I had to. In the scenario presented, I could only think of how he'd respond, and I think he'd be properly angry of the abuse of stingrays for the sake of tourism. And if he was able to survive his injury by the stingray, he'd be all "crikey, I should've known better than to be above her tail! Look at that beauty and how she defended herself from a potential threat!"
From what I understand of this incident, he wasn't intentionally trying to provoke the stingray, he just happened to be in the wrong place at the right time. Unlike humans, rays are far more agile in their aquatic environment and react rapidly.
Steve Irwin actually stated to the camera man that he was afraid people would retaliate against stingrays. It was a freak accident. He would be appalled at this.

I've been homeless since about 2011, and my settlements of choice have always been alone in the woods with my chickens. I love nature and being in it. I love hearing and watching the animals do their thing. I often find a place that my boys will be happy exploring near me while I sit with a pair of binoculars and a field guide for local birds and spend hours just... watching, listening, existing. It sucks so much when I stumble into what appears to be pristine wilderness... only to come across rusted barbed wire, broken glass, and who knows what else. Where I'm currently at, people treat the woods like their own, personal gun range despite signs posted saying the only place you're actually ALLOWED to shoot guns is a specific abandoned quarry, or hunting season with appropriate licenses and permissions. I had one guy stalking me a few years ago, and I go out to yell at him all the time for trampling endangered wildflowers (Trilliums mainly), and he'd keep saying he's sorry, and loves nature, and would never hurt anything on purpose... but this idiot was so self-centred and cared so little that he didn't notice a Sapsucker nest above where he constantly would stand, scream, smoke, smash sticks like a toddler having a tantrum, etc., that the parents eventually abandoned the babies. I've also watched many places of natural beauty end up taken over by homeless folks and destroyed. This is why I opt to live alone.
