    Thank you for doing all of this. I was just told yesterday by my gastro to try a FODMAP diet and was low key panicking this morning because I’m also vegan and already having to avoid gluten - and looking at the list of foods I can’t eat was panicking inducing “WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO EAT??” So not only are you vegan and FODMAP but you are making delicious looking things. So I’m not nearly as anxiety ridden. Thank you thank you thank you. I look forward to going through all your videos ❤️❤️❤️

      Awww, so glad I could help!! You've got to keep looking at the lists of the foods you CAN eat and not the ones you can't. Gluten-free isn't much more of an addition to lowFODMAP so don't worry, you can do this! and it's so worth it when you start to feel better ☺️ xxx

    I investigated the low FODMAP diet years ago. Then I followed the Medical Medium and tried to eat raw for about 4 years. I was not seeing the results I wanted by then - my numbers like glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure - those got better. My skin got better. But it did not feel like 5 years worth of progress.
    Then we went vegan late November and my land! That stressed us out so bad by now that we had a casserole this week. You are such a doll to share so much help, I can't thank you enough.

      I'm so glad I could help you feel a bit better about this diet Rebekah ☺️ Once you've trawled through the Monash app you'll see we do actually have quite a lot of options, we just need to be a bit more creative... I think I still manage to eat more variety than my meat-eating IBS-free friends 😎 haha

      @@CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject Sort of. I am a college student right now (Dietetics) so I eat a primarily starch-based vegan (McDougall) diet because it is more affordable. WFPB SOS. Salt oil and sugar free. Sometimes a little sugar, but no oil. I have discovered that grapes are not well tolerated by most possibly because of their high fructose content. Possibly other concentrated fruits like dates, and especially prunes.

    • @JD-59
      @JD-59 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject If you can't tolerate protein plants, then you should checkout Dr. McDougall’s lecture on protein. In sum, protein is nearly impossible to be deficient in. Makes it easy.

    New to Fodmap and used to eating spicy foods - really hating the food I am now eating now as it is so bland in comparison.
    I have recipe books. I try all herbs and garlic oil and anything else that is allowed to make food interesting, there really isn't a low fodmap version of carribean cuisine, which is my preferred cuisine.
    Some things that are 'safe' trigger me. I eat more or less the same meals daily to avoid pain and have balance, eating is a chore. I drink brown rice protein to make sure I am not deficient and take vit D and Iron.
    I'm glad I have nice food memories. Eating small portions throughout the day isn't practical for me either. Now food is boring to me and I can easily not bother with it at all. I eat about 4 times a day if I can be bothered. I go to bed feeling hungry which is better than pain.

      I think I know what you mean. I used to eat more like "two really big meals per day and some small snacks" but now I aim to eat 4-5, nutritious, but obviously smaller meals and my digestion is just so much happier that way. It's taken some getting used to though!

  • @Juniperginnyberry

    Was this video made after the elimination process and after you've started reintroducing certain foods in? I'm looking at the Monash app and when i type potato, white potato green is 75g or half a cup, so yesterday I took the smallest potato i had, baked it and cut it in half and had one had yesterday and one half today. it was literally three bites. I'm just wondering if this was made after you had done your elimination process or if I dont understand something. I'm on day 3 of the elimination process.

    • @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject
      @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jenni. Good question, and highlights something I really dislike about the monash app. Firstly, this videos is several years old now so monash have updated the serving information - it used to say eat freely. Secondly, the app says up to 500g is low FODMAP in the blurb but presents 75g or 1/2 cup as a serving, which is, as you've nicely pointed out, a ridiculous portion for a small child let alone an adult. I'm going to stsrt making videos again soon and it's something I want to discuss more because it makes the low FODMAP diet completely impractical and unhealthy to present such tiny portions.

    In terms of vitamins, what brand of B12 do you take? I need to take vitamin D too as I'm bed bound. I know that not all are low fodmap and I have no idea where to start. I'm actually finding the low fodmap diet fairly easy to eat with, I haven't eaten garlic or onion for a long time anyway and I've been meal planning with Mum for years. But it's still not easy, especially when my dietician is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot, so thank you :) x

    • @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject
      @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Laura, I didn't realise there were polyols in my B12 at first, so then I switched to the tablet ones at Holland & Barrets without wheat in them. Now I know I'm okay with polyols I occasionally use the liquid drop one because it tastes nice haha. I've had a look for VitD but it's quite hard to find a vegan one, I think D2 is the vegan version but I couldn't say I've used one personally.
      I'm sorry to hear you're bed-bound at the moment, I hope you're getting lots of visits from friends. Also, this is the first time I've seen the expression "as helpful as a chocolate teapot" which made me chuckle 😅 Hope this helps xx

      Hi, I'm from Maine in the US. I have been vegan gluten free for almost a year now, due to health and gut issues. I love all your videos, so informative, thank you! I found a vegan non-gmo vitamin supplement capsules on Amazon that has B6, B12, Vit D3, Folate and Magnesium. It works great for us. Thought I'd share with everyone. I am just now needing to start the low fodmap elimination to figure out what is still bothering me (I believe I have IBS)! Also what kind of Probiotic Prebiotic would you recommend? I was told I should take this, along with the daily psyllium husk capsules I already take. Thank you again for all your insights

    Isn’t 1/2 cup canned lentils ok? :)

    • @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject
      @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is one the things that's really difficult with the monash app. It says you can have 46g or 1/2 cup of canned lentils, but 1/2cup weigh waaaay more than 46g! And actually 1/4 cup is about 46g, so I opted for the more precise/cautious grams options
