This is my daily go-to bourbon. It's the best of the cheap bourbons as far as I'm concerned. Straight or on the rocks. I like several of the Beam offerings, {including the white label and Double Oak) and Maker's Mark and generally keep at least one of those on hand. But, after the first drink I revert to Benchmark for the remainder of the evening.
Apart from that, this is by far the best cocktail bourbon I’ve come across. It’s not great in spirit forward drinks like an Old Fashioned (you want your top shelf stuff for that) but it’s fantastic for a whiskey sour or a mint julep.
Nice find. The cost difference alone vastly outweighs the slight difference in taste compared to the more expensive brands. I'll be on the lookout for this one.
I can sip Benchmark straight; in fact, adding water makes it too tame. Haven't tried mixing it. When I can afford better, I might well go elsewhere. When I can't, this is perfectly fine.
Your description of "It's not bad at all. " is an excellent way to sum this Bourbon up. If is a great bourbon thai is inexpensive and readily available.
Is it similar to Evan Williams? I always see this and Ezra on either side of Evans. Evan Williams and root beer is my go too. I know, I know but trust me, it’s the best.
Hell yeah! For one dollar more black label Evan Williams is much better. I've done blind taste tests on Bourbon/neat, I could identify immediately Benchmark over any other Bourbon from its "finish" (aftertaste). This is the Bourbon you use if your making Old Fashions or Manhattans. Actually, I'd spend the extra dollar for Black Label Evan Williams even if I knew I wasn't going to drink it neat. The Benchmark I drank neat had a distinctive "chemically" aftertaste. Maybe at such a low a price there is variability between bottles.? Or...you like that "finish", all I know I was able to identify Benchmark from my first sip and swallow before I got to my other 2 Bourbons.
And this absolutely have a lot of money to go spend on buying something I really want this is my go to bottle I went out on a limb one day because I watched this review and seeing it at my liquor store and grabbed it and this is my opinion better than Jack or Jim I like it
So what you're saying is, 8 times and mouthed out once, that "It's really not bad at all?" Lol Based on this review, I picked some up tonight since I figured it'd be good to try as my first bourbon. It's not too rough, pretty smooth in fact and a bit of heat that I'm not used to, but after the initial taste, isn't unbearable. I think it is well good. And can't beat that price point, thought it was $11 where I found it. Thanks for the recommendation.
I'm liking this right now. Balanced, hints of spice, warming. I'm looking forward to adding this to coke or even my coffee in the future to see how it works. Buffalo trace rules.. This rivals bottles that are $21.99 easily..
You must not know bourbon very well. It's a super popular value bourbon, they just released a special series for benchmark that was so popular that it sold out in minutes. It's also made by buffalo trace, which generally is going to make quality bourbon.
Not an expert, but I know what I like. I literally could not drink it due to a strong chemical taste, and a nose of pure ethanol mixed with over-ripe oranges.
All jokes aside I do enjoy a lot beam products, I just feel like buffalo trace does a better job in general with their products. You also have to understand that beam is almost twice the price as benchmark... We have always been strong advocates for benchmark on the show because there are very few sub 10 dollar bottles that are even close to the quality of benchmark. cheers and finally drink what you like, and don't forget to try new things along the way! KBR
@@kybrewreview I do love JB black, but my new favorite bottom shelfer is Virgin 101. I would pay triple the price for that. Not harsh at all, and everything I love in a sour mash bourbon. I wanted to like the Benchmark, it's just not my thing.
why would you ruin bourbon with that nasty ass pepsi??? Neat is the only way...just saying! Thanks for the review...i just bought some and Ive never had it before..
As we have said literally 1000s of times, some people like their bourbon mixed and some people like it straight, that's why we give a review with both.
Its cheap, its strong, goes great with COLA and you can share with fellow drinkers.. on a picnic or fishing trrip..

Chris M it's been a long time since I have been this surprised. Everyone should know about benchmark.

This was my go to in college. It is great with some ginger ale
Really interesting coming back to this a year later after Radar praises it so much lol. Need to find a bottle myself.
It really is probably is the best bourbon under 15 bucks for sure.
Your description of "It's not bad at all. " is an excellent way to sum this Bourbon up. If is a great bourbon thai is inexpensive and readily available.
Got my first bottle not too long ago and thought it was pretty rough lol.
Still think it beats any bourbon an it's price range.
Yeah that’s true, prob gonna use it as a mixer as y’all suggested
I was on the Evan Williams bandwagon for a while, but switched to Benchmark BECAUSE of Kybrewreview!
Hey both are solid but i would give the edge to benchmark.
3 year old whiskey for 10 bucks in my area. I was surprised that it wasn’t bad tasting at all too.
It's great for what it is, as long as you are not expecting it to be an 8 dollar Woodford lol.
Apricot and cherry
Nice find. Not bad, If I was on a budget. I would definitely consider this. My rating is about the same. Thanks guys. Pleasure drinking with you!
can you guys review bacardi superior white rum?
I will add it to the list!
Great bourbon at an excellent price!! $7.99 in Houston area. I like ginger ale with my bourbon.
CoLdSiNcE92 ginger ail and bourbon is a fantastic choice.
Is it similar to Evan Williams? I always see this and Ezra on either side of Evans. Evan Williams and root beer is my go too. I know, I know but trust me, it’s the best.
It's similar, we will have to do a head to head to find out which is better.
I think Benchmark is better. It's sweeter and it has a little bit cherry aroma in taste.
I like the stuff. Its just a young bourbon. Great mixer or in a flask.
bardechh I was thinking the same. I could see myself drinking it out of a flask.
Its my go to as well. Cant beat the price. I love Evan Williams green label, but cant get it where I live anymore.
$13.-- odd right now.
It's still 10.99 around us.
I think it's a good one.
You guys should try tom sims taste better and its for the same price.
Don't think I have seen it around.
head to head with evan williams black label would be cool thats my go to bargain bourbon the bottled in bond is even better
Sounds like a good idea it will probably happen soon!

I found the stuff I honestly like it better than Jack Daniels it's really really smooth

where are you people buy this for 8.00 dollars for? it's 17 to 18 for me.
Liquor barn/ total wine/ bevmo.etc
For 8bucks it is what it is. Nice review guys.

Great Video!! 😬👌

Yup for sure.
@@kybrewreview ✌️😏 Cool! i will pick up a few bottles for the holidays then, thanks! 🦃😍🎅🎉

Great Review!! Enjoyed
Taste like low grade kerosene to me, and I like budget bourbons

too expensive for me
I sense sarcasm lol.
PLASTIC all the way. Except when enjoying the cheapest of Bourbons. Yeah heah.
Sounds like it’s the “benchmark” of cheap whiskey lol.
cdawson198600 I think I would give it that distinction.
Ive tried this before and dont like it, it tasted sour.
Well it is a KENTUCKY SOUR MASH
oh you poor baby go back to drinking wine coolers you little girl.
best bourbon to me so I win lol cheap
Not bad at all, it's very good.
