Jesse, just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude, and appreciation for the time you spent making this video. It was a great asset in changing out the driver side window regulator on my 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. It made the change out much easier, and go without a hitch, again thank you 😊 for the comprehensive approach to the procedures needed, and tools required. 🔧
Please accept the following suggestions, that I hope any future edited versions of this video may make.
Please consider the possibility of adding and also some clarification as to diameter, and length, and thread type of the bolts 🔩, and nuts, and washers, used to replace the rivets punched out, and or drilled out, for securing the parts in place. It would be helpful to know in advance the sizes. Yes, I understand that you say to have bolts, and nuts, but the amounts, and suggested sizes would help. Also, I think that you should urge your viewers to utilize a interior nylon washer type of metal nuts, in order to allow you to start the threads, and then to cushion the tightening of the parts safely, particularly the glass to metal parts.
A good, real hardware store should be able to stock these items.
Last but not least, I think that you should make it known that the regulator comes plain regulator only, or the more expensive regulator and motor together. This, while more expensive than just a regulator, may be a better solution, especially should you find yourself the owner of not only a bad regulator, but a door with a bad power window motor as well. Could save time, as well as the extreme frustration of having to secure an additional part, and a repetition of all the disassembly, and reassembly, especially outside in the street, or bad weather, or somewhere that doesn't have the luxury of a heated or secure garage. 🤔 Just a suggestion. Thanks again
Doctor Mercury, I hope that both you, and your brother continued enjoyment of your Panther platforms, I am sure as God made little green apples 🍏, that one of the biggest product planning mistakes, Ford has made since the Edsel, was the discontinuance of the Panther platforms. Again thanks for the video.

Jesse, thanks for the excellent video! Just finished changing out the driver's side regulator on my son's 2006 GM. Job went great and took about 2 hours. We purchased Dorman Part #741-664 from Advance Auto (got 15% off using DEC3 coupon). Below are some clarifying comments from our install that might help others.
Take pictures of everything while removing pieces, to help answer questions when reinstalling. Also, as was mentioned in the video, prying up the window switch panel should be done carefully AND from the front first, to avoid cracking the rear tab. The screw inside the door panel that Jesse didn't have was 7mm on our car, as were the (3) screws around the edges.
We used 1/4" x 1" hex bolts with lock nuts. It took ten bolts, since we didn't remove the metal bar. We did however, remove the door actuator (3 rivets) to access the front window rivet. Reviewing the video again, that may have been an unnecessary step. [NOTE: Shorter bolts (3/4") would probably suffice for all locations with the exception of the two that go into the window. However the 1" bolts did not interfere with any clearances that I can tell.]
Punching out the rivet centers takes more force than I expected, probably because the door panel flexes when struck. Used the 3/8" bit to drill out the rivets and that worked very well - just take your time to let the drill bit "eat through" the rivet. If the rivet starts spinning, hold it in place with a screwdriver. The plastic (buffer) piece on the window will fall off, so be sure to reinsert before putting those bolts in place. Note which way they are oriented before removing the rivets, because they do have a unique front and back side.
Our moisture shield was in bad shape (cracking) so we sealed with aluminum duct tape.
Note that the door actuator rod MUST BE on the inside side of the new actuator assembly before installing the new bolts. We had everything together, then had to partially disassemble the bottom to swap the rod around.

Was able to fix it G. The folks I bought this from hit a deer and it looks like this had already been replaced because the rivets were already popped. One of the motor mount bolts snapped and the motor kept moving in front of the regulator.
Might want to add an edit about what size bolts/nuts to use. I'll add an edit to this post, I just had it pulled up And already forgot
      Edit: 1/4" - 20 5/8" round head
      1/4" - 20 nylon lock nuts
1/4" x 1 1/4" fender washer. Hope this helps someone else

Thank You Jesse. I too have a 2004 Merc. Grand Marquis with window problems. The Passenger rear door window quit going up and down, so I had to metal tape it up. Then today, the Passenger front door window won't go up and down. I Tried to get the door passenger front door panel off, but think there is one more screw under where the door switch panel is located, as I haven't taken off the switch panel yet, so I'll have to see to that, as it think it's the problem with one more screw holding it on. Thanks for the Video, Great Job. I love this old car, but I'm getting too old to do this anymore. And I know what it's going to cost me if I have to take it to a Shop.

My guy I'm going absolutely insane here. My motor was fine, replaced the regulator and the window goes up and down three times and then gets stuck down. If I remove the motor and reinstall it it does the exact same thing. The motor tested dead. I returned it. After multiple attempts to get a refund, they gave me only a little over 50% back. I will never buy a Dorman so-called product again. By at your own risk, because they sure don't have any.

My mom has an 06 Grand monkey and within the last three years I'd say all her window motors have went out. She likes to go down to Tires Plus because she has credit with them. So we went down there and they replaced a couple of the window motors and regulators for the two back windows passenger driver . Then the passenger front windows start giving us trouble so they replaced it and then in 6 months it gave us trouble again so we went back at no charge and they replaced it again. Somewhere in there the driver front window went bad so we replace it. So the other night the front driver window wouldn't go up again same scenario as 3 years ago sitting in Walmart parking lot at night after grocery shopping went to put all the window down. Because it was a nice night, it was cool in Florida for the last two nights and I went to roll the window back up and it start acting stupid. So I was playing with it and it wouldn't go up .Come to find out that on the regulator by the motor where the two springs are, on the one side the plastic broke and causes the spring to come out so it put a bind on the cable. So I thought screw that I'm not taking it the Tires Plus again I'll try to fix it myself so I went down the street to advance and spent 80 bucks and got a new motor regulator and I got on TH-cam and found your video I very much appreciate you and your brother too I'm glad he doesn't have to hurt his hand on that door anymore thanks to you. I had a good time working on the door though it was kind of a fun project it's always nice to star following somebody that knows what they're doing on a video and then come to an end and have the result you wanted a finished job and a window that works. I didn't have to drill too many rivets the only rivets that were there was the ones that were holding in the motor and I don't know why those guys down at Tires Plus just didn't use bolts on those, they did on every other rivet they just put bolts in instead which was nice. I just want to let you know I appreciate you making the video and trying to keep it simple and going step by step thank you.

You forgot to put everything back together. I guess your brother is driving around with no door panel and the switches hanging from the wires.

Appreciate the video, but this is why I hate modern cars with power everything. My power window just died on my 2000 Grand Marquis, and I know for a fact that window was rarely used. No reason for a motor to die on a new car like that.
