    The "dance with the pitcher" tips are great - could you maybe do a side-by-side video of this showing a pitcher and a hitter and how they are coordinated like this? Might help kids to see it visually. Thanks!

      Also I use a leg kick but I know my timing needs to be sooner and I stay back so I don’t lunge forward, it keeps me in a athletic position to be in the best spot possible for when the ball comes in. I’m very comfortable at the plate now more than I have ever been.

    Coach could you do a video on pitchers being consistantly inconsistent! To help get the pitchers mentality on reading batters along with the catcher. I used this technique when I was in little league so we wouldn't burn out pitchers. Weak hitters get strikes still and smaller hitters still can get strikes with control! Reading a player helps to save our gas for bigger hitters.

    My son just turned 13. He's been playing ball since he was 3 and now is on a travel team here in SC. He's really close to hitting home runs, just not quite there yet. He gets in right to the fence, but not over the fence. His travel coach told him to practice swinging his hips when he bats, and says that once he gets comfortable rotating his hips, he will have no problem hitting home runs. My son says when he tries doing it that way, he strikes out. He's never been taught to swing his hips so its unfamiliar and uncomfortable. Do you have any videos or suggestions that would help him get more comfortable, or just practice practice practice? Your videos are awesome by the way!!!

    Good point about the leg kick. Another big hitter with barely any kick that comes to mind would be Stanton. Of course he's just a beast in general though. I have always kind of had a natural kick with my swing, but that's also probably because I stand with my front leg open when in my starting stance. I do find I've having trouble timing my load though, but that's also probably because I'm pretty rusty when it comes to actual game time.

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining

    I understand your thoughts on pre-loading. If a player is bat casting, would pre-loading help them?

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don't think so. I think casting is a separate issue and has very little to do with the load. I'd still use a load for that player. I would just really work on getting into a better launch position and staying connected to avoid casting.

    • @michaelhoffman943
      @michaelhoffman943 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the quick reply - do you have any recommended drills on staying connected to avoid casting? Do you also think trying to keep the players hands taller will help with casting?

    Hi coach, this is a great video that should help my 11 year old son, but I’m still wondering about the weight shift from back to front leg. His travel coach told me that much of his weight should stay on back foot throughout the swing, but I feel like the weight shifts to the front right before or at contact with the ball? What do you think?
    And a separate question: how far should the arms extend towards the ball in that final linear motion after the rotation of the hips?
    Thanks!

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      His weight should only stay back once his front heel drops and he begins the rotational part of his swing. That's when he'll hit against a firm front side and stay behind the ball. But there definitely needs to be a weight shift forward to generate momentum.
      As far as your second question, the arms shouldn't extend much after rotating your hips. They should remain tight to the body. At the point of contact, his right arm should make an L shape with his elbow tucked into his body. His left arm should still be bent and his hands should be palm up, palm down. (This is assuming he's a right handed hitter).

    Is there a proper way to finish a baseball swing? Two hand or one

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The biggest thing is finishing with your bat high. Two hand or one hand is really personal preference. If you finish with one hand coming off the bat, it should happen well after the point of contact.

    My daughter is having a tough time with rolling her wrist. I see her do it but I can't stop her from doing it. I think it is because she is swinging with all arms and not getting her lower body into it. I have been trying to get her to load properly and she just doesn't get it. I've took her to a batting coach and he's tried to help her but she just can't break it. The only thing that I've tried that seems to be any help is to widen her stance from the start, but it just doesn't look right and any time she does lifts her foot and steps and plants she just can't get it right and it looks awkward. She just can't get the timing right when she tries to leg kick at all. I know you say not to leg kick but even you do kick your leg forward a little, and any time she tries to do this she's lost.

    Why is it that I crush medium fast pitches but when I very fast pitch comes I watch it go by? I have been hit multiple times. Is that the reason?

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you get frozen because you're not timing the fastball and adjusting to everything else. I'm not sure what level you play at, but if the pitcher throws his average fastball 82mph but can get up to 86mph, you better be ready to hit 86 and time it like he's going to throw 86. It's easy to tap the brakes and wait a click longer, but as you know, it's not easy to speed things up.
