Oh Dude! My cousins & I had Honda CT70H's (4-speed manual clutch) back in the early '70's, and we always could get them to go about 50 mph. Through the mini bike trails (when they had them) at Lee Hall Campground in Virginia, we would ride through the woods and fields at break-neck speeds. Down the hills we hit nearly 55 mph.
The Honda Trail 70 was, and still is to this day, the BEST Mini Trail bike ever made.

Me too, only a few months ago and just rode again today.
My family had four of the ct 70s when I was kid, took them camping in west Virginia mid to late seventies. 35 to 40 mph about normal,amazing dependability and absolute blast!
in 1980 i had a Ct 70 & my buddy had a KV75 ... After riding his KV i felt cheated ... That dang Kawa was fast !
I love your street. Too much fun, a dad and his son! True story, I was riding my CT90 down a busy road, in shorts and flip flops like your son. And rode past my mom. She wasn't amused at my riding gear.
The 2-strokes were tons of fun, and quick! I have a vintage Honda MB5 (2-stroke, 50cc, 5-speed manual) that hits 53 MPH stock! Amazing for a 50! Too bad they don't make many quality small displacement bikes anymore, for export to the U.S.
1982 MB5 was the best thing ever made for kids that were comfortable with a clutch!!!
I had a kv75 when I was a kid loved it absolutely loved it he didn't have a clutch you just ran right through the gears it was so easy to learn on
That KV75 was bogging out....
The CT70 aka Honda Trail 70 will always be the King in my book
How do u think aboit the chineese version 125cc??? What can i add to it to mk it faster and run better. I know i can get a honda sticker from the 70's on ebay.

Lots of people go with the Lifan 125s.
The bike that would be in the middle would be the Honda 50. Much nicer than the ct70 because they put the gas tank where it normally should be instead of under the seat. Honda made beautifully crafted bikes back then.

The ct70 is much more reliable and collectible but is it faster? The kawi being a 2 stroke should be faster
I got a reading of 28.5 mph on my KV 75, so 27 isn't far off.

2vintage when I was a boy my foot slipped and hit the ground when I was riding it took off all my toes
After 23 years I purchased mine back and was able to get it running over the weekend. Did you bypass the oiler and run premix?
No I am using the oil pump. Seems to be working great!

my sister & i used to ride the honda 70 on the roads sometimes, i got it up to 40mph, otherwise i couldn't have ridden it there, my dad used to ride it to work sometimes, we had a lot of fun on it! ty for the video. Did you ever try putting seafoam in the tank of the 75? it helps clean out the engine, carb & points, lots of people winterize their bikes like that....happy trails!
A 2 stroke 75 is obviously faster than a 4 stroke 70

I can't tell you how many miles I put on my kv75. If it wasn't raining I was on that all around my neighborhood. My first bike. I was like 12 and I didn't know I was supposed to put 2stroke oil in it. I rode that for like 3 years with straight gas. Ran like a champ for the whole time.
can't wait to get out on the bike,we just had more snow (Nova scotia) my buddy has a 09 yzf 250 race ready all I have done is k&n filter and boyesen reeds,he wants to race,I think he will win

I heard they are!! this is my first 2 stroke, me and my dad just rebuilt the top end then we started it, it ran then the Kickstart locked up
Well at least it's not too difficult to rebuild the top end! Hopefully you get it running right!

My 82 or 83 ct 70 would do 42-43 usually. My z50 would do 39-40 with proper gearing. The 50 wasn't street legal though.
So i found a suzuki rm 125 for $150, seller says it needs engine work and is missing a few things. If i were to replace engine completely is that all id need to do? (Besides plastics and seat)
What year is the rm? And yeah I would just replace the whole engine if you have one at your disposal. That should take care of all problems.
Id basically be buying it for the frame and wheels, what would i need.
+Southern Hooligans if it is only the frame and wheels than you will need a cdi box coil, and airbox along with the motor.

Arent you suppose to use the clutch if the bike is a manual at 2:37 you shifted into first gear without pulling in the clutch. Wtf?

I had a friend who had a s90 street bike and we would take it on the trails and we'd do better than 50 with me and him both on it.

I rode a friends ct70 and I was doing about 45 gaining and I had to slow down because I was on the trails. It was a 4 speed with a manual clutch

I got it running and it ran for about 4 days of me starting it everyday and the Kickstart locked up I think it's one of the Kickstart gears but I don't know

i bought one of these for 115.00 in the 90s and rode it for 10 years until i got paralyzed
If both bikes were in prefect running condition and both riders weighed the same the KV 75 would be quicker.....hands down. Also I have two MT1's,2 KV's and a CT70.
Why didn't you trade bikes, I would think weight has something to do with it.

That Ct70 needs tuned but a 75 2 stroke should smoke it no matter what.
The KV75 was fast and should had been faster. But it was unreliable, weak gearbox and the brakes were horrible. But it was tons of fun and had a little bit of a power band when running right.
Fix the exhaust leaks on the Honda trail and you will do 50.

Dude weight makes all the difference in the world on those little bikes. 40 pounds is alot!! Typically the kawasaki will smoke it.
