Hello Lucia, Welcome to the world that grumpy men tend to think of as their own. I have been working as a machinist, toolmaker, while welding and fabricating what we need on our farm. Grandpa is fortunate to have someone to hand the reins to at this inevitable part of our lives. You, and your husband are fortunate also, to have each other to hug and lean on during “those” times. My wife Diann and I have been married for fifty years, and are supportive of each other’s dreams and needs in life. This can be a great source of joy and comfort. My best to you and your family, in your adventure. Your’s, is the first lavender mill vise that I have
From the USA......I would love to be your neighbor, I live outside of Washingto, DC. and everyone here is a paper pusher, can not even change a light bulb. Your building skill is great. What a nice person, thank you for all the videos. I am waiting for your skid steer project to start again. What a cool project.
I love you, with genuine admiration. Your husband is so blessed to have you and you to have him to motivate, encourage and support you to blossom into the beautiful flower yet capable powerhouse that you are., You are a blessing to the rest of us! Thank you both! My life is better and joyous, having experienced your videos!!
TH-cam is the best, there are some seriously skilled and experienced people on here and gaining knowledge from them for completely free is amazing. The skills we learn on here would cost thousands in course fees elsewhere.
couldn't agree more. i am fifty eight and learned playing guitar in the '80 (way before youtube). looking back now at the amount of time i wasted looking for information, i wish i had youtube then.
I know your Grandpa is so happy to know you learned a great deal wiyh his encouragment. You welding skills are really super nice. Have a blessed day and keep smiling.
I was impressed by you and your wisdom from your first video and am impressed more with each video. I love that you are using your grandpa's shop and tools and that you have the support of you husband and family behind you. That makes for a winning ticket.
Thanks Lucia for the background on the shop and yourself. I appreciate that you are self taught, and do not let thing stand in your way. Kudos to your husband for assisting you in any manner that he can. Also, thanks for the motivation to clean up my shop as well.
Lucia, it was a pleasure for me to find your channel and get to know your work and your challenges. I'm Brazilian and I try to follow MANY Russian channels, mainly related to the development of mechanical artifacts and, surprisingly for me, I discovered a lot of similarity between Brazil and Russia in this field, in the way of doing things, in sharing their way of doing things, I would say, even in the lightness of living and working (in detachment from what they do and how they do it). I've been learning A LOT from this follow-up of Russian videos (spoken in Russian, which I try to solve with TH-cam's automatic traditions). Today we have several Russians (usually Russians women) living in Brazil, spreading the Russian language and culture, and helping to bring our countries and our national souls closer together. A big hug.
I think it’s fantastic what you are doing, it’s incredible to see a woman that is a phenomenal self taught fabricator. I’m 34 with four children, three being girls. We watch your videos together and I think it’s very inspiring for them and myself to see the level you are at! As a self taught individual as well, I will be introducing them to welding/fabrication after watching your content. Thank you for what your doing, keep up the great work!
Thank You to your grandfather !! You and your husband together do a truly wonderful channel, and its so good to now understand your backstory. Im really proud of you for your interest, initiative and success, as well Im also proud of your husband for being a wise man to encourage and assist you to follow your interest. Here in Australia, most men seem to be not quite so evolved and many, many dont want women in 'trades' work. I know this from first-hand experience as a woman who went through hell doing an electrical apprenticeship. Although that was many years ago and things have definately improved, as the younger men are so much less closed-minded. So I get a lot of enjoyment watching your channel, and I look forward to seeing you complete your projects. Kind regards !!
Well done Lucia. You are an inspiration to all those who want to accomplish something,it's great that you can learn and complete any task you set your mind to. The world needs more people like you.
You are awesome. I have a small welding and fabrication shop in Idaho specializing in pipe welding. I have been welding for 25 years and you inspire me at times. Best regards.
About being clean - I remember reading something Rudy Kouhoupt said. He has published many books about his shop wisdom, wrote many articles about machining and took and developed his own photos for the articles. Someone once asked why you never saw metal chips in his photos... he said you would see them when it was important for them to be there. I loved that. You don't have to be greasy, dirty to be a good fabricator... When that's important to what you're doing then it'll show. lol
I too am a grandpa and over 2 years ago pushing age 80 I decided to buy a TIG welder and learn aluminum welding. After building a couple of steel projects to get started on the machine, one of which was a stand for my mill, I switched to the aluminum. That stuff is very hard to weld compared to steel, and I don't know how you picked up those skills so very fast. I sure did not. Also I have been self taught mostly from TH-cam where I found you when you first started your welding in the shop. My first aluminum project was a cargo sled to tow behind the snowmobile. Not nearly as difficult as the boat you used to improve your skills. Now I guess it's time to go to the shop and continue on the current project, an aluminum launch tower for my rockets. You are amazing!!!!!
