    The birds in the background is the best ambience background for your videos. Don't ever dare to close the window again!!

      @@AllanJayQuesada I love the birds singing at your window. I assume that they will sound great early in the morning.
      No need to mention that you don't have to add music on the videos. What sort of birds are these btw?

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Creative Colours i record very early in the morning at around 5am so you also hear rooster from our neighbor. I am not sure what birds are those but I am familiar with some like the sparrows, doves, bulbuls, pied fantails, and sunbirds. I choose to record early because it's more peaceful, fewer cars on the street, and neighbors are asleep.hehe

      @@AllanJayQuesada Really? It doesn't look like you record so early in the morning. But whatever is the case the birds' singing is fantastic. It changes the mood of the videos. Most people add some sort of music in their videos but who else has birds singing by demand?!
      Aside of the birds these paints look great. ( let's go back to the subject of the video... ha ha ha...) . I assume that you know that Chinese painting colors are not regular watercolors. They are made for painting on semi transparent papers without sizing. And they are very brilliant because in Chinese painting they apply the colors on the backside of the paper. The front size has the inking and the backside the colors. So if you intent to use them on regular watercolor paper, you will have to adapt your technique.
      So it is not exactly right to compare them with the other watercolors that you have already swatched. These are probably closer to the Kuretake Gansai ones.

      @Creative Colours hahaha. Yeah i do it at around 4 to 6am that's why the roosters are also joining the birds.
      Ive heard these techniques needed for Chinese paintings but haven't really done the disciple.. I'd love to do it a bit more formally intime, say when I travel to China or if i meet a traditional Chinese painter.. with all the appropriate materials like rice paper etc. That'd pay respect to the medium and I'd gain new skill as well.
      I also agree, they couldn't be compared with the traditional paints. I just needed to just show them side by side. I'm happy too I was able to adapt ny usual way of painting to this set. 😊

    That's okay my friend, we love the birds.
    I love these paints. I use them as gouache. They work perfectly for an en plein air palette because they dry nicely in the palette without crumbling. The horrible smell from the animal glue binder also goes away when dry.
    Love love love these paints as a gouache, but not as a watercolor.

      Yay for the birds. 🤣 🐦 🦜 🦚
      Oddly i didn't smell anything from my set.. maybe it depends on the batch? I agree this set is gonna be good for pleinair. 👍

    The correct translation of "green head" is "first green".
    In Chinese colours, it has the name of "second green", "third green" for different shades of green too.

      Oh i see. Thank you for sharing this information. 🙏 it reminds me as well on how Holbein and Shinhan name some of their colors. With numbers 1, 2 and so on. 😊

    Don't worry about the birds, I love hearing them in your videos. I have never been to the Phillipines, but I would love to go, and when I think of there I always imagine that there is a lot of bird sounds coming from everywhere. And your videos have confirmed this idea! 😄
    And this review was timed perfectly, I have been looking at this set of paints lately, thinking about whether I should give it a try. I mostly work with transparent regular watercolors, but I do enjoy more opaque paints, too. The paints themselves look great, I am just not happy about the color selection. I might still buy the set though because the swatches and especially your painting look wonderful.

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      😊🦢🦜🪶🐦 yeah, i can agree that almost everywhere here, even in the city, you'll hear the birds, especially in the morning. You should visit sometime, and checkout the beaches. ⛱️ Im happy with these paints as a special set of non-traditional western paint and i agree, the color selection is my main issue in this set. And also that it doesnt fully adhere well on paper,.. so if you're using it kn sketchbook, just use one side of the page cause it's gonna smudge on the opposite page. That's what i forgot to mention on the video. 😔

    古彩 is pronounced gucai - 'ancient/classical color' that's the product name. It's like the Japanese gansai because the binder is animal collagen based. Not really meant to be translucent watercolors as we know them. More comparable to gansai tambi in ingredients and usage. Thanks for your reviews!

    It seems like these paints are designed for calligraphy and probably work better on calligraphy paper. Thank you for showing the swatches with the other paints. For my style of painting, I prefer vibrant colours that can be muted with mixing, so I may not use this for watercolour painting, but for calligraphy this looks quite good.

    • @AllanJayQuesada

      I can say it's thick, almost like goauche, and has a tendency to be chalky when used thickly.
