- There's so many things that Granny makes that our family loves, but one of our favorites is Holy Smoke Cake. The dessert is fairly common and has several other names. It's always a special time here in the Appalachian Mountains when Granny makes a Holy Smoke Cake.

How blessed to have your granny. The one and only grandma i knew, died when i was 30. I am 64 and a grandma now.
Enjoy her time with you!
I love Granny’s humility. Giving the lady from the cookbook credit. That’s a perfect example of a southern Granny. Humble, beautiful, wonderful
Looks great 😅
Has nothing to do with being Southern... all grandmas used to be like that.
@@polarbearsrus6980 💚💚
Granny is such a lovely soul. The energy generated by her kindness, wisdom and humility came right through the computer screen and hit me head-on. I love this lady.
I watched this and just made me smile and cry all at the same time. I set and picked out things that reminded me of things my grandmothers use to do or say. This lady is a true National Treasury, people like that is just such a delight.
Don’t you just LOve her.🌷
I just love your Granny!! What a Dear. Reminds me of my Grandmother.❤️❤️🌹
Salt of the earth!
I was thinking the same thing!
She is at that. I love the episodes she is on. Reminds me of all the sweet ladies I grew up with.
She is an example of the perfect granny . She is beyond sweet !!!
She is a treasure!
I miss my mom and granny and great aunts more than I can say. The love and respect we feel for our loved ones is undescribeable. Even the dear elderly voice of this granny falls like precious memories on my heart.
I feel like I'm back home from many years in the past....love your video ❤️
It sure does for me too! ❤ These voices remind me of so many in my family.
@@goldenblueeye5472 Thank the Lord we have those sweet memories ❤️
Ver well said, Dean Pippitt. I feel exactly the same.
Missing my dear Mother. Treasure these dear women for they're God's Blessings to us.
What a blessing to have a loving grandmother.
Agree! I didn’t have grandparents. I know I missed a lot. We have 5 grands now and 9 greats, I adore everyone of them.
What a doll!❤ Her voice and her spirit is so gracious , gentle and endearing!! Please have her back soon!!!
She reminds me of my little Mama that passed away in 2003 at age 82. I was her “late in life baby”… born when she was 38 and my dear Daddy was 43 in 1959. I miss them both more now than I did back then. You are so blessed to have such a lovely and humble Granny.
We have many similarities. My mom had me in 1959, too. She was 39 and my dad was 48.my mom died in 2002. My grief was indescribable. I miss her terribly even after 20 years.
@@Queenofthebackroads • I’m so sorry 😢. I understand that feeling.
I've often wondered if we didn't get the old saying wrong "time heals all wiounds" after losing my Mama 24 years ago, I'm 39 so that's over half my life, yes we move on to a degree but the loss, the missing them grows exponentially. I think the saying should go " time heals OR wounds". God Bless

YOUR GRANNY IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I MISS MY PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS.
That's her mom. They all call her granny.
@@pattyhill4682 OH MY. THANK YOU FOR CORRECTING ME. BEAUTIFUL FAMILY.
Granny is adorable
Thank you 😀
Your Mom is so beautiful! And I love your sweaters! Yummy-looking recipe! 😊
I love how Granny is enjoying the Holy Smokes cake so much! She's adorable and so modest!
One look at Granny and it reminded me of mine. She’s rich with love and compassion, her family is everything. So sweet!
I’m glad I found you😊
Good lord I was not prepared for the sheer amount of wholesomeness in this video. Made my heart smile, thank you for that. Your granny is such a gem.
Wow, thank you!
@@CelebratingAppalachia what a special grandma and what a special granddaughter you are. Looks great!

Granny is so humble and kind. How blessed you are to have her. Thank you for sharing her with us!
Thanks so much 😀
@@CelebratingAppalachia hi I am enjoying watching you back with your grand mother . I always used to bake with my mom. Brings back memories I am tearing up as I watch.
Blessings
@@Bob-ml1mv I'm so glad it reminds you of your sweet mother.
Your granny, her use of ‘yonder’ and her mixing bowl remind me of my own granny and her kitchen. Blessings to you and yours.
Me growing up, Grandma, where is that? Oh, it's over yonder 😂❤. Shed also say things were " this away, or that aways" instead of left or right ❤
Love how Granny corrected u on who should get credit. Very sharp and humble
Granny is one great lady, cooking and crocheting and with love put into it all ! So precious ❤✝️🇺🇸
Yes. I just love her. Women like Granny raise some of the best families on earth. Perfect example: Tipper, Matt and Corie and Katie.
We must protect this woman at all cost! She’s a national treasure
Agree wholeheartedly!!!