You are so very inspirational Lucia, I’ve been fabricating and welding for 40 years and am very impressed with your work. Can’t wait to see the completion of the skid steer
You husband is quiet good at handling the production/direction aspects, plus all the behind-the-scene muscle for your channel. You are a very pleasant, articulate and confident as the host and narrator. Truly interesting and a rare treat to enjoy.
You've become my inspiration Lucia! I enrolled in a welding program and am going to start next month! The ability to create, design, fabricate, duplicate, use your mind and your hands to build things is the dream. I have always thought outside the box and know and believe that if you have a willingness to learn a skill like this or anything for that matter it will take you far in life. To anywhere. Anyplace. And you can sustain yourself on it for the rest of your life. Thank you Lucia for being an inspiration to us all but most importantly for those who have been told you can't do this because you're a girl!
The most important thing to learn welding is when to weld. There are better times to use the process and not so good times. Basically only weld when you should and have to. Don't use the when all you have is a hammer then everything is a nail approach. Only weld when it is appropriate.
@@1pcfred I totally agree. I like to think of myself as the anti welder. If it’s not structural then the less welding the better. Mechanical fastening keeps the job neat and doesn’t stress the metal like you would get if you over welded something. Just depends on your project I guess.
@@carbonunit6573 it mostly depends on the opinion of the person. I didn't reach my conclusions immediately. It took some time living with things I'd made to draw them. Just how to differentiate what's parts and what's pieces. Pieces you can weld together. Parts you should fasten.

Wow. A woman with a workshop, just what a man needs! Is this some sort of dream? Interesting story, very well spoken, enjoyed the video. It was actually uplifting to see something nice from Russia with all that is going on and from such an educated and talented woman. You are amazing. I am sending the link to this video to my grand daughters for inspiration. Please make more videos, I enjoy every one of them! Thumbs up!
Over the years, I've watched so many TH-cam channels where the maker starts off very modestly with basic tools and skills, and I've enjoyed seeing them grow and improve and upgrade. I feel like I found Lucia's Workshop at the perfect time (a few months ago). She obviously has some brains and native talent, as well as a decently appointed shop to work in, and I can only imagine how awesome this channel will be in five years. I am looking forward to great things from her. I would also like to see her get folded into the group of makers that have similar channels and who collaborate on various projects. With her talent and personality, I could easily imagine joint efforts with the likes of Abom, Fireball Tool, This Old Tony, Inheritance Machine, Ca Lem, and even April Wilkerson... if Lucia found herself playing with wood. Honestly, how fun would it be to see her build something silly with Colin Furze?
What an awesome story. I too was inspired by my Grandad. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to work at his side. I take any opportunity I can to work with family. Congratulations Lucia!!!!
Grand parents are the best. They have time and so much knowledge that your willing to listen to as they are not your parents. My grandfather was a fitter turner and could make anything probably like your grandfather. Enjoy as much time with him as you can I wish I'd spend more with mine. Thanks for sharing your story. 👍
Lucia, as a grandfather I love that you’re being successful in YOUR grandpa’s space while he’s still around to enjoy and appreciate it! As a man, I love seeing such a charming and creative woman showing us part of her world… And as a fellow craftsperson I cannot thank you enough for your contributions to the craft world at large! THANK YOU!!!
I am very impressed by your attitude, your skills and your tenacity. Keep up the great work, I very much enjoy watching your videos and look forward to many more.
You are a rare and amazing soul Lucia, I'd like to toast your grandpa, your husband, and you - for helping to create such a wonderful life and story. Thank you so much for sharing, your sincerity and intelligence shines through all that you do. We are far more alike than I'd imagined, in many ways, and you even look like my sister (a lot!). So thank you sister, for contributing your knowledge, time, and skills to the benefit of others. I think I'm going to go ahead and get my channel launched now, I found your channel last night and you've already inspired me tremendously. Спасибо, сестра! 💙🙏
Thank you so much for this video, Lucia, and for sharing a little of you person. I love what you do and admire the courage it must have taken to change your career in such a dramatic fashion. Best wishes!
You’re a beautiful lady in just about every way possible and I bet your grandpa is thrilled beyond measure that you are using his shop and excelling like you are! I’m blown away by the things you build and the quality of your work especially considering how little time and experience you have as a fabricator, there are people who will work for a lifetime and not be able to turn out the work that you do. Keep up the good work!!
Mad respect for leaving the bank job and getting into something that is actually productive. Props to your husband for encouraging you to do what you want and like. Thanks for the Q&A vid. Cheers from the U.S.S.A.
Thanks for the backstory Lucia. Not only is your content amazing, so is your editing. I know having a channel myself, thats a whole other skill in itself. Looking forward to more videos!
Hello Lucia you could have been a model, but turned into an amazing crafts woman. You're welding and welding is second to none, your videos are inspirational and top notch. Thank you for sharing !!
