Really good video. I have the same Eakins scope but I have the articulating gas strut arm mounted to the wall. I've had mine for just over 18 months now and use it all day every working day. If it broke tomorrow I'd buy another hands down.
Hi is it normal to have totally different views, between the camera and what you see through the eyecups of the microscope. I want to be able to record repair videos, but there is such a great difference between views, that if I use the microscope view, the recorded view is nowhere near to the repair site. I have set the focus so both microscope and camera are in focus at the same time. I dont know if I'm doing something wrong, I've tried matching the Barlow lenses, but nothing seems to make any difference, any help would be much appreciated, regards Andy

Thank you for a great review. My only concern with this microscope is if it is wobbly during work because of the single arm boom and stand pipe. I need a microscope for my computer repair shop. I will not be working using microscope more than a few times a week.
I have the same microscope. The shaking/wobbling comes from the weak base plate, I replaced the original base plate with a 6mm steel plate from my local dealer. Now the microscope is perfectly stable! There are also much more stable microscope stands in the Eakins Aliexpress Store, but the shipping costs for those more stable stands are very high, due to the increased weight. The arm/pipes/joins of the microscope stand are very stable, it is only the thin and light metal of the base plate that leads to this wobbling...
@@michaeltempsch5282 Yes, securing it to the bench works well. I had the same stand for my inspection camera rig and I just used an Irwin Quick-Grip clamp to clamp it down to the side of the bench. No more wobble. The other option is permanent mounting and eliminating the base altogether.

I bought exactly the same from Eakins (head only, I have a stand) two weeks ago and it just arrived today. The view is excellent! The only drawback is that the Eyepiece Cover Guards are little short for my eyes... Now I'm looking for a camera. The question is 0.35X or 0.5X adapter? Hi, at one year from the line since you got your Microscope, may you share how are doing with it, I need one to start repairing cellphones. May you share. Eakins has good prices on ALI.
The 90x version comes with an additional 2x lens which screws into the bottom. I've never used it as it's too much for electronics work. I never go further than 22.5x
You can find all the information for that on the HMRC site, it’s not too difficult to calculate, remember to lookup the current $ to £ rate from HMRC too. www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty www.gov.uk/government/publications/hmrc-exchange-rates-for-2019-monthly
Great video ! Quick question what is the approximate distance from the centre of the objective lens to the eye cups ? (i.e. the distance the user can be sat back from the item being viewed). The reason I am asking is from an ergonomics perspective and avoiding having to lean forward or bend the neck
I know this is old, but having a bad neck injury myself, and having spent several years staring into this scope (the "identical" AmScope) - thought I could chip in. I'm not near the microscope atm so I can't give explicit measurements. But for me, the angle on the scope/ports themselves are ok. But the trick to reasonable ergonomics while working through this scope, in my experience, is not in the scope itself. But rather, having it on a motorized adjustable "standing desk". This enables reasonable back and neck posture, without hunching. Your arms come up a little bit more, but if you're doing soldering, especially microsoldering, then you _really_ should be resting your whole forearm from elbow to the side of your palms, on the table anyway; the only things moving to navigate the soldering iron/hot air handle/tweezers, being your fingers. Doing this so the larger muscles in your arms and shoulders are at rest, preventing the small tremors and twitches of those large muscles when under tension, from traveling down your arms and attenuating at your fingertips. For more ideal ergonomics, thinking in longer terms, switching to a good quality C-mount camera microscope and a low latency monitor (if splurging then 120 or 144 hz camera and monitor), is the way to go. Quality lighting is better and cheaper, working room under the scope is much better this way too. Lower weight too, so if you want an articulated arm to easily adjust and move away the scope when not in use, that is tight and stable so the image don't shake - those get cheaper too. Live video feed through USB is useless for working, but over HDMI (or DisplayPort) there's no noticable input lag with computer monitors. There may be more, noticable delay if viewed on a TV (because of image processing), at least one without a good game mode setting. So while dirt cheap 42-48" IPS 4k TVs may be great for schematics, instructions, static images etc - those are not so good for live, working microscope feeds. But there is a significant learning curve though, adapting to different eye-hand coordination and the lack of stereoscopic depth perception. But if you _do_ choose to take it on though, you'll frankly never need worry about the ergonomics of working under the microscope again.
I have quite a tall workbench so that I can work from a high stool or standing. I'm curious to know what the height of the eyepieces is above the work surface when you use the 0.5x Barlow. Thanks.
I have the same microscope. I bought a x0.3 barlow lense to get a higher working distance and a straighter seat position. My microscope has an diopter adjustment range of +/- 5dp, depending on the diopter setting, the working distance is between 200mm to 305mm. My eyes have around -6 dioptres and I work always without my glasses. Without glasses I have a working distance between 135mm to 225mm. I use the microscope diopter adjustment to compensated the ~0,75 difference between my eyes and the remaining adjustment possibility to get a comfortable working height. The end of the eyepieces is about ~265mm above the bottom of the barlow lense, it depends of the barlow lense, the x0.5 is a little bit lower than the x0.3 lens.

