As a Naval Aviator during the Viet Nam conflict, these reflections are more than poignant. The courage and stamina of these exemplary airman form all ingredients of the "Right Stuff". The story with William Sharp, shows the depth of human emotions, both high and low, he takes the reader on that adrenaline trip with him. Thank you all, for your leadership and courage. And thank YOU, Mr. McIntyre, for serving our country in the same capacity. You could have very well been one of these contributors. No doubt everyone here would like to hear your collection of sea stories as well. Your countrymen are proud of you and the men of this video as well. Fair winds and following seas! Hey mate...what's up with all of those pictures and videos of burned and dead civilian kiddies and elderly that you guys allegedly hit? Basically what I saw claimed that most US pilots in SEA are despicable war criminals who got away with it. Do you think this is pro lefty communist propaganda or is there an ugly truth that needs to be exposed? Prudence demands that I hear the perspective of someone who was there.

Enjoyed the stories very much. As one that served in the Air Force from 1975 to 1999 I had many opertunities to work with and listen to the war stories of Vietnam veterans. I wasn't sent to the gulf and though promised the opertunity to watch my wing strike videos, on the day my planes were in the pattern from their return from the gulf I was in my car with my family leaving for a new assignment. My hat is off and thanks goes to out that have seen combat. Thank all of you for you sacrifice and service.

We were always on our toes when they would send out the land based F-4 Marines from NAS Cubi Point to carrier qual. Easy to see they were rusty, given several touch & goes b4 letting them drop the hook. Not much glide path on the Phathom, really just a controlled crash. Still my all time favorite bird, miss those days immensely🇺🇸

This is great stuff. The start of Top Gun is very good. I was in the Navy from 1965-1969. I was in Vf-154 which was the sister squadron of Vf-121. We shared a hangar at Miramar NAS just outside of San Diego. This fellow who started Top Gun, was on two Vietnam cruises with my squadron Vf-154, we were the Black Knights. I enlisted at age 20. It brings back a lot of memories. I was not a driver of the F4 Phantom, I did work on the radar system. When he was speaking of his flying in war time in Vietnam, I know exactly what he is talking about, as we served at the same time. Go Navy!!!

Every morning before I am fully awake, there is a period of time when I think my dad is still alive, as he was in my dreams seconds beforehand. Is long as I am still very drowsy I consider new things to do with him this day. But by the time I am out of bed of course I know full well that I was half dreaming, that he is long gone, and it's quite hard to reconcile this every day. But it's worth having that short drowsy time to think he is still alive, and still capable.

What a great dicumentary... It captured the critical moments that took place, during these wars... What really hit home about this is when one of the men who was shot, down then captured on a small fishing vessel and had an opportunity to escape but had no choice, but to kill his captor (another young man) to do so... And the way he described it was intense... Both of them were armed , the enemy not knowing he was armed started to aim his rifle before being able to use it onto the man with the pistol , already sighted in... He described that both if them did not want to be pushed into that situation, that both of them could have been sitting at a bar viewing the pretty girls .. After he was forced to kill his captor, he said that he was sorry to have to have done that to him ... He still seemed to feel very bad about that...
Let God decide - whether those who did their duties to preserve freedom and happiness back home, and for iur allies; are guilty or innocent of adverse situations that were actually forced upon them... We are Americans, and if we have to, we will FIGHT to preserve our freedom.. The majority of our adversaries, go to war - because they fear the totalitarion ways their leaders threaten their lives and their families lives...
We fight to preserve peace... The leaders of totalitarion governments usually start wars to establish power & control over their people...

Denny Wisely was one of my XO’s in VF-151 aboard the Midway flying F-4’s. Great Naval Officer and pilot.

Royce Williams! Is he the ultimate or what. Took on seven Mig -15s with a F9F and got four. So I figure in his case the straight wing helped save him as his plane was more maneuverable because of that. Plus the Russians were over-confident, at least at first and after that they were just pissed. Anyway you can tell just by his story he has Cool.

Small world, Crash Nash was my CO on board the USS Midway CV-41, VF-161 Rock Rivers/Chargers. Our XO at the time CDR Shurtleff told us story's about the CO at a squadron party on Grande Island, Cubi Point, Philippines.

When I was about 8 or 9 my mother and grandmother took me to see all the ships during fleet week in SF in 1978. I have a picture of my mother, grandmother and I in front of the numbers 61. uss ranger cv 61. April 3 1989. I trapped about the USS RANGER. Left her in on march 3 1993 v5 and v1 crash and salvage. Got work with an pilot call sign "BUG" THE coolest mfer on the planet. He past away open his third ejection. That man thought me so much about the navy and life in it.