She has her family protecting her
I love seeing Granny! She reminds me of my own Grandma who was born in 1898 and lived to be 95 yers old. My Grandma was my Safe Person in my childhood. She always loved me and I always loved her. I'm 72 years old now and my Grandma died back in 1993. I still miss her. Thank you Tipper and Cory for sharing your Granny with us. She is a treasure! Thank you Granny for showing us how to make Holy Smoke Cake and for sharing your baking tips. That cake sure looks delicious.
I'm on the brink of 72 in a couple of months myself. My grandma was also born in 1898, but died in 1969, when I was only 18. She wasn't a cook, but she was my safe place, too. I had a good family and didn't really need a safe person, per se, but there was just a bond there that settled my soul. I spent lots of time at her home in the summer, playing Parcheesi and watching her crochet. I loved her so much and think of her often.
That’s a great description. I felt so safe w my grandmother. I loved her so much I didn’t think I could live without her. She died when I was 20 yrs old. I am now 68. I have such precious memories of our time together. Thanks for sharing your family 😊
❤ this is a great 😂video I really enjoyed it going to make it soon thanks granny we love you❤ do another one soon we wil be watching from iowal
My grandma was born in 1892 and passed away 1 year and 1 day before Elvis Presley (August 15, 1976, always helped me remember!). She became 84 years old, which was quite amazing, since she had diabetes, used insulin and was totally blind. If it wasn’t for her getting gangrene in her legs (and they didn’t do anything about it back then, so it developed and took her life), she would have become even older! Bless her, she was something special. Even blind she knitted and crocheted. She had 12 children, 9 lived up, as well as 3 step children (my grandpa was married to her cousin first, but she died and my grandma came to help him out with the children and ended out marrying him). All her children, including all the boys, were taught how to knit, crochet, embroider and sew. Some of the boys really loved this and kept using their skills their whole life, embroidering pictures and knitting clothes for kids and grandkids. I don’t remember her cooking and baking, that I have only been told about, as she all the time I can remember, was blind.
Mine died at 84 and also had diabetes,on insuline, and right before passing, she was having complications with her left foot that was starting to get gangrene.she took me and my brother under her care when my Birth Mother left me at 10 days old and my brother was 10 mos. old forever Thankful to this great woman in my life she had 11 children of her own and had to add us in,and she did with much love.
Granny is just so precious. Warms my heart!
I am a granny and a great nanny. I'm fortunate they live with me and my son, so we are 4 generations in our home. It's a real pleasure teaching my granddaughter how to cook and bake. She tells me all the time how grateful she is to have the opportunity. Most of her friends have lost their grandparents and they are so young in their 20's 💔
I'm so glad she has you 😀
😮!❤!
I miss my grandmother fiercely. Your Mama Tipper is not only an amazing cook but a phenomenal crafter and storyteller. Ty for sharing her with us and ty Granny for showing us your lovely ways ❤❤
So glad you enjoyed this one 😀
If granny keeps cooking like that she’ll need her own channel! Thanks for sharing your family with us Tipper, we are blessed.
Thank you so much 😀
I'd def LOVE a Granny Channel! I can't take my eyes off her.🤗❤
Absolutely!!
@@CelebratingAppalachia Thank ya'll for sharing your lovely Family & lives! Im absolutely addicted!!
God's Speed Only!!
I’m loving how Granny is polishing off her serving, “ don’t bother me I’m eating.” Granny, you bring back good memories of my Gram. Bless you.
Your granny is an absolute treasure. Love her.
As a Brit, I could just spend all day with Granny and hear her lovely voice. I love the way she said “over there” as “yonder”. Just beautiful. The pudding looked amazing blessings from across the pond ladies. ❤
Granny reminds me of my mother when she was her age. She died at 93 years old. I miss her, I have such good memories of her…I will be making this cake!
Granny is absolutely adorable! I can listen to her all day!
Granny is so sweet she just wanted to eat that cake. Looks delicious! ❤
😀
This video just brought me to tears. When I was in my teens I lived with my Nanny for a little while across the yard from my mom's trailer out in the country in SC. I'd help her cook, and pick up pecans from the yard and gather eggs from the chicken coop. And at night we'd sit down together in the den and watch Hee-Haw. That was her favorite show.
I miss her so so so much and this video makes me regret not spending more time with her when I was older. But I'd see her on family birthdays and holidays. And she knew I loved her just the same.
Thank you for capturing these memories with your family so some of us can remember what those good old days were like. Y'all spend time with loved ones while you can. Family is the most important gift in the world.
You are so incredibly blessed to still have Granny around. ❤
Thank you Granny. What a precious lady. I lost my granny in1972😢, how blessed you are to have her still here with you all. Thank you for sharing her knowledge with us.
Reminds me so much on my mama! A good strong Appalachian woman who loves her family and never stops doing for them!