I've been following you on LuciaReload since you first built the boat, and while subtitles helped, it was difficult to understand. I'm happy to see your new channel in English and I'm looking forward to watching your future projects.

Hi Lucia, my name is Leonard. I think that it's so cool that you have chosen to put your grandfather's shop to such good use. I have picked up a few neat tricks and actually wanted to try and copy your plasma table when I get some free time. I would also like to say what a lucky man your husband is to have such a beautiful and talented wife that doesn't mind getting a little dirty in the shop. Also would it be possible for us to meet your grandfather? It would be an honor to meet and thank a man who was so instrumental I teaching and helping you when in his day was not so easy to do. Thank you for being how you are, don't ever change, Leonard

You are a very impressive young lady, and your husband is a very lucky man indeed. Very much enjoy your projects. Thank you!
What an awesome story. I too was inspired by my Grandad. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to work at his side. I take any opportunity I can to work with family. Congratulations Lucia!!!!
Very impressive Lucia.
Prayers for your Grandpa. Keep up the good work.
What a marvelous story, best wishes to you and your family.🤠🤠
Grand parents are the best. They have time and so much knowledge that your willing to listen to as they are not your parents. My grandfather was a fitter turner and could make anything probably like your grandfather. Enjoy as much time with him as you can I wish I'd spend more with mine. Thanks for sharing your story. 👍
Lucia, as a grandfather I love that you’re being successful in YOUR grandpa’s space while he’s still around to enjoy and appreciate it!
As a man, I love seeing such a charming and creative woman showing us part of her world…
And as a fellow craftsperson I cannot thank you enough for your contributions to the craft world at large!
THANK YOU!!!

I'm so glad to see someone follow dreams - your site is one of my favorite.
Very cool shop! My hats off to you for your dedication and to your grandfather for his support!
Thank you very much😊
@@luciasworkshop thank you for sharing your story! I hope your grandpa is doing well 😊
I have watch a few of your videos in the last couple of months, this one made me subscribe; thanks for all your amazing work.
Mad respect for leaving the bank job and getting into something that is actually productive.
Props to your husband for encouraging you to do what you want and like. Thanks for the Q&A vid.
Cheers from the U.S.S.A.
Deep bow Lady. You’re doing a great job. And respect for your decision to take over the workshop and expand the work capabilities.
I wish you all the best. great work . Very positive and inspiring. Your husband and your grandad are angels
Such a great story! I'm so glad I found this channel.
Thanks for the backstory Lucia. Not only is your content amazing, so is your editing. I know having a channel myself, thats a whole other skill in itself. Looking forward to more videos!
Thank you😊
Need a Keystone Girl & Lucia colab lol!
@@sonarsup1934 hah! Ya thats a great idea. The Keystone girl wouldn’t be much help though. Unless she needs a beer of course.
Good for you. Keep it up. I always look forward to seeing one of your videos.
Thank you for sharing so much with us Lucia. You are an inspiration to us all and we are looking forward to more of your content.
Your grandfather must be very proud of your ability and understanding it's very impressive 👏
You are a very good speaker. I found your channel via your skid steer project, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you create.
I have always noticed and enjoyed how you do all this work and keep your nails manicured and often work in open toed shoes. It is usually Grundy looking men doing the work. You are a breath of fresh air. I was telling my wife about you the other day. Your husband is a very lucky man. We appreciate him also and the support he is to you. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Watching from Australia. Enjoying watching the skid steer project
Lucia, I’m So amazed at what you can do in your skill of Artistic, I wish you and family in success on many years to come.
Hi Lucia. I'm Impressed by what Your doing. Alot of people would be afraid to do work in a Machine Shop. John Brzozowski, 01-19-2023
Thank you for being how you are, don't ever change,
Leonard
To see you do the work you do is outstanding an the welding the designing on cad I can weld but my eyes are starting the feel the burn now and i do have two daughters i love to see them do what I do and my son but there still very young under 10 years old i have to say I'm very glad to see a change a female this time be a very good fabricator and o hope you expand on your blessed experience . Great story. Wonderful relationship with your grandfather 👍
I envy your husband, you are smart, lively, creative and most importantly handy... Keep up the good work, you've inspired me. And I've learned a lot. XOXO
You have come a long way in 3 years. Your grandfather must be so proud as you should be also. Thanks for sharing a bit of how you came to this point. 👍👍
I'm a fabricator as well and have been for 35 years, but I think I'll probably be learning a few things from you. That boat is very impressive. Good job.
Oh, I'm very pleased with the fact that my videos are useful and contain things to learn even for experienced fabricators.
@@luciasworkshop My mentors told me you learn something new every day and it's so true. Again, for me, it's so uncommon to see woman doing what you're doing, so I hope you never tire of such an art. Have a great day
