There's some truth to this caricature of Norwegians, but let's be clear, this is a caricature and first and foremost of the public sector - a caricature that is valid in any country, including USA.

Attended a 'few' meetings in my Norwegian workplace, rules was: show up prepared, no earlier than three minutes, and no later than two.
And there was no Peacocking or bullshit to be seen anywhere, just finish the meating in an ordelrly manner and take care of the things
listed on the agenda to the best of the greater good :)

If people come 5-10 min to early its ok....I dont like that people from other countries brag about Norway..We are not perfect... Please find some negatives....

Me too. No egos or taking up space!! 💜 I am a Venezuelan living in USA and this is one aspect of life where I never felt I belong to my country or here.
I think I am naturally inclined to speaking only when necessary and recognizing performative behaviors. It’s not that it’s bad, extroversion and all it comes with it can be great for some, but it feels really uncomfortable and phony to me because I can’t help but think “how do people act like this? Why is it rewarded? Don’t they notice the BS?😱” but that’s what’s expected so technically “I am wrong” while I live under these social rules.
It is a relief knowing there are other realities and I am eager to experience them some day because this is not good for my soul. Of course too much of the law of jante can be constricting. I have actually read comments by Norwegians saying that whole set of rules, are actually disingenuous …
but you never know until you live it I guess.

Funny story, yes we like our meetings to start on time ... but one time when our King and Queen went to the whitehouse to meet with President Bill Clinton .. something happend and they had to wait outside the Whitehouse at the car .. looking "stupid" before a aid came to let them in, and shortly after the President and his wife came running too ... hehe but our King took it well and proclaimed "Welcome to the whitehouse" to Bill Clinton :-P he is a good king and have a very good mood and jokes alot.

@@WorkingwithNorwegians yeah like when he said in a interview about the research station at the south pole... he looked at his wife, "you know, the one we named after you!!!" ... station name was Troll... But he ofcourse later said he kinda regretted saying that but to be honest ... Queen is not that bad either and I hope she did not let him have to sleep at he livingroom after that :-P hehe I think she took the joke.

If you can’t make your point with your words, hand waving and outside voices aren’t going to help.
