- Masaoka, the "old dog" of Division 01 and Ginoza's father... that he seems to hate despite his kind and gentle nature? A man who follows Sibyl; the very thing that stole his life? The real story behind this goes deep into Psycho-Pass lore, and it's one of the most interesting stories in this dark cyberpunk anime, but one we can cover today!

His story starts well before 2112, going all the way back to 2058 for himself, and 2020 for the Sibyl System, which heavily influences his character. A formerly dedicated detective, now resigned to be "the hunting dog of Sibyl," a system he's openly against. Why does he follow that system? Well, we know that he's a kind man, one who protects those around him. Is this the real reason? Or, is it so he can try and be a father once more, after losing his son when he was only 8?

No problem, thanks for checking it out! I was actually planning on putting him and Ginoza in one video, but I underestimated just how much there was to each of them. Every watch of Psycho Pass gives me something different, and I'm happy to spread some love for a character I overlooked before! 😄
Masaoka is so underrated, I also love his design he reminds me of wolverine in one way

I'd agree. That was more of a subtle detail in what I wrote, and I focused a bit more on his relationship with Masaoka, but there is some mention of those feelings in the video!

I’m loving the character analysis of Masaoka and appreciate that someone took the time to do a deep dive into his character but the live action skits are lame.
I think we have similar tastes of Anime that never survives because of conformity...
A lot of what I enjoyed certainly has some sort of leading non-conformist character
I like your analysis as usual, but the whole acting stuff was too shoehorned. I really didn't like it. It is clunky and unnatural for the whole video analysis. The emotional tone don't work. Sorry. 😐
That's fair, it wasn't planned from the start so I had to rework things on the fly, which certainly hurt. But, I was happy to try something new, and I know for future attempts it needs to be part of the plan from day 1