Hearing her voice shot me right back to my Mamaw & Papaw way back when, sitting w/us on their glider facing the mountains, telling tales of exploring, playing, picking collard greens, rhubarb, of the coal mines where Papaw worked, the creeks we learned how to fish & swim in...I was blessed to have been born/raised in the Appalachian Mountains like my parents, grandparents, etc.
I miss her & back home terribly.....I'll be sure to visit here often just to hear her voice & gather some comfort dishes at the same time...win-win! Thank you & many blessings to you & yours!
When she said to "kindly" press down the pecans, I teared up and was lonesome for my grandparents. I haven't heard that turn of phrase since my Grandmom passed. Love seeing that multigenerational love and knowledge being passed around.
Your granny is so cute and I love her recipe. Watching her reminded me of my Granny making banana pudding for me. Everyone else in the family could eat banana pudding WITH bananas. My stomach couldn't process raw bananas anymore by the time I turned 15. My Granny figured out a way for me to still enjoy her banana pudding. She made me my own personal one WITHOUT the bananas so I could still enjoy her special treat with the rest of the family. ❤🎉❤ I really miss her. Give your Granny an extra hug from this viewer.
I have the best of both worlds my Noni Italian my moms side and my grandmother on my dad's from the deep south good food just really different I miss it all
@juanitaensign8100 I miss my Granny too. I really blessed to have both my Granny and Great-Granny into my adult years. I have been surrounded by love and wisdom. I am thankful.
I never had grandparents so I love to watch people with their grandparents or grandmothers showing them how to cook people don't seem to understand how precious the time is that they have with their mothers and grandmothers, take the time to learn everything you can you won't regret the time you spend but you will regret it if you don't. Take videos of them making the recipes and you can refer back to them and cherish the memories as well as the food God bless each of you
Chile....I have no idea of not growing up with mine. No words for you except there's Grandparents out there that you can adopt ❤ Lots with no relatives that would adopt you!!!
@@cathyheston3029 I am old enough to be a great- grandparent now but lost my only child when he was 16.
@@peggyevans2691 I'm so sorry for your loss....😪 Can't imagine your pain.
I never got to see one set of my grandparents, and the other set actually didn't like spending time with us as kids. If we were at their house, we played alone and were expected to be quiet. I've always been secretly jealous of people with loving grandparents. It's a wonderful thing to see!
Both of my grannies passed in 2009 & 2011 respectively. I can close my eyes & hear their laughs, & see them just as clearly as if I'd just seen them yesterday. I have been so blessed in my life. ❤
LOL Granny aint got no time to fool with ya'll, she's a enjoying that dessert. This was so cute, Granny is adorable and I bet she has a ton of good cooking tips to share. Now I gotta go get ingredients to make that for our Easter dinner. Thanks so much Tipper for letting us get to see Granny in her kitchen cooking.
LOL, I was thinking the same thing "Leave me alone and let me eat!", lol :)
This is so sweet. I wish I still had my old folks. I miss them and can't wait to see them all in heaven one day. Send Granny love!
My goodness, Your mom is precious. I just want to hug her. What a blessing she must be.
Granny, and her gloves was perfect. She's open to new ways! It's always a treat when Granny is on the scene. The cake looks delicious. Using the same bowl to cut down on cleaning was always up my Grandmom's alley as she would say. Blessings to you all. 🙏
Your granny's "delicious" at the end was so heartwarming! She made this cake with so much love for so many people and family occasions. What a doll and treasure she is!
This lady is the real deal. Thank you so much for introducing her to us!
Granny is an absolute delight! What a lovely lady. 🥰
Granny is one of the most beautiful human beings I've ever seen. Your family is truly blessed!
She’s beautiful and reminds me of my mother who is 107 years old. Mama is still at home, fortunately, but no longer cooks. She is nevertheless adept at using the microwave for a sweet potato or a “warm up” plate. She can also manage the coffee maker.
That's so wonderful your family is so blessed to still have your precious momma.💖
That is wonderful 😀
I absolutely love your precious Granny. My granny was born in 1907 & lived to be 99 yrs old & has been gone since 2006 & she too was a marvel in the kitchen. She raised eight children, crocheted, quilted, canned, & we all miss her and treasure every memory growing up. TY so much for the Holy Smoke Cake Recipe.

Sweet beyond words!!! I giggled and teared up and just wanted to give her a hug. I loved how she scrapped the goodies (with a long spoon) into the bowl/pan and patted down the crust. Then she humbly gave credit to the lady who posted recipe, deferring from herself. LOVELY. ❤
I’ve been making a dessert like this for decades and we always called it “4-layer Delight”. Delicious. 🤤
This made me smile! Cherish her and her stories all you can. This world is no longer pure as it use to be.
