- Nostradams foretold that the earth would come to an end in 1999. Some unforeseen disaster might occur in 1982 when most of the planets in space would line crosswise. What would the twenty-first century be like after passing through these years ? At the end of the twentieth century, a bunch of young men give up living on the finite earth and fly up to the infinite space. They find a second earth. The second generation born of them are the heroes of this story.

God Sigma is the first Super Robo anime that I watched when i was 7 years old and that was 40 years ago :)

First time watching this ever. Very trope heavy. I like it. This is prime Netflix anime remake material.
My only problem with it is that the portrayal of the main female character hasn't aged well at all, at least in this first episode.
Wow, some BGMs are recognizable. Toei does recycle them in its Super Robot shows.
They finally created anti-radiation shield so that humans can live on IO shielded from the fatal radiation from Jupiter!

The effects in this show seem doable in reality with practical effects only. Model jets on strings and the strings are on a bicycle wheel, the wheel is on a stick, the stick is mounted to the ground and there's a string connecting a small steering wheel on the mounting bracket to the bicycle wheel that the jets are mounted to. Rearrange the jets for unique flying formations, stick a firecracker on the jets and set different fuse lengths. Set the camera on its side so the kids look for the strings in the wrong place and think "oh wow, is that real?"

If I'm going to be honest with myself; I have never seen an episode of God Sigma before since I only saw the opening, but, man, watching the first episode of God Sigma for my first time was really exciting! This Anime Mecha series DEFINATLY deserves an academy award for it's amazing storyline, characters and action 🤩😏🤟😎🤘😉👍

Growing up in the UK in the 80s/90s, anime wasn't really a thing yet. This series, I watched it on VHS with Cantonese dubbing (family from Hong Kong). I really wished back then I could've got the toys. They're insanely expensive to get these days

I used to have the toys, way back then. The three robots that could move independently, and then transformed into God Sigma, with the mechanism exactly like in the film. I originally wanted the Voltus one, but my dad couldn't buy it.

@@Raximus3000 Yeah, I did notice that...eventually. The first time though, I was merely referring to the Opening sequence being similar to the GoLion's opening, plus the transformation sequence. Also, the theme song seem to sound like a combination of Golion & Diarugger (XV) 15's opening theme.
