But I might be wrong and it might be something else.

But the giant structure at the end is most certainly the cymbal weapon that a formidable monster used to capture the monkey king. The fake Maitreya buddha at the end of this video hints that. According to the clues currently available, this story should have happened after the journey, but it is clear that the ending of the journey is not good. Jounery to the West on which the game is based, is a story featuring a group of four main characters, which includes Tang Seng, Wukong, Bajie, Sha Seng, travelling to India to fetch scriptures of buddhism back to Tang Dynasty of China and they had to overcome 81 adversities (mostly about confronting monsters or demons) on the journey as per the decree by the Buddha or the Heaven to achieve their goal. and here comes a theory about this game that the story is probably about a parallel universe where the real Wukong had accomplished his destined mission of safeguarding the team to the west years ago, while the main character, who looks exactly the same like Wukong and whom players will play, is probably in the next cycle, and players will encounter the real Wukong at some point in the game as those who accomplished their fate in pervious cycles may become the enemies of the next destined one in the next cycle. It could be such an endless cruel world.
