- Grinden was designed in 1973 as a spacious family-friendly boat and for racing with a view to the IOR half-ton class. It showed its superb sailing qualities with good positions in the Scandinavian Half Ton Cup and Skaw Race.
Grinden received the ID award in 1977 for industrial design.

One of the best boatdesigns ever. Fast, roomy, sturdy, seaworthy, iconic appearance. Good for familysailing, racing, ocean crossings. There is only one drawback: for a sailor in shallow waters like me her draft of 5.6' is simply a no go. That's why I decided for her (6 years) older, a bit more traditional cousin, the Allegro 27 with a draft of only 4.2'
An early example in this remarkable blue color! Fine! Enjoy your boat! More footage is under scuderiagrinde .
That‘s why I‘m sailing a Contest 28 with 1,4 m draft!
