I'm a Floridan - if you're disabled there are specialty handicapped/medical evacuation centers. If you need electrical set up for Oxygen there are centers you can evacuate to.

We are on the 5th floor of a modern apartment building so were safe, were tapping the 1st keg Thursday at noon.

My folks had a home in Englewood Florida for forty years; they were Snow birds.
Never did a hurricane do any destruction to their home except one that took some shingles off their roof. Since they've passed into eternity a couple years ago their home has been struck by one hurricane. I don't know if their home was effected by Helene, either. It was all the rosaries my mother prayed for all those years that protected their home. Thank you blessed Mother Mary and please intercede for all those of North Carolina and all those effected and potentially may be effected in parts of Florida. 🙏

Pine Island, FL...we were in the "eye" of Ian...Cat 4-5..upon impact....the roads out now for Milton are inundated with traffic...the bridge off the Island is under construction and down to one-lane...if we evacuate, we may not be able to return for weeks...guess we'll take our chances in our home and watch for looters; both two-legged and four-legged. Life in Florida. Prayers for Tampa and her residents.

What I feel is that everything will be fine. It just nature moving in it course. I live in Fl , watched many hurricane, none of them touched my house. I felt safe inside while the huge wind moving outside. Dont fear nature. Animals know how to protect themselves, they dont fear, they just do what their instinct guide them.

Trust me, a 3 is absolutely insane. The strongest I've been through is a 2 and I swore NEVER to stay through that again.
It’s really not that bad. Don’t need to evacuate unless at risk of flood or storm surge, or your home is weak (like mobile home or manufactured home), or your health is weak and you need power or oxygen. Outside these things just hunker down with water and food.
