football is so popular is that there are only 32 professional teams. So if you live in say Wyoming there's no professional team anywhere around there but you know university of Wyoming Fields a very good team. I like it cause they're cowboys. Regarding the national anthem you'll also see when the teams run out and they're carrying their school flag every time I've seen it there's also an American flag. Sometimes sometimes they Unroll a flag as big as big as the field. Flyovers cost . Many people watch the super bowl just for the commercials. This year one 30 second commercial during the super bowl will cost $7,000,000 Fans do interminable There is a home and away side of the field but I don't know how they determine Who goes on what side Who goes on what side. In baseball home team is always on the 3rd baseline.
Ads are why I've quit watching American sports. All I watch is rugby. Our professional rugby does have ad breaks. Onece at midway of each half. They use the excuse of calling them "Water Breaks" claiming that is is necessary due to heat. It becomes obvious that it's an ad break when you're watching a match with snow that has been plowed off the pitch piled along the sides of the pitch and they still have their 'water break'. Big crowds are not just for college sports. Thousands of people are often at High School sporting events.
I like you guys, i really do, but the audio is so bad on this channel that I'm considering blocking you and unsubscribing. It sounds so echo-y, and so bad. You would think that this channel has under 100 subs based on the audio. Its worse than poor people on xbox live. Its the WORST audio on all of TH-cam. Idk how you dont upgrade the mics

Happy Christmas to all the Beesleys!
Ya'll would love tailgating!! Most everyone is kind and willing to share the goodies they have to eat/drink. You'll meet some great people.

Microphone game has to get better. Love your content.
It sounded like they had the speaker channels mixed up.
If you want to see huge crowds you need to check a mega church. Imagine a football stadium full of people praying, singing hymns and preachers preaching.
The student Bible study. The Christmas marketer. You’ve never seen anything like it.
Very difficult to hear, I don't know if there is a sound issue on their end, I noticed this on their recent videos.
It seems slightly fuzzy. James' accent is pretty thick, so not having crisp audio makes me miss the occasional word. And I agree, it used to be better.

Look up the most expensive American High School Football Stadiums. Got an 80 million dollar one 15 minutes away.
The ads in American football are getting borderline ridiculous. They are toeing the line of what is acceptable. And the crazy part is that a lot of the time, everyone in the stadium is sitting around waiting like a timeout had been called for them to get back from commercial break.
Unfortunately, ads are the way they pay for the flyovers
We have 50 or more people that attend a children's football (soccer) game.
Merry Christmas
American football is the only sport I know where the final two mins. of the game lasts, in reality, for fifteen mins. Sometimes longer.
Be careful what you wish for. I just tailgated Penn State vs SMU at Beaver Stadium in State College, PA. It was 20F/-6C and windy most of the day. Our Buffalo Chicken dip froze and the food heaters weren’t hot enough to actually warm food.
At U of M in Michigan they get over 100,000 people for a game

Yep, we are all brothers...even those scumbags supporting Ohio State. Go Blue!

Such a strange video to share on Christmas Eve? Merry Christmas everyone?
Merry Christmas and happy boxing day

Something was weird with your microphones in this one. It sounds distorted. Good content though. Merry Xmas :)

Whats going on with your set up lately? It’s blurry and you can’t hear.
The audio on this is terrible

Volume up, i can barely hear you both

you guys need to fix your mic, it's hard to here you
You. Need. To. Tailgate.
If you went to a tailgate and just explained that you were wondering exactly what a tailgate party is, you would get welcomed completely.
Maybe you can try malassada next. They are Portuguese fried dough. They are seen in Southeastern New England and Hawaii.
Volume

Glad I started boycotting the NFL over 20 years ago, then :)

It's one of the primary sources of revenue that pay for the players, coaches, medical staff, executives, office personnel, stadiums, jets, and so on.
Some smaller colleges will be more like your college sports. Like the university in my town isn't as well known, so it's not crowded at the games.
Ok, please explain cricket?
The sound to this video is bad
Do they know that their audio is terrible? Their new setup is sub-par. The lighting, sound...everything is really off.
Lead ball? Never heard of it 😭
I think they were saying "net ball" but the sound is such poor quality
