    8:23 Percussive Maintenance! Great! ;-)
    I faced this problem two times yet. First time I dismantled the Circuit completely, reassembled it and it worked again.
    The second time I just threw it in the corner out of anger and.... it worked too!
    Thanks to you I know now, it's "percussive maintenance".
    Wonderful!

      Do you have to press shift?

    • @JanMyler
      @JanMyler 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GraemeMarkNI As far as I know, shift + session triggers the change immediately and the new session continues from the current position within the sequence. For resetting session change just re-triggering the current session would work, but with shift it's more immediate. In both ways, however, you lose any unsaved modifications to the currently playing session.

    Don’t know if you’ve already covered this elsewhere but: with 1.8 firmware and a low BPM the individual steps (using microsteps) in a pattern can be used to sequence and store chiptune-style arpeggios; these can then be duplicated across the pattern; a fewer-steps pattern can be nudged through with each iteration to create a melodic progression while working on the note page alone

    I like the fact that you can set the length to a pattern (not sure if it's called this) to create polyrhythmic loops. So, for instance, add chords and set the length of the pattern to six and let the drums and bass play with a full-length pattern.
    I also have used the half-tempo + microsteps to play longer progressions. It takes a bit longer, but you get so much more space with this method.

  • @NevilleHayfield

    Your the man Bro 👊💪👏🔥. It's been a long time since I've been into synth's. The last group box I owned was the Roland MC303 I got day of launch. I also had a Roland JP8000 ( ABSOLUTELY MENTAL SOUNDING SYNTH. ) Still one of my faves
    Yamaha CS1X , AN1X (BOTH THE 1X SYNTH'S WERE AWESOME ),DX27S and a few other bits and pieces. I've recently been watching TH-cam the last 6 months on this sort of stuff. Watching Bo, Looper and yourself. He's got me wanting to get back into it. A couple days ago I got offered a circuit for a fairly good price, being it was second hand but untouched it was basically new. Bit of a last minute spontaneous buy. Because I'm trying to get my two young kids into it. But now I wish I just got the circuit tracks and saved a few more pennies up. Because now I want to get back into it myself thanks to you guys. So I've got myself a couple volcas. The FM and Sample 2, and a keystep 37. Haven't even had chance to turn any of them on yet. So can't wait to crack your own and see what's what. I'm a bit disappointed that the circuit didn't have some form of LED. . Although I've heard a lot of hate for the MC 303 groove box. The Arpeggiator was wicked. And it was so easy to flip through the synth sounds and drums. And you knew exactly where everything was. Was thinking about getting a number one just for the appreggiator. Good stuff Gabe 👊💪👏🔥

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In terms of workflow and build, it probably can, and it can sound super nice. But the 707 has a ton more features and stuff you can fine tune, so it's a little more complete and more powerful. I couldn't see myself making bass music with the 707 though, and it definitely can't compete on price.

      Hey man, could you tell me how can i do that? i accidentally erased my sessions by doing this, and i can't understand how to do that properly. Now when i load session and load a pack, my sessions sounds are overwritten by a pack that i've loaded

    • @djofortunato5799
      @djofortunato5799 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you created your sessions in a pre existing pack, like the Factory Pre-sets etc.
      -Go to Novation Components. Save your Session Data (individual sessions, good time give them proper names) on your desktop/laptop.
      - Load the Pack of Patches & Samples you wrote your Sessions on originally.
      - Then switch out the Sessions for Your Sessions.
      Your Midi data should transfer to the original patches & samples (though you may lose some meta data).
      FYI - this is also a great technique if your want to try your Sessions out with (1) different drums or samples as well (2) a different set or mixed set of patches, from different packs.
      I just recustomized my entire Pack of original Sessions with better Drums, and switched out several of my synth patches for better ones - while keeping the original sounds of ones I liked.
      Mix & match, have Fun !
      & Most Impprtantly : Keep backing up your circuit pack & projects in Components. (That way if anything goes awry. You can go back to your previous Pack & All of its parameters)
      (*Bonus tip: also delete old packs, as you go, until you have packs that represent a full project / set(s) worth uploading on the go !)

    Is there a good way to use the Circuit as a midi controller? I am just trying to use the circuit with a drum rack in ableton. It is impossible to get the 4x4 grid working properly. I am guessing it is skipping notes because of the scale mode that I can't figure out how to shut off. Right now I route the midi from synth 1 into ableton (track 1) and only certain notes in the drum rack are triggered. Is there a way to do this?

    • @cameronpritchard626
      @cameronpritchard626 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That isn’t really what this is for, this is a standalone groove box. I think that you want something like the Presonus Atom or any drum pad

      @mmerc808 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cameronpritchard626 Yeah I have a launchpad for this stuff but its broken I can't get it to work. I really can't spend any cash at the moment. The Atom looks interesting tho if it integrates well with ableton that could be a possibility some day in the future..

    • @simplygamic
      @simplygamic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mmerc808 the circuit sends out its drum midi in channel 10. Set up a a drum rack and change the input for that to the circuit now change the input channel to 10. Now you can draw in the drum midi in the circuit and it'll play through the drum rack. Midi channel 1 is for the synth 1. Which means any data going into the circuit on channel 1 will trigger the synth 1, any midi going out of the circuit from synth 1 will trigger midi tracks with input channel 1. Same is true for synth 2 which is linked to midi channel 2.
