I kept this video in my watch later playlist for a while, and im really happy to finally get to it! This is a really great video! I especially like the emphasis of specific artists, it was very interesting to hear beyond the music and im glad to hear theyre still making music!!
"Stay with me" by Miki Matsubara, sounds very similar to "It's The Falling In Love" by Carole Bayer Sager. It sounds like it has the same beat. What stands out to me the most in CityPop is the Disco/Funk influence. The more I listend to CityPop the more I wanted to listen to more English Disco/Funk songs. "Redbone" by Childish Gambino sounds a lot like Citypop in my opinion.
Thanks a lot for this video I basically agree with all your points and knew these were the reasons why this genre just instantly spoke to me but I was never able to put it into words You did it perfectly and elegantly
This was a very interesting video. While I listen to a lot of Japanese jazz fusion the other genres of city pop are rather unknown to me. Maybe now I need to give them a listen

This is such a well made video! Love it when people shine a spotlight on City Pop!
