  • These Chinese piston kits don't work with these older engines which is why this rebuild didn't resolve my low compression issues. This video created by JE Vintage Hondas Mini Restorations will explain why these kits don't work for the older bikes. • DON'T buy those cheap ...
Follow me as I rebuild my rundown CT70. I'm currently not too worried about its appearance so its going to be a bit of a Frankenstein build. My main goal is making it dependable and possibly road worthy. There's a lot of work to do!
In this episode, I replace the cylinder, piston, rings, front forks and front light. Look for part 2 where I rebuild the carb, adjust the valves, replace the fenders, tail light and take it for a test ride.

Thanks this is a great video. I just got 5 Honda CT 70s over Christmas for my kids and am learning by watching others restore theirs. Very helpful to watch you disassemble the bike. I am less intimidated to try it now.

Thanks! They’re really easy and addictive to work on. I originally started with the intention of making it rideable and now find myself working towards a full resto. Just can’t beat the price of parts and value in the bike. If I can rebuild one anyone can :)

Good information you're putting out bud! I like your video! But in my opinion I wouldn't use simple green cleaner anymore! Using an ultrasonic cleaner will get that part really nicely cleaned but you got to use the right parts cleaner, use berryman's carburetor cleaner that comes in a bucket at any automotive parts store, a little pricey but well worth it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a shot next time!

Where can I find one like this that’s cheap?

It’s not easy. Folks scoop them up quickly. I picked this one up on OfferUp. I got lucky because someone cancelled and the owner took who called/messaged next.
