The scene in the hallway with Bloberta sobbing is so powerful to me. It's the only time in the series where we see her break down like this. She won't cry in front of Orel, she can't show weakness to her son. But when she sees Clay, she immediately changes. She won't let him see her cry. She's trapped in a loveless marriage with him, but she's too proud to cry in front of him. They've made their beds, now they're sleeping in them.
I think it's interesting how Bloberta quickly looked back at Doctor Potterswheel at 0:18 when she heard him ask about who shot Orel. And the fact that she was looking at the poster for what you should be feeding your children (even tho it's actually unhealthy) and made sure she was feeding Orel according to the sign to help him during his recovery.
idk if this matters or not but in the song when it says "and i hope you blink before i do" bloberta actually does blink before clay when they are on their separate beds (1:47)
Yeah, the only indicator is that they blink, it feels right. Like, the actual movement in the show is very active and expressive. So seeing them sit still, only blinking, feels so impactful and jarring; like Bloberta's long quiet scenes in the Christmas episode, just sitting on the bed, and shedding a single tear for herself.
It's attention to detail, and the ramshackle art style I think. It all fits together because it was basically a low budget Adult Swim show at first, before they got to flex in the second season.
It's just the way Bloberta knows she is trapped with Clay, no one loves her, she can't feel anything good, and now Clay has poisoned the one positive thing in her life.
I was watching this episode and not even paying attention to the music (english is not my native language, so often music just stays on background and do not bring my attention), but then, when it started "I'm drowning" out of nowhere and then continues to "I hope you die" while they where together, I yelled out loud to my boyfriend watching with me how AMAZING this song is I paused the episode and said "THIS SONG IS GODDAMN TOO GOOD" (I don't know how to properly translate to English, I'm sorry) So I stopped everything and went on a journey to find the music on yt (which was pretty easy) and later, I listened to this countless times, the first night I didn't sleept, I cried until morning, I was devastated thinking about a lot of things (none of them have anything to do with my bf) A few days later I get over it and started listening to work. I put an 1 hour version and listen until it ends so I started it again I think I might have a problem
First time I ever heard this song was watching this. Only two shows have used this song absolutely perfectly. “Moral Orel” and the series finale of “you’re the worst” perfectly illustrates where the characters and their relationship are at.

She was not any better than Clay. You gotta break out of the "man bad, woman good" programming.
Doesn't she also cry in S1E10 alone in her room?
@@SéaFid Spare us your MRA fuckery, douchebag.
"and i hope i never get sober" as clay looks down at his drink, god its so good. I love the mountain goats
What would a jojo villians mountain goats stand be
@neilsiegman3270 spent gladiator 1/2 maybe idk

i always thought that was her hoping maybe it was clay who got shot...
@@corpsehandler5321I heard from another comment on one video that she apparently looked away when the doctor implied that Clay shot Orel.
“Hand in unlovable hand” is such a power line to me. God I love this show

Zooms out on two broken adults... Looking more like lifeless dolls then they ever have before... :(

It’s amazing to me how much emotion this show can get with puppets

She have no one to blame but herself. I mean, Bloberta not a very good person.
Clay was better before bloberta

The very last shot is genius-- the medium became the message

Sometimes a depressing song is just too damn catchy, and the lyrics hit a feeling you didn't know you could even have for clay puppets.
thank you, this was the moment i always remember when someone brings up this show

This show I hope one day is able to be finished it was taken too soon.
Think this is my favorite depiction of crying in any media ever
i cry and pee
Me too
me when i drink
relatable
And now I've been listening to the mountain goats for like 20 years
You know Clay plays this song on the jukebox every night before leaving the bar
I had a very similar home life to Orel when I was small
I hope youre doing better now🫂
You got me I honestly thought this was real
For all her faults she wast wrong clay didn’t change when he drank