So true ❤
She's a gem 💎
She is just the cutest! Loved the crinkling of her gloves! You can tell she is very particular about the way she does things and why not? She has the wisdom to know! Thanks for sharing!
My friend makes this with lemon pudding. She calls it "lemon lush". It is wonderful!
Oh my goodness! Granny is precious! Her dessert looks delicious.
What a special daughter and mother. There's nothing greater than this. It's so sweet. Thank You❣️
I could watch Granny all day! She reminds me of my great grandmother so much ❤
I started watching, then started to cry! I miss cooking with my grandmother. She was born in 1905 and always cooked such wonderful dishes. Yours is such a delight! Treasure her always!

I Love seeing Granny! She is the most precious little lady and it's the sweetest thing how your face lights up when you're with her! This cake look amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I used to stand by my grandmother (my Dad’s mother) when she would cook or bake. That was in the 60s and I still remember everything! Those memories will never go away. She passed away when I was 4 years old, but I will never forget those wonderful memories 😢
I had a similar recipe but it was made with chocolate pudding. I will make your Grannies recipe soon, you are so lucky to still have her in your life. Cherish every moment with her!
Thanks for sharing her recipe with everyone!
I was admiring those beautiful handmade crochet sweaters! My great aunt taught me to crochet, so I love seeing other people's beautiful creations!
I am in love with your dear Grandmother, too! My own dear Grandmama has been gone since 1999 and I miss her every day. I use her recipes and cook with her pots and pans every day. It makes me feel closer to the dear lady I knew as "Mama."
Pure love...thank you Granny! Wished I had a taste of your special cake. God blessings to you all! 🙏💖🙋

Thank God for our Grannies!
I love that you will have this memory of her cooking with y’all. So very precious. She reminds me of my mama ❤️her hands and the way she stirred and all ❤️
The way you all honor and cherish your family and all of the special, loving traditions you have, is just so sweet and heartwarming - sadly, our society seems to lose a little bit of that priceless closeness with each passing generation.
Thank you all for keeping it alive in your family
So true. My family are like this - we live in a multigenerational home and are very close. Hoping my kids will grow up to follow in these footsteps.
Granny is so precious! Makes me think of my mother. She lived 18:55 to be 90, and was the best cook ever and so filled with the Holy Spirit!!❤️🙏
What a treasure this is. I lost my only surviving grandmother when I was 9, and I'm 60 now so I missed out on so much. Mama is gone now too, so this video hit me in the feels. Even down to the Texasware bowl that grandma used.
I didn't know there was a name for that bowl. My grandma had them too.
Texasware! Oh Yeah!!!
It's always a treat to have Granny on the channel. God bless y'all!
Thank you Doug 😀
This dear lady has cooked so long. You can tell how that by the deliberate way she gets everything just right. It looks so delicious. She's a precious woman.
I'm so proud you still have her. I learned so much watching my grandmother and my mother also. I'm 57 and my mom had me at 40. I can remember have to stand in a chair to see what my grandmother was doing and she taught me so much. Thank you for sharing this with us
You all are so blessed to have a cooking Granny! And Granny, we out here are blessed that you share with us. Thank you so much for your love and time.😊
I love your Granny and Cory sweaters. Please give Granny a big hug from me, I just lost my mom and there is nothing better than a beautiful mother that shares her love thru food. Bless her heart, she’s so precious. Thanks for sharing your family with us. I am going to try her recipe!❤
I'm so sorry you lost your mother!! I will sure give Granny a hug from you 😀
What a Blessing to have this beautiful lady in your lives. I love how she said the lady in the cookbook should be famous, not herself. So humble.
Dessert looks Holy Smoke Delicious.
I made a peanut butter cake day before yesterday that I can't take credit for either, and it was So Good! Have to give credit where credit is due.
Thank you all for sharing. God Bless you all.
Watching you all together is giving me a lot of nostalgia feeling. My grandparents and my parents have both passed on and I really miss these times. I am born and raised in East TN so this really felt like home. Granny is adorable!❤
Not only does she look like my Grandma, but the way she scraped the bowl sent me back decades! She ruled that mixer! ❤️
Granny is precious. Y’all are so fortunate to have her with y’all. Love the hints.
This would make a great cake for any occasion! Granny is such a sweetie!
I love the cool crocheted sweaters. Grannies rule!!
Granny is absolutely adorable! She seemed as if she was more intent on devouring that cake once she made it. My wife and I hope Granny will make frequent appearances on your channel. Your family is so blessed.
Granny needs to have her own cooking channel! She has a lot to teach us! She is precious!
Granny is so sweet, she wanted to make sure the lady whose recipe it was got the credit for it!
Your Mom reminds me of my Mom who passed away from Alzheimers disease in 2019!
