He is a fantastic player. I just sometimes wish that young players would start with playing with breaks and rhythm changes. To me it sounds to much like a scale exercise. The lines you mention, are maybe lines. But here I miss the musically lines and quotes.... Sorry, not bashing Gould. He is good, no doubt. But in general institutions, like Berklee, are producing musicians that are far to obsessed with who can play the fastest and with most notes per minute.. Its playing music, not a contest. I'm sounding like a grumpy old man, even I am not, but anyway...
Jan J That’s fair. Everyone is entitled to their own taste! For me personally I like hearing the fast notes. Not necessarily because it’s impressive/flashy, but because of all the colors it generates from an instrument that can only play one note at a time. It’s like a super long paint brush stroke that changes colors as it travels across the canvas.
Two idols, two of my teachers, Chad and Andrew. Very proud/blessed to say I even know you two. I think I’ll either A) cry, or B)donate my Saxophones to charity. 🤯🤯🤯
Stunningly beautiful playing showcasing exciting virtuosity, deep musicality, original line construction, next gen arrangement (Feifke!) all framed in a classic, timeless tune. And can we take a second and acknowledge the crisp, clean, coherent MIX from Noah Kellman? Simply murderous solos from Chad and Andrew Gould, culminating in an old school conversation... like Trane and Bird mighta had. Modern minded, energized, craftsmanship -- it's all here. 2020 was a year of death and disappointment... this is pure joy and optimism. Thanks Chad, and all of you for that.
No matter how many times I listen to it, I still can't wrap my head around how the trombone lick at 4:36 is possible at that speed, let alone with that many players in sync. Truly incredible
Chad is so layed back and smooth. He should start a big band and bring that era back. Great ensemble and arrangement. Where is Jay at. I’d love to see him crush some solos on alto alongside Chad.
Chad, I love listening to you. So many influences but still retain your own sound. IMHO, I like your sound better on the white mpc that you played on La vie en rose.

Chad gives a masterclass here on how to play musically at a blazing fast tempo. Beautiful phrasing!

I can't even hear that fast
Listening to this while eating my birthday cake. Great experience
Love the rhythmic stuff Chad plays starting 1:49. He’s still singing through the horn even at a fast tempo like this.
Two idols, two of my teachers, Chad and Andrew. Very proud/blessed to say I even know you two. I think I’ll either A) cry, or B)donate my Saxophones to charity. 🤯🤯🤯
So weird to see such incredible shredding -- in bright white living rooms. Can't wait for clubs to open again.
Andrew Gould always humbles everyone’s egos with his solos
1:24 absolutely love that Steve Marcus quote from channel one Suite.
Thanks man, can you post the link to that? I've been looking for it.

1:32 🐦❗
you know whats up
C'est magique !!!!! mille bravos à. vous tous
I really want Chad to collab with SaxLogic that would be a dream come true, or with Eric marienthal. . .PLEASE SOMEONE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!
No, I don’t think I will.
He just did a collab with saxologic (but in super smash bros of all things)
Eric marienthal and Chad would be insane to see. Both are beasts.
Chad + Saxlogic = Lion + kitten. And that kitten would get eaten. Please, no one make this happen. Chad and Eric on the other hand... mhm....
@@BrownmanMusicArchivesalmost as scary as if Phil woods and brecker happened.
This is so good
Chad, I love listening to you. So many influences but still retain your own sound. IMHO, I like your sound better on the white mpc that you played on La vie en rose.