I replaced the original base plate with a 6x350x400mm steel plate, which I bought from a local dealer. But at the same time we're still hesitant or feel there's too little time to set up a blog/TH-cam channel of our own.
Was my instinct correct? :)
This is going for £215(incl shipping) on AliExpress?? Is it worth getting for this price or just get the amscope se400z?
There's no real difference, so go with whichever suits your budget.
Left side of image is out of focus at higher magnifications.
The microscope was just on a slight tilt which I neglected to adjust.
Information ke ley thank you so much

Thanks for the various recent articles!
Having reviewed several cameras now, with various pros and cons. Which camera did you finally settle on as best for use on the amscope745 ?
Never mind I've made a choice!
Something with a Sony IMX290 or IMX185 or similar is most likely the best choice as it has great low light performance. If that is not a concern, they all seem to work pretty well.
@@sdgelectronics I bought the same microscope (with the boom stand) but using the 0,5 barlow lens with the 0,35 or 0,5 lens (the same you suggested) on the camera I'm not able to focus with both camera and microsope. The zoom is the same but if I get the focus e.g. with the microscope the camera is not on focus and viceversa. Is there some camera adapter you can suggest to consider to get focus on both camera and miscroscope at the same time?
@@digant1973 I have same problem with 0.5 lens ... did you find solution which camera adapter is good ? Iam bought CTV 0.35X focus adjustable C mount adapter .. but dont have same vision on camera and microscope
@@jaaa1976 No, I didn't find any solution. With a 0.35X lens on camera I got (almost) the same zoom with the miscroscpe (mounting a 0,5X Barlow lens). Probably the solution is to use a better camera that allows to adjust the focus (e.g. something with a Sony IMX290). My camera is it.aliexpress.com/item/4000075178237.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.1ec64c4dME48pA.
which scope is your daily driver?
I normally use the Amscope, mainly because it got prime position first!
I'm considering buying this microscope. Does anyone know what's the quality difference between this head www.aliexpress.com/item/32982404262.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.62ba3e5fclwKQ0 and this head www.aliexpress.com/item/4000199456041.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.35.5f035674sY4qCx (which is probably the one being reviewed in this video)?
The black one has a few tweaks to stop dust getting into the optics
Looks terrible. Wobbly. Did they pay you to do this?
Cheap plastic and plastic lenses
I have the same microscope. The wobbling is related to the thin aluminium base plate, the top of the plate is only ~1.7mm thick. The arm/pipes/joins of the microscope stand are very stable. I replaced the original base plate with a 6x350x400mm steel plate, which I bought from a local dealer. The Eakins Aliexpress store has more stable stands, but these are quite heavy and the shipping costs to my country were about ~170EUR. It is way cheaper to buy this microscope set and order a heavy base plate locally.
@@microfix6035 nope, the lenses are not made out of plastic. In my work we have Leica and Kern&Sohn microscopes, the Leica has a better edge definition. But a Leica costs at least 10 times as much. The Eakins and Kern&Sohn are comparable - in my opinion. But I am no expert, only a user.
Okay I also use LEICA A60 microscope check my videos if you have time.
It is 100% copy. Now the question is: Our Amscope are original Amscope or fake cinese copy? Thanks for video.
Neither nor. Amscope sources in China, too. Actually Amscope is just a brand of "United Scope LLC" which imports stuff from china
@@FuchsHorst Thank you.
Amscope use better materials and better inspection list
@lordhaven111 AmScope is just a sticker. I found ones without AmScope on it.
@@Erolanya There are actually differences, the Amscope has the dioptric adjustment in the eye pieces and I notices some of the cheaper models use cheaper screws.
